Over the course of its 12-year-old run, The Big Bang Theory has never lost sight of any of the four main characters with each and every single one of them being extremely different from the others.
Apart from omnipresent Sheldon and Leonard, the show also featured their long-time close friend Howard Wolowitz portrayed by Simon Helberg throughout the whole series.
While now everyone can hardly imagine any other actor in this role, the show’s creators initially had someone else in mind — and Helberg could’ve lost his iconic character to his actual co-star.
As Jessica Radloff’s book, The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series, suggests, Howard Wolowitz’s part was initially offered to Kevin Sussman — he later on ended up staying in the show and portraying Stuart Bloom, a comic book store owner.

Following Schwimmer’s casting, Disney+ announced that Ana Ortiz (Ugly Betty, Love Victor), Sam McCarthy (Dead to Me), Jayden Bartels (Side Hustle), Elijah Cooper (That Girl Lay Lay), Galilea La Salvia (Party Down) and Francesca Noel have also joined the series.

America Ferrera Delivers Powerful Speech About Importance Of Representation At Critics Choice Awards
America Ferrera was presented with the SeeHer Award at the Critics Choice Awards and delivered a powerful speech just like she did in the Barbie movie.
Margot Robbie presented Ferrera with the accolade, highlighting some of her roles over the years, including Real Women Have Curves, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and Ugly Betty. Robbie noted that in the role of Betty, “she blazed a trail for Latina actresses while teaching everyone we are so much more than what we think we are.”
Ferrera won an Emmy for Ugly Betty, with Robbie mentioning she was the first Latina to do so in the Lead Actress in a Comedy category and continues to be the only one.
Once on stage, Ferrera opened up about receiving the honor at the gala and growing up as a “first-generation Honduran-American girl in love with TV, film, and theater who desperately wanted to be...

America Ferrera‘s monologue emerged as one of the most heartwarming moments in 2023′s blockbuster Barbie. However, it was not without critics.
If you forgot, the 39-year-old Ugly Betty actress delivered a standout moment in the fan-favorite movie while speaking to costar Margot Robbie about the struggles of being a woman.
While many have been moved by the monologue, some complained that it simplifies feminism. What does America think about those complaints?

“We can know things and still need to hear them out loud. It can still be a cathartic. There are a lot of people who need Feminism 101, whole generations of girls who are just coming up now and who don’t have words for the culture that they’re being raised in. Also, boys and men who may have never spent any time thinking about feminist theory,” America told The New York Times.

America Ferrera is reflecting on the success of Barbie — and why she thinks the race of her character in the film helped her land the part. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter Friday, the actress opened up about the fact that she hadn’t always been considered for non-Latina roles until recently in her career.
“To be frank: For the majority of my career, I have not been considered for roles that weren’t written specifically Latina,” Ferrera said. “And so that, in and of itself, limits what people...

After Di Jimmy Perez deliberately sacrificed his career in the name of justice (if not the law) and went off to pastures new with nurse Meg at the end of series seven, Shetland now has a new sheriff in town. Sort of.
While DS Tosh performs the duties of acting Di at Lerwick Police Station, detective Ruth Calder has come up from London in search of a missing witness in a serious crime case. It just so happens that Calder is an old Shetlander who left the islands as a teenager and was glad to be rid of the place, where she’s confronted by some old ghosts.
Ugly Betty and Agatha Raisin’s Ashley Jensen plays Calder, along with a new guest cast of Scottish stars as well as Shetland’s returning favourites. The latter includes Alison O’Donnell as DS Alison ‘Tosh’ McIntosh, Steven Robertson as DC Sandy Wilson,...

One year after coming up short on her first individual SAG Awards outing against Jean Smart (“Hacks”), Quinta Brunson (“Abbott Elementary”) is 2024’s clear Best TV Comedy Actress frontrunner, according to Gold Derby’s racetrack odds. This time, she could face a direct challenge from “The Bear” cast member Ayo Edebiri, who 90% of our participating users believe will overcome her 2023 solo snub. If this very likely showdown does come to fruition, the two potential nominees will make SAG Awards history as the first pair of Black actresses to ever face off in an individual continuing series category.
Both Brunson and Edebiri’s new SAG Award bids would come for their work on their shows’ second seasons. In its first year, ABC’s “Abbott Elementary” also received a successful Best TV Comedy Ensemble nomination, which made it the first network series to earn recognition in the category since ABC’s “Black-ish...

