When Gus first met Wendy in Sweet Tooth season 2, I believed they were going to be good friends, maybe the best of friends. But what happened at the end of season 3 completely changed the chemistry between the two. [Spoiler Alert] I mean, yes, it really came out of the blue when the ending sequence implied that Gus and Wendy got married or something and years later had a son (or a grandson) who got his distinctive features from both his parents. The young kid had antlers like his father, Gus, and a piggy nose like her mother, Wendy. And as the screen zoomed out, we saw an old Wendy sitting beside an old Gus on a rocking chair, telling their children some good ol’ bedtime stories about their friends. At the gathering, there were other young hybrids, too, which suggests that after the end of the outbreak, the hybrids hadn’t gone extinct.

Alan Cumming is not a fan of dwelling on the past. “I don’t really have prepared ideas or thoughts about things from the past so much,” the actor, singer, novelist, activist, and general polymath says on Zoom as he prepares to embark on his upcoming one-man tour for Uncut, a one-man cabaret (yes, the title is a circumcision joke). “I try to pull the rug from under myself all the time, and not hearken back to things that I’ve done.”

Spoiler Alert: This post contains spoilers from “Kids See Ghosts,” the May 20 episode of The CW’s “All American.”
Billy Baker lives on… ish. Taye Diggs’ character, who died in a bus accident midway through Season 5 of the drama, returned to “All American” during the May 20 episode.
At the beginning of the Season 6 episode, Olivia (Samantha Logan) struggled to finish her book about Billy, her late father, as Jordan (Michael Evans Behling) found himself at a crossroads about his possible future in the NFL. Meanwhile, Spencer (Daniel Ezra) realized he had much more going for himself than football when a young high school player asked for his help. Recognizing how much they needed their father — or father figure, in Spencer’s case — Laura (Monet Mazur) decided to give her kids letters that Billy had written for them to open when they graduated college. And she gave Spencer Billy’s journal,...

Anya Taylor-Joy wearing a headpiece never fails to wow me. Headdresses give her a particular charm, and I wouldn’t mind seeing her show up to the Furiosa promotional tour with a variety of headpieces—like the flapper chainmail hat she wore to the Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga photocall during the 77th Cannes Film Festival.

PlayStation and Xbox had been at loggerheads for decades as Sony and Microsoft remained at loggerheads over having the ‘better’ hardware and ecosystem. Newcomers Xbox had always provided competition but never really got to take the mantle off PlayStation as they managed to bank on its 7-year headstart.
Microsoft Gaming has been the new direction that Xbox is recently headed in. And the results have not been good so far. However, PlayStation has successfully taken this opportunity to make themselves completely out of reach.
In the process, the PS5 has bagged a lucrative ‘record’ that no other console company can boast of.

The Dragon Ball saga has left fans mesmerized to the core through the original manga created by Akira Toriyama sensei and the anime adaptations that followed. However, despite being such a massive fan-favorite that almost everyone loves, the story failed to deliver perfectly in its first and last Hollywood live-action adaptation to date from 2009, which starred Justin Chatwin in the lead.
Dragonball Evolution (2009).
In fact, one of the most hated and criticized elements of the Dragonball Evolution film was the fact that Chatwin was chosen to play Son Goku, whose performance also didn’t sit well with fans. But that wasn’t the worst part, for from the plot elements to the superpowers to the way the animated characters were brought to life, Db fans were met with the worst nightmare of their imagination.

“Reservation Dogs” took the industry by storm. Critics and audiences alike fell in love with this FX comedy from Sterlin Harjo and Oscar-winner Taika Waititi. The series follows the lives of four Indigenous teenagers living in rural Oklahoma who try to scrape together enough money to leave behind their reservation community.
The reason the show soars so high is its spectacular cast, at the center of which is a quartet of brilliant young actors: Devery Jacobs, D’Pharoah Woon-a-Tai, Paulina Alexis, and Lane Factor. Jacobs is perhaps the jewel in this crown, as noted by critics.

