The X-Men: The Animated Series was a masterpiece in its finest form, and Larry Houston was one of the producers at the helm of it. Throughout the five seasons that it aired, fans were deeply in love with almost every story arc that the 1992 series decided to adapt. But even after such tremendous success with it, Houston still has one major regret about the show.

This regret is about his not exploring the character arc of a super-powerful yet long-forgotten hero, who was even more closely related to Scott Summers than what the non-comic book readers may expect. This character was Alex Summers, the younger brother of Scott and a mutant himself, best known as ‘Havoc.’ And as it turns out, Houston has immense regrets about it.

The "Expendables" franchise has one hell of an impressive cast of recognizable actors. The first film was released on one very simple promise — to reunite as many '80s and '90s action film stars as possible and see them kick all kinds of ass. The film featured Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, and other stars in an ultra-macho, testosterone-exuding action franchise (which was originally meant to be a comedy).
One big '80s star who's never become an Expendable is Kurt Russell, but not for lack of trying. Russell actually turned Stallone down for a role in "The Expendables," with the star of "Escape from New York" citing that he was "not interested in 'ensemble acting' at this time." Of course, he'd change his mind just a couple of years later when Russell signed up to join the "Fast & Furious" franchise — known for its ensemble cast.

Sunday wasn’t just St. Patrick’s Day, it was also Kurt Russell’s birthday — and the Halloweenies think that’s worth celebrating. After all, for over 45 years, Russell has kept us rooting for him in a smorgasbord of iconic roles: Rj MacReady, Snake Plissken, Jack Burton, Elvis Presley, Wyatt Earp, Santa Claus, Stuntman Mike, Curtis McCabe, Mr. Nobody, Jeff Taylor, Rudy Russo, Eldon Perry, and, of course, Captain Ron.
Don’t forget he also played the great Sheriff Franklin Hunt in 2006’s Bone Tomahawk, one of our favorite films of the 2010s, and yet also one of our first one-off Rentals in our Patreon, The Rewind. So, to celebrate the big guy’s birthday this past Sunday, the gang unlocked said episode on S. This post contains spoilers for "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters" episode 4, "Parallels and Interiors."
The Monsterverse is coming up on a decade now, dating back to director Gareth Edwards' "Godzilla" in 2014. But in all of those years, the human characters in the franchise have often left much to be desired. Fortunately, the Monsterverse has finally figured out this piece of the puzzle. The key? Kurt Russell. "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters" is currently in the midst of its first season on Apple TV+ and Russell's character Lee Shaw is easily the best human character we've had against the backdrop of this world of monsters.
In nine years of the Monsterverse, we've had some extremely memorable monster action, including one heck of a showdown between Godzilla and King Kong in 2021's aptly named "Godzilla vs. Kong." The humans? That's a different story. Oftentimes, these characters feel like vehicles that are just driving us toward the next monster showdown.

Following the worldwide release of Fast X, in which he stars opposite Vin Diesel and many more, Reacher breakout Alan Ritchson has recommitted to his relationship with Amazon by coming aboard to star in The Man with the Bag, a holiday family comedy that Adam Shankman (Hairspray) will direct from Allan Rice’s script.
The film in development at Amazon Studios picks up following the theft of Santa’s magic bag, as he turns to his naughty list to find Vance (Ritchson), a former thief who will help him get it back. Along with his daughter, Santa and a group of misfit elves, Vance will have to pull off the greatest heist of his life to save Christmas.
Falling under Ritchson’s three-picture film deal for acting with Amazon Studios, The Man with the Bag will be produced by Lawrence Grey, Ben Everard, Reg Tigerman, Dan Spilo and Ritchson.

