Marvel has been known to be quite unjust towards specific characters in their collection. The perfect example of this would be Danny Rand, better known as Iron Fist. He is one of the most beloved mystical characters in the Marvel Universe. Despite this, the character has not had the best experience when it comes to live action.

While the fans have contrasting opinions when it comes to the 2017 Netflix series, its cancellation was not appreciated by anyone. However, now that Daredevil is getting another opportunity through Daredevil: Born Again, what is stopping Marvel from doing the same with Rand, and what better opportunity than his 50th anniversary?
Marvel’s Celebrates 50 Years of Iron Fist
Iron Fist made his debut in the world of comics in May 1974 in the fifteenth issue of Marvel Premiere. Created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane, the character has become iconic for many different reasons.

Praise the Mortis Gods! "The Acolyte" is giving us a reason to get excited about live-action "Star Wars" television again while we patiently await the second season of "Andor." After "The Mandalorian" season 3 saw its namesake frustratingly sidelined in favor of setting up Dave Filoni's larger New Republic arc and "Ahsoka" season 1 left me and others feeling like the convergence of live-action and animated "Star Wars" is a real mixed blessing, "Russian Doll" co-creator Leslye Headland is here to change things up. "The Acolyte" is set in the High Republic era, a period that's been explored in the ongoing High Republic publishing initiative but has never before been realized in live-action. That alone should be enough to pique the interest of anyone who's ready for a "Star Wars" series that's less beholden to setting up future shows and can exist more independently.

There will be spoilers for "Star Wars - The High Republic: Defy the Storm" by Tessa Gratton and Justina Ireland.
"Star Wars: The High Republic" continues its march through its third phase with the release of "Star Wars: Defy the Storm," which was co-written by Tessa Gratton and Justina Ireland. It builds off the events of "Star Wars - The High Republic: The Eye of Darkness" and shows us a galaxy in disarray thanks to the evil Nihil and their Stormwall. For those who haven't been keeping up with the High Republic era, these books are set more than a hundred years before the events of "The Phantom Menace" and are a look at the Jedi at their true height, just as they begin their descent that will ultimately lead to their destruction. They face an enemy called the Nihil, brutal pirates who will stop at nothing to take what they want.

Creator Mike Flanagan’s latest and final series collaboration with Netflix, “The Fall of the House of Usher,” takes on the works of Edgar Allan Poe. Much like “The Haunting of Bly Manor,” Flanagan’s latest uses a classic short story as the central narrative framework to remix a variety of Poe’s macabre poems and short stories but with Flanagan’s signature pathos. Unlike previous Netflix series, “The Fall of the House of Usher” eschews the familiar melancholy and dials up the gallows humor for a twisted tale that’s unafraid to get grisly.
In the process, however, it’s less effective at organically adapting Poe.
Like the source story, “The Fall of the House of Usher” begins with Auguste Dupin (Carl Lumbly) called to a crumbling estate for a final meeting with the deteriorating Roderick Usher (Bruce Greenwood). With time drawing to a close and haunted by horrific...

There’s a lot to unpack to properly adapt The Dark Tower books by Stephen King.
There have been past efforts that fell flat, and now there’s a writer’s strike that has tied up producton. But director Mike Flanagan remains optimistic that he can bring home a compelling version, as he related Thurday at the Tribeca Film Festival.
The Haunting of Hill House director confessed that The Dark Tower was his dream project.
“That’s the one I want to do the most,” Flanagan said to moderator Justina Ireland “I have the rights. We’re on strike. But I’m very optimistic that we’re on a great path with that, we have good partners, we can’t talk about it, but I think it’s going to happen. I can’t say for certain, but we look good. So I’m hoping that’s up there.”

During a lively Tribeca Festival masterclass discussion on genre filmmaking, director Mike Flanagan spoke with writer Justina Ireland, who was in the writers’ room for Flanagan’s upcoming Netflix series “The Fall of the House of Usher,” about how he was able to continue making the series after on-set disruption.
In April 2022, Variety reported that Frank Langella, the lead of the series, was recast “following an investigation into alleged misconduct on set.” Bruce Greenwood took over the role, which included reshoots since Langella left midway through production.
Ireland asked Flanagan about the difficulty of being a creative who has to be leader on set, alluding to a difficult person on “Usher” and mentioning that the audience could Google the behind-the-scenes drama if they weren’t in the know.
Flanagan answered the question without naming specific people or incidents, saying: “The management of production is something there is no real training for.

There were a lot of book announcements at the "Star Wars Celebration" panel for "The High Republic" today, including new titles by Claudia Gray, Alyssa Wong, and more. Streaming the whole panel on the "Star Wars" livestream, it seemed as though there would be nothing huge announced, and when host Krystina Arielle ended the panel 15 minutes early, everyone was a little confused.
But that's when she brought out Leslye Headland, the showrunner for "The Acolyte." That show is set between the eras of "The High Republic" and the fall of the Jedi era that begins with "The Phantom Menace," so crossovers between what's going on with the publishing initiative would likely have at least some bearing on the live-action project. Headland praised the assembled authors on the stage, saying:

Tomorrow, "The Art of Star Wars: The High Republic (Volume One)" by Kristin Baver (with a foreword by Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy) hits newsstands. "The High Republic" was unique among Disney's "Star Wars" publishing goals in that they brought in artists like Ian McCaig to do a blue sky development phase with a whole writing team. It's not something that's been done before, and this book documents a lot of the iteration and thought behind the visuals we've been seeing across the program. It was a useful tool to unite the writers and comic book artists into a single vision as they told their stories. It's also served to create a cohesion in design for readers, allowing us to have a unified view of what we were supposed to imagine in a universe as concerned with canon and accuracy as the entirety of "Star Wars."

Spoilers for "Star Wars: Path of Deceit" follow.
"The High Republic" is an exciting new era in the "Star Wars" universe, housed primarily in off-screen adventures: books, comics, and audio dramas. That will change eventually with "Star Wars: The Acolyte," the new Disney+ TV series from Leslye Headland, but in the meantime, the books are where the action is. "Path of Deceit," co-written by Tessa Gratton and Justina Ireland, is the newest installment of the publishing program and kicks off a whole new look at the era. In the first wave of stories, starting with Charles Soule's "Light of the Jedi" and ending with a cliffhanger in "The Fallen Star" by Claudia Gray, gives us a window into what makes the Jedi afraid. "Path of Deceit" is the first book in the second phase of "The High Republic" turning the clock back another hundred-plus years in the "Star Wars" galaxy.

The young adult books in the The High Republic series continue to shine. Justina Ireland deepens a character who appeared in her middle grade installment, precocious Jedi Vernestra Rwoh, and adds a new hero with a strong, compelling connection to the underpinnings of the era in Wave 2’s Out of the Shadows.
Set about 200 years before The Phantom Menace, the High Republic is the Golden Age of the Jedi…but there are still some pesky threats. The pirate Nihil can create their own gravity wells and manipulate hyperspace, threatening any galactic travelers. Onto this scene comes Sylvestri Yarrow, a cargo hauler who discovers what she thought she knew about her mother was just a fraction of the truth. A classic Star Wars family clash, a deep dive into the workings of hyperspace, and the developing relationships between Jedi make this an entertaining book, even if the first half goes a lot slower than the second.

The Skywalker Saga might’ve come to an end, but there’s a new “Star Wars” era you’re going to need to know a lot more about as Lucasfilm and Disney enter the next stage of the “Star Wars” universe: the High Republic.