This article contains mild Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire spoilers.
Before Godzilla vs. Kong finished its opening weekend, genre director and lifelong kaiju fan, Adam Wingard, knew he had to get these two crazy guys together again. Despite releasing the film in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic—Godzilla vs. Kong was in fact one of the first bright spots for movie theaters in the spring of 2021 when social distancing kept cinemas at a quarter capacity—the vibe in the auditorium was still electric by picture’s end.
“I remember there’s a moment at the end of the movie when Godzilla and Kong briefly team up to kill Mechagodzilla,” Wingard says while stifling a sheepish chuckle at the absurdity of it all. “And when that happened, the roof blew off the place. Olivia Colman got candid about the gender pay disparity in Hollywood during a recent appearance on CNN’s “The Amanpour Hour.”
“Don’t get me started on the pay disparity, but male actors get paid more because they used to say they drew in the audiences,” Colman said. “And actually, that hasn’t been true for decades, but they still like to use that as a reason to not pay women as much as their male counterparts.”
Host Christiane Amanpour then asked Colman if she has experienced pay disparity herself, despite being an Oscar winner.
“I’m very aware that if I was Oliver Colman, I’d be earning a fuck of a lot more than I am,” “The Crown” star said in response. “I know of one pay disparity, which is a 12,000% difference. Do the maths, I know.”

300 was a highly stylized retelling of the Battle of Thermopylae adapted from the comic by Frank Miller, and director Zack Snyder recently spoke about the movie on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. Although historians have found plenty of evidence of homosexuality in Ancient Greece, 300 doesn’t really touch upon it. When asked if he ever thought “about putting a bunch of gay stuff in there,” Snyder replied that he was adapting a comic, not real history. However, the director did say that he’s been talking about a 300 series which would include more of those elements.
“It’s Frank’s book. I made what Frank wrote,” Snyder said. “And we’ve been talking about doing a series where I really wanted to introduce those concepts a lot more because I just feel like it’s important. If we go forward and do more in the ‘300’ universe,...

“The Outrun,” the adaptation of Amy Liptrot’s deeply raw and lyrical 2016 memoir about addiction, recovery and nature, premiered in Sundance this year to stellar reviews, with many awards prophets already suggesting that the film could take Saoirse Ronan — who stars in and produces the film — back to the Oscars in 2025.
For producer Sarah Brocklehurst, the Sundance premiere also marked something of an enjoyable full circle, landing almost five years to the day after the Sundance 2019 debut of “Animals.” The film, which screens at the Berlin Film Festival, also marks the first feature from her Brock Media banner.
“Animals,” based on Emma Jane Unsworth’s novel about hedonism and friendship (described as a “Withnail for Girls”) and starring Holliday Grainger and Alia Shawkat, may not have been Brocklehurst’s debut film (that was 2012’s “Black Pond”), but she claims it was a career game-changer. “It proved to myself and probably...

Awards season is full of movies made by and starring white people. But a cinema that identifies and interrogates the idea of whiteness itself is glaringly absent
Surveying the cinematic landscape this awards season, one question keeps coming to mind: where are all the white films for white people? That might seem an odd concern to have in 2024, when white people are well represented at every major awards ceremony and the cultural event of the last 12 months was Barbenheimer, a set-to between the greatest of the Great White Man biopics and a jubilant celebration of the archetypal blonde. Or it might just seem a misdirection of energies when, at long last, we also now have some serious east Asian, Black and Indigenous-centring contenders to cheer on, in the form of Past Lives, American Fiction, The Color Purple and Killers of the Flower Moon. Yet even in our racially diverse times,...

Death In Paradise returns to our screens in February, and the BBC have released plot and cast details.
Death In Paradise has been one of the BBC’s most successful dramas in recent years. Created by Robert Thorogood in 2011, the show’s thirteenth series is about to hit our screens. It has seen Ben Miller, Kris Marshall, Ardal O’Hanlon and current detective Ralf Little solve a remarkably high number of murders for such a small Caribbean island.
Last year, Marshall’s character Humphrey Goodman starred in spin-off Beyond Paradise, which paired him with Not Going Out star Sally Bretton and relocated the action to Cornwall. Proving popular with viewers, it recently returned for a Christmas special and a second series will be broadcast this year.
A further spin off, entitled Return to Paradise was announced last year, with action taking place in Australia.

As a long term fan of Magic: The Gathering, I have loved seeing the new “Universes Beyond” series that Wizards of the Coast has been promoting lately. With incredible IP’s like Lord of the Rings, Doctor Who and Warhammer 40,000 being introduced in casual formats, players who have never shown an interest in Magic: The Gathering before are suddenly much more keen to see what the hobby is all about.
One of the best ways to enjoy Magic: The Gathering (Mtg) is via a format like Commander which is a two to four player game that usually favours three or four players, and which lends itself to a very casual group rather than a more serious tournament format. Because it is casual, Commander games allow players to choose from wide varieties of cards that span years and even decades since the Mtg product line first launched. Specifically in relation...

