Elvis Presley liked to talk conversationally with his audience during shows. He did this more frequently as the 1970s wore on. While many of his fans were dedicated enough to laugh along with Elvis’ monologues, others couldn’t take it. Elvis’ bodyguards recalled one show so dull that the audience fled in droves.
Elvis spent so much time talking to his audience that they walked out of a show
By the 1970s, everyone in Elvis’ entourage was worried about him. He consumed so many pills that he often forgot his performances. When he was onstage, everyone in his circle watched with horror.
“There have been actual shows that he has done that he can’t remember,” his bodyguard Sonny West said in the book Elvis: What Happened? “The audience must know something is going on. Sometimes, he gets up there and talks and talks to the audience instead of singing.

After just one weekend of international release, “Priscilla” — Sofia Coppola’s biopic starring Jacob Elordi as Elvis Presley and Cailee Spaeny as The King’s (then) teenage bride “Priscilla” — has already hit several major milestones for arthouse streamer and distributor Mubi.
Produced by Fremantle’s The Apartment, the film currently sits on a box office in excess of $20 million in the U.S., where A24 released the film on Oct. 27. And for Mubi, it’s become its widest theatrical launch ever, with over 1,300 cinemas across the U.K., Ireland, Germany, Latin America, Benelux and Austria. And with an opening weekend box office haul of $4.1 million in those territories, “Priscilla” now looks set to smash the company’s records and overtake Charlotte Wells’ indie hit “Aftersun” to become its biggest release to date.

Elvis Presley spent much of his life surrounded by his bodyguards. They were friends with the musician and would have done anything for him, even when it made them uncomfortable. Two of Elvis’ bodyguards discussed Elvis’ interest in death and embalming. His fascination forced them into situations that made them both nervous and nauseous.

Back in March 2023, the news broke that filmmaker Guillermo del Toro was in the midst of casting a new film version of "Frankenstein" that he was slated to write and direct. At the time, it was said that Oscar Isaac and Mia Goth were set to star and that Andrew Garfield was to play the Monster. According to actor Doug Jones (who has worked with del Toro on several feature films), the director had long been at work on a "Frankenstein" movie that was meant to visually resemble Bernie Wrightson's "Frankenstein," a heavily illustrated printing of Mary Shelley's 1818 novel made by Marvel Comics back in 1983. At the time of Jones' comments, however, he was slated to play the Monster himself, as the actor commented on what "my look" would have been. That Wrightson-inspired version eventually evolved into the version mentioned above, which is being produced for Netflix.

In a rare interview, Mike Stone says that he believed Priscilla Presley felt “stuck, trapped, and not able to breathe” in her marriage to Elvis Presley. By the time of their affair, Priscilla was “trying to find herself” outside of her marriage to the King of Rock and Roll. Stone believes that Priscilla was looking for something new when their relationship began and believes that others shouldn’t judge a person’s actions unless you truly understand their circumstances.
Mike Stone claims Priscilla Presley was about ‘trying to find herself’ during their union
Fifty years after his affair with Priscilla Presley became public, legendary Karate instructor Mike Stone broke his silence on their relationship. He shared his thoughts on why Priscilla and Elvis’ relationship stagnated and how their union played a small part in her personal evolution.

The memoir of Lisa Marie Presley, the singer-songwriter daughter of Elvis and Priscilla Presley who died one year ago, will be published by Random House in collaboration with Presley’s actor-daughter Riley Keough, the publishing house has announced.
Described by the publisher as a “raw, riveting, one-of-a-kind memoir [that] will lift the veil on one of America’s most storied families,” the still-untitled book will be published on October 15 along with an audiobook edition read by Riley and including what Random House says are “never-before-heard recollections in Lisa Marie’s own voice.
Before her death last January, Presley, her publisher says, asked Keough to help in the finishing of the long-gestating memoir. In the announcement of the book release, Random House indicated that Keough “carried a guilt” that the memoir had not been finished at the time of Presley’s death and feared the world “would never know the loving, joyful,...

Elvis Presley was so famous that nearly every stranger he saw knew who he was. While this level of celebrity could be suffocating, Elvis also used it to his advantage. Once, while in the hospital, Elvis decided to slip into a stranger’s room while she was giving birth. The experience was incredibly confusing for the woman.
Elvis Presley visited a stranger in the hospital
In 1974, Elvis reunited with ex-girlfriend Linda Thompson. He accompanied her to the hospital to visit her brother and sister-in-law, who had just had a baby. Elvis quickly grew bored with the visit and decided he wanted to go to the labor room. He slipped on a surgical mask to hide his identity, but, given his level of fame, it didn’t work.