For all the frothy motions of the Fast & Furious franchise, whose characters at this point practically qualify as superheroes, the films have traditionally tried to ground their full-throttle, physics-defying set pieces with goofy yet good-hearted characterizations around relationships to family. You don’t come to these movies for interpersonal drama, but the best entries are aided by their attempts to keep things within the stratosphere of the relatable.
Fast X jumps the shark in that regard. On a scene-to-scene basis, Louis Leterrier’s film, which suggests a Masala production by way of the MCU, isn’t any more implausible than The Fate of the Furious and F9. But between its overly lit, ultra-saturated images and hammy performances, Fast X recalls the old Batman TV series, or a spy parody like Austin Powers in Goldmember.

Los Angeles, April 3 (Ians) Actor Shamier Anderson is keen to have Meryl Streep join the ‘John Wick’ universe.
The 31-year-old actor plays Mr Nobody/Tracker in the action film ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ and revealed that he has some ideas about who he would love to see join the Keanu Reeves-starring franchise next.
“Liam Neeson would be a great antagonist. I think Denzel Washington would be a crazy antagonist. It would be really interesting to see a female villain; Meryl Streep would be something different. So those are my top three choices, Denzel Washington, Liam Neeson, and Meryl Streep,” he told IndieWire.
And, Anderson hopes he will still be around if any of his suggested actors ever join the franchise as he wants to develop his character even more in the future. He explained: “I felt like [Tracker] was the most relatable person to that audience.”

This post contains spoilers for "John Wick: Chapter 4."
The latest installment of "John Wick" ended on a somewhat ambiguous note. Looking at just the surface, it sure seems like John Wick is dead and gone. But if you know anything about franchises, you'd understand that no character is truly dead unless we get to see the life leave their eyes, and sometimes even that isn't enough. In this series specifically, a shot to the head is the only thing in the world we can trust to kill John Wick.
But let's assume he is dead for a moment and ask ourselves, can the franchise survive without Wick at the center? After this latest film, the answer seems like a clear-cut yes. The movie introduces Akira (Rina Sawayama), who's now motivated to get revenge on Caine (Donnie Yen) for killing her father. It's easy to see a movie centered around...

This post contains spoilers for "John Wick: Chapter 4."
The best franchises in cinema history are usually the unlikeliest ones. Movies like the first "Mad Max," a DIY action cacophony of carnage, or the grounded indie drama "The Fast and the Furious" about stealing VCRs. These started out as small-scale stories that eventually spun out into gigantic franchises with equally gigantic budgets and stunts, and expansive mythologies.
Likewise, it is hard to believe "John Wick: Chapter 4" comes from a movie that almost went straight to video and followed a simple (and honestly kind of silly) story about a man killing dozens of people to avenge his dog. But that was 2014, now we've moved on to bigger, bolder, and more violent things. Granted, there were always hints of a much larger universe even in the first film, with the mythology around the Continental hotel and the rules for this world...

Start your engines, the first “Fast X” trailer has arrived.
The tenth installment in perhaps modern cinema’s unlikeliest franchise is due out on May 19 and while the Super Bowl will have a sixty-second cutdown, Universal has unleashed the entire, nearly 4-minute trailer early. And it’s a whopper (and you can watch it right now in the player).
As is the tradition for a movie built around family, the trailer begins with the introduction of Abuela Toretto – Dom, Jakob and Mia’s grandmother (played by screen legend Rita Moreno). Then, almost right away, we get into the action stuff. This time the big bad is played by Jason Momoa, playing a character named Dante whose life was ruined by Dom and the gang during the events of “Fast Five.”
This goes along with the franchise’s tendency to retcon key events in the history of the series (we see...

In James Wan's 2015 mega-blockbuster "Furious 7," a car located on the 80th floor of one of the Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi speeds out of the window, crashing through the glass, and into the open air. The car then smashes in through the window of the second Etihad Tower, and skids safely to a halt on the 75th floor. It's an act of cartoonish daredeviltry that is emblematic of the Furious series at large. Looking at "Furious 7," and its two follow-ups, it's curious to ponder that the series started as a mid-budget "Point Break" knockoff about street racers who steal DVD players.
As the series progressed from its humble origins — and became larger and larger in both budget and scale — a recurring ensemble began to form. After a while, the character in the "Furious" series became a sort of superhero team. Indeed, a scene in "F9" saw Tej...