Looking to build out on its impressive film slate on a piece of IP they are all too familiar with, Apple said it is developing a new, untitled Peanuts feature film from WildBrain and Peanuts Worldwide.
Slated to begin production in 2024 from WildBrain Studios, the new family film will see the Peanuts gang go on an epic adventure to the Big City, learning the true meaning of friendship while meeting some surprising new friends along the way.
The screenplay is co-written by Karey Kirkpatrick from an original story by co-writers Craig Schulz, Bryan Schulz and Cornelius Uliano, who wrote the 2015 feature film The Peanuts Move. That film’s director Steve Martino will helm the new pic, which will be produced by two-time Oscar nominee Bonnie Arnold.
“Fans of all ages have been enamored with Peanuts on Apple TV+,” said Tara Sorensen, Apple’s head of children’s programming. “With our unmatched library of Peanuts titles,...

Let’s just be honest: being scared isn’t fun. At least, not for everyone. So entering Halloween — aka “spooky season” — can be pretty hard, especially when it comes to finding movies to watch. Well, it’s a good thing you’re here.
Because the thing is, Halloween movies are a core piece of celebrating the holiday. You get together with friends, you break into the candy early, turn off all the lights and get cozy for the night. But if you’re a big ol’ scaredy cat (like this writer is more than secure enough to admit she is), those nights are significantly harder.
So, we went ahead and rounded up 13 of the best Halloween movies that you’ll be guaranteed to still get a good, nightmare-free sleep after.

Telling ghost stories was a Christmas tradition in Victorian England, and in recent years author / actor / playwright Mark Gatiss – who has been a Doctor Who writer and co-created Sherlock with Steven Moffat – has been paying tribute to that tradition by directing ghost stories for the BBC to air at Christmastime. This year is no different, as The Hollywood Reporter breaks the news that Kit Harington of Game of Thrones and Eternals has signed on to star in Gatiss’s latest Christmas chiller, the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle adaptation Lot No. 249.
Freddie Fox (The Great) joins Harington in Lot No. 249, which centers on a group of Oxford students, one of whom undertakes research into the secrets of Ancient Egypt which become the talk of the college. Can these experiments truly breathe life to the horrifying bag of bones which is the mysterious Lot. No 249?

This Star Wars: Ahsoka article contains spoilers.
It all comes down to one final battle in the Nightsister fortress on Peridia. Ahsoka, Sabine, and Ezra have managed to make it through the barrage of laser fire from Grand Admiral Thrawn’s Star Destroyer and are now climbing up the tower. Standing in their way are a horde of undead Night Troopers and the newly inducted witch, Lady Morgan Elsbeth, who now wields the powerful Blade of Talzin. But while the heroes are able to slice and shoot their way through these obstacles, including taking down Morgan once and for all, they’re ultimately too late to stop Thrawn’s escape.

With plenty of questions still looming, Ahsoka’s Season 1 finale on Tuesday night delivered some answers as Grand Admiral Thrawn prepared to make his big exit from Peridea.
The Imperial officer’s mystery cargo had finished loading and they were almost ready to depart. While Morgan was confident that Ahsoka & Co. could do little to stop them, Thrawn remained cautious. He’d seen his cohorts make similar assumptions about the Rebellion to their demise, and even fell victim to the “heroics of a single Jedi” — namely Ezra, who dragged him into deep space via purrgil — and vowed to never make that mistake again.

This article contains spoilers for the latest episode of "Ahsoka."
You just never know who's going to show up in a galaxy far, far away these days. Whether it's "Cousin" Richie from "The Bear" (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) popping in to assist Cassian Andor on the Aldhani heist on "Andor" or Dr. John "J.D." Dorian from "Scrubs" (Zach Braff) playing the "Star Wars" equivalent of a Maga supporter on "Obi-Wan Kenobi," the supporting cast of the "Star Wars" franchise is an eclectic collection of top-of-the-line character actors and fan-favorites. Sometimes, however, you might not even recognize them, as they're buried under layers of makeup or wearing a helmet the entire time. That was exactly the case on the latest episode of "Ahsoka."
Titled "Far, Far Away," the episode follows those aboard the Eye of Scion to Peridea, the extra-galactic homeworld of the Dathomiri and a planet so ancient it had fallen into myth.