Priscilla Presley was with Elvis Presley for years before they married. She was thrilled to marry him but found their wedding day stressful and disorienting. According to the judge at their ceremony, she didn’t hide her distress well. He said Priscilla was visibly terrified on her wedding day.
Priscilla Presley looked incredibly nervous on the day she married Elvis
To avoid media attention, Elvis and Priscilla had a small, rushed wedding in Las Vegas. Both members of the couple were incredibly nervous ahead of their ceremony.
“My pre-ceremony meeting with Elvis was probably the most impressive part of the whole experience,” Judge David Zenoff said, per the book Careless Love: The Unmaking of Elvis Presley by Peter Guralnick. “I was simply amazed by the boy’s modesty. He was low-key, handsome as a picture, very respectful and very intense … and so nervous he was almost bawling.”
Zenoff said Priscilla seemed even more apprehensive.

What are my biggest takeaways from Sunday evening’s 81st Golden Globe Awards ceremony? Here are three.
1. This is not your old HFPA
Though some winners thanked the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the HFPA is actually no more. The controversial group was dissolved after selling itself and its assets to Penske Media Eldridge (a joint venture between Penske Media Corporation and Eldridge that also owns The Hollywood Reporter). A few dozen former HFPA members were not invited to be part of the new organization, and a few dozen were, but they are now far outnumbered by the hundreds of journalists and critics who have been added to the voting rolls since the acquisition.
Whereas one used to have to be based in the L.A. area to be a member of the HFPA, Globes voters are now based all around the world. And whereas many HFPA members were not film critics,...

Thankfully, it looks like Guillermo del Toro's planned take on the Frankenstein story has survived the chaos caused by last year’s strikes and is set to shoot next month.
However, the promising ensemble cast for the project isn’t quite intact: Andrew Garfield has vacated the role of the monster, and Deadline reports that Saltburn star Jacob Elordi to step into what could be another high-profile part.
As we’re seeing pretty frequently at the moment, rescheduling issues following months of inaction are forcing some actors to choose between projects that, pre-strike, wouldn’t have been clashing. This appears to be the case for Garfield, who’s had to exit del Toro’s Netflix project.
The promising film certainly represents another potential opportunity for Elordi to add to his growing star power.

Succession, Oppenheimer, Poor Things, Beef, and The Bear were among the big winners at the 2024 Golden Globes.
Coming into the evening, Barbie and Succession led the charge with nine nominations apiece, but Succession ultimately fared better, winning four awards, including Best Television Series in the Drama category, best male actor (Kieran Culkin), best female actor (Sarah Snook), and best supporting male actor (Matthew Macfadyen). Barbie, meanwhile, took home two awards, including Best Original Song thanks to Billie Eilish and Finneas’ “What Was I Made For?” and — to no one’s surprise — the inaugural award for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement.
Among the film nominees, Oppenheimer reigned supreme, winning a total of five awards, including including Best Motion Picture – Drama, best director (Christopher Nolan), best actor (Cillian Murphy), best supporting actor (Robert Downey Jr.), and best original score (Ludwig Göransson).

Jacob Elordi is expanding his auteur collaborations and will star in Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming “Frankenstein” as the titular monster.
After starring in Sofia Coppola’s “Priscilla,” Emerald Fennell’s “Saltburn,” and Paul Schrader’s new film “Oh, Canada,” Elordi is replacing Andrew Garfield in del Toro’s Netflix movie, as Netflix announced and IndieWire confirmed.

Barry Keoghan is sharing his thoughts on fan-made candles based on Jacob Elordi!
The 31-year-old actor recently starred opposite the 26-year-old Priscilla star in their new movie Saltburn. The eccentric dark comedy sees Barry‘s character Oliver Quick spend an unconventional summer with his university classmate Felix Catton (Elordi) and his wealthy family.
In one scene, Oliver slurps and licks up Felix’s used bath water. An Etsy seller took inspiration from the film to make scented candles called “Jacob Elordi’s Bath Water.”
Keep reading to find out more…
While appearing at the opening of West Hollywood’s Louis Vuiton pop-up on Wednesday night (January 3), Barry joked about the candles.
“I already have 10 of them,” he quipped to Variety‘s Marc Malkin. “They’re all burning at my house right now.”