It was announced yesterday that HBO Max had cancelled Titans and Doom Patrol after four seasons, which prompted some fans to place the blame on James Gunn and Peter Safran. As the pair became co-chairmen and CEO’s of DC Studios late last year, you would think that they did have a hand in ending Titans and Doom Patrol, but James Gunn took to Twitter to say that the decision to end both shows actually preceded their appointments.
The decision to end the series precedes us. But I certainly wish the best for the talented group of creators, actors, and the rest of the crew that produced both shows. https://t.co/jdqDc9TqU1

“While these will be the final seasons of Titans and Doom Patrol, we are very proud of these series and excited for fans to see their climactic endings,” an HBO Max spokesperson said in a statement to THR. “We are grateful to Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television for making such thrilling, action-packed, heartfelt series. We thank Titans showrunner Greg Walker, executive producers Greg Berlanti, Akiva Goldsman, Sarah Schechter, Geoff Johns, Richard Hatem, and the team at Weed Road Pictures. It is a safe assumption that anyone with even a casual awareness of popular culture knows an Alan Tudyk performance.
For science fiction fans, Tudyk may be Wash from Firefly, or K-2So from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. For fans of comic-book-based shows, he’s Joker and Clayface on Harley Quinn, or Mr. Nobody on Doom Patrol. Disney fans have their pick of comedic villains, and animal sidekicks. From comedies to drama to dramedy, Tudyk has one of the most recognizable and interesting careers in showbusiness.
But it is in his current role, on Syfy’s sci-fi comedy series Resident Alien, that Tudyk is receiving newfound recognition. Premiering its second season Wednesday, Jan. 26, at 9 p.m. Et, the show revolves around Tudyk’s extraterrestrial character who crash lands on our planet while trying to exterminate humanity. (Spoilers ahead for “F9: The Fast Saga”)
There’s a bit of conventional wisdom when watching movies and TV shows that most of us have internalized: If everybody thinks a major character is dead, but we didn’t actually see them die or get a look at their corpse, well, they probably aren’t dead.
That goes triple for a guy like Mr. Nobody (Kurt Russell), who is completely absent from the present narrative in “F9,” even while director Justin Lin and writer Daniel Casey use retcons to tie him to so many past events. And that’s very confusing.
Mr. Nobody, who runs the super secret spy organization that has been tangled up with the #Family since “Fast and Furious 7,” also gets to be the inciting incident for the plot. At the very beginning of “F9,” Dom (Vin Diesel) and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) get a little visit from...

When we learned that Han would be returning to the land of the living in “F9: The Fast Saga,” it was very exciting. He was such a fan favorite that they ended up making three “Tokyo Drift” prequels before finally letting him die. We like Han. We want him to be around.
Unfortunately, the particulars of how Han came back are pretty frustrating. First, it’s probably one too many plot threads for “F9” to be able to handle well. But if that was the only issue, we’d allow it. The bigger problem is how this retcon damages “Tokyo Drift.”
Here are the details. When Han moved to Japan after Gisele died in “Fast & Furious 6,” he didn’t just work with the Yakuza. He was also working, secretly, for Mr. Nobody — who picked him up because apparently Gisele...

Fans of the “Fast & the Furious” films (and Vin Diesel for that matter) may look upon F9: The Fast Saga with more fondness and love than others, but the truth is that it may be one of the most boring entries in the series to date.

Rating: 3.5/5.0
This is the Ninth installment of the “Fast & Furious” saga, and like the Marvel Universe they have created they own world. Again it’s Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto, married to Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) and trying to stay retired and raise his son. The F&f team – now a special ops unit run by enigmatic Mr. Nobody (Kurt Russell) – visits Dom’s farm, and wants him to come back to retrieve a weapon systems hacking device called Aries. Dominic is reluctant at first, until it’s revealed that his brother Jakob (John Cena) is a rogue agent working with a billionaire who wants to possess Aries. So this time … in accordance with all other times … it’s personal.