Exclusive: Ok, this one hurts. Hulu has canceled fan favorite The Great after three seasons.
The series starred Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult. Created, written and executive produced by Tony McNamara, The Great reinvented the period drama by revisiting the life of Catherine the Great, Russia’s reigning empress from 1762 to 1796. It depicted an iconic character and her place in history through a unique prism.
The third season dropped May 12 and revolved around Catherine (Fanning) and Nicholas (Hoult) working on their marriage.
It’s unclear what made the streamer decide to cancel the comedy, which garnered positive reviews and seven Emmy nominations since launching in 2020. It won an Emmy for Outstanding Period Costumes in 2022, the same year that Fanning and Hoult earned their first nominations for headlining the popular series. There is beauty in undiscovered places, which brings down the harsh walls one has built around oneself. Sure, seduction may not be the first word that comes to mind when describing the growing fascination with a place, but it surely gets close to describing the feeling. The Great Seduction, the new Netflix movie directed by Celso R. Garcia, tries to capture the childlike nature of the people living in a forgotten world. He places that in contrast to modern cities, where naivety and innocence seem to have been lost.
The Great Seduction tells the story from the point of view of the people living on a small island named Santa Maria, where people are desperate for jobs, and the only way for this fishing island to survive is the new fishing plant that is going to be set up if and only if certain conditions are met. This comedy sees a troupe of clowns, living statues and ravers roaming about a dystopia where electricity has been stopped by a solar flare
For years, Bobcat Goldthwait’s cult classic Shakes the Clown was the only adult-oriented black comedy featuring an almost all-clown list of dramatis personae. But hooray – now there’s another one! Or nearly, because admittedly there are a few nonclown characters here. This superbly titled film is a goofy, wildly uneven but ultimately watchable low-budget Irish caprice that mostly revolves around an ad hoc troupe of outsider clowns (a phrase that may be a tautology) who are thrown together when a freak solar flare wipes out all the electricity in Ireland, or maybe the world.
Luckily, Bobo (David Earl), a washed-up clown with a squirty-flower boutonniere and little to no talent, does have a wind-up car that doesn’t need electricity. He ends up piling in...

King Charles‘ recent trip to Balmoral showcased his love for Scottish heritage, notably his choice to wear traditional Scottish attire. While enjoying a special whisky distillery tour, Charles proudly donned a kilt, something he’s often seen wearing during his visits to the region.
Contrastingly, Prince William does not share the same fondness for the tartan garment. Despite holding several Scottish titles, William has never been seen wearing a kilt as an adult, sparking curiosity about his aversion to this symbol of Scottish tradition.

There’s a streamer that’s adored by diplomats and by Mormons, by doctors at the Mayo Clinic and by rabid cinephiles. The brand has continually operated under its founder for more than 30 years, and the odds are excellent that you have never, ever heard of it.
One reason you’ve probably never heard of MHz Choice is — with apologies to its founder and operator, Frederick Thomas — its terrible name. He said he chose to call it MHz because it derives from megahertz, or one million hertz, a measure of radio transmission frequencies or a computer’s clock speed. Neither of these things seem to address the MHz mission, which is to stream TV shows and films from 30 international countries.
Thomas founded the company in 1993 as a subsidized public-access channel in Washington DC. Today, it’s a for-profit Kino Lorber joint venture that costs $7.99 per month with more than 2,500 hours of mysteries,...

Naturally, in celebration of Shark Week, this week’s streaming picks bring the aquatic terror. Former child star Elle Fanning has shared her teenage experience of the darker side of Hollywood.
The star of Hulu’s The Great, and younger sister of actress Dakota, told The Times newspaper that, when she was 16 years old, she auditioned for a role in a comedy movie about a father and daughter going on a road trip.
She shared that she was told she had been rejected for the role “because she wasn’t sexy enough” – “unf***able” was the verdict she was given.
And she revealed that, a year later, she lost another film role on the grounds that she didn’t have enough followers on Instagram.
Fanning has recently enjoyed huge success with her title role of Catherine in The Great. Both she and co-star Nicholas Hoult have been Emmy-nominated for their performances in the irreverent period drama, detailing the marriage between Catherine the Great and Tsar Peter III of Russia.

The hottest film event of the summer is fast approaching! That’s right, folks! Two film industry titans, Barbie and Oppenheimer, will soon battle it out for box office supremacy! Before you bet on who wins the top spot on the charts, see what analysts predict for the July 21-23 weekend.
Tracking for both films is interesting, to say the least. Great Gerwig‘s Barbie could open to a peppy $70 million-$80 million, with an opportunity to make more. Warner Bros, who’s licking its wounds after The Flash underperformed, is holding out for $60M, just to be cautious.
Greta Gerwig’s Barbie introduces several Barbie and Ken variants, each with a different personality, background, and status in a bizarre world of partying, shopping, beachside brawls, and feeble attempts at flirtation. The footage piles on the strange as Barbie and Ken seemingly travel to the real world, where everything becomes more unhinged than it was before.