For queer pop culture fanatics, Netflix’s “Glamorous” is the gift that keeps on giving.
Beyond the homages to everything from “9 to 5” and “Clue” (including a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it reference to Jade’s infamous Cover Girl commercial on “America’s Next Top Model”) and an early aughts party so dead-on it will induce vertigo in viewers of a certain age, there’s also Miss Benny’s wardrobe as assistant Marco, newly hired at Glamorous by Madolyn as Madolyn Addison’s assistant. (Even the name of Kim Cattrall’s character feels like a reference to Meryl Streep’s Madeline Ashton in gay cult classic “Death Becomes Her.”)
A gender-nonconforming queer man, Marco begins as a struggling makeup vlogger and ends in full glam, complete with a twinkling pantsuit straight from the Nicole Kidman for AMC collection. For a show that lives up to its name and for a non-binary character, the fits...

Of course, the titular character of the film Barbie is the protagonist as well, but it’s likely one will pay more attention to Gloria and her words after seeing the film than to Barbie herself. After all, she does represent a chunk of us who are watching the film. Gloria is everything Barbie is not; firstly, she’s not made of plastic (literally or figuratively), she’s human, and she’s got flaws, unlike Barbie, who is meant to be perfect.
Instead of having Barbie be the aspirational icon for Gloria’s tween daughter, Sasha, Barbie is the epitome of perfection in Gloria’s eyes. Played impeccably by America Ferrera, who can really hold our attention when she’s giving a monologue (Ugly Betty would be proud). It’s interesting to note that the actress herself has no history with the legendary doll, and yet, without wanting to be in the dreamhouse herself,...

Keeping things fresh in a series when it has had a long run can be hard, but Kim Cattrall made sure to find ways to do just that in Sex and the City‘s six seasons.
During an appearance at a live taping of The New York Times’ Modern Love podcast as a part of the Tribeca Film Festival, Cattrall opened up about how she finds it thrilling to break constraints in her life. When asked if she could share any specific scenarios where she did that, the actress recalled a time on Satc.
“I was always trying to find a new and different way for Samantha to fall on the bed,” Cattrall said of her character. “That was kind of a joke, but I was sincere about it because they kept it fresh, not just for an audience but also for me.”

Mark Indelicato and Vincent Rodriguez, who play a gay couple on Prime Video’s With Love, revealed how they broke into acting in their new uInterview.
Indelicato recalled that his grandmother was the one who pushed him to start acting.

Christmas is quickly approaching, with Netflix having released its yearly selection of original festive romantic comedies.
Over the last few years we’ve seen the streaming service take inspiration from the likes of Hallmark and Lifetime to produce cookie-cutter Christmas romcoms guaranteed to numb your mind like one too many mulled wines.
Revolutionary these films are not, but boy, do they hit the spot during the festive season. With titles like The Princess Switch, The Knight Before Christmas and A Castle for Christmas on offer, audiences have learnt that no plot is too ludicrous for a Netflix Christmas romcom. The more time travel, magic, döppelgangers and fictional European royalty on offer, the better.
With that in mind, I’m taking a look at Netflix’s in-house Christmas romcoms and ranking them based on just how ridiculous they are. This list has also been updated for 2022, which means this is the...

Greta Gerwig’s highly anticipated Barbie has released its first trailer, teasing its star-studded cast of Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Simu Liu and Issa Rae.
Director Gerwig’s forthcoming rom-com, based on the famous toy doll, stars Robbie as the titular Barbie and Gosling as Ken, Barbie’s boyfriend.
Earlier this summer, fans got an early look at Robbie and Gosling in costume after leaked on-set photos of the pair rollerblading in Venice Beach, Los Angeles, made the rounds on social media.
Ever since, things have been pretty lock and key about the film except for the names attached and Robbie’s latest promise that it will be “everything you ever dreamed of”.
Now, on Friday (16 December), audiences were treated to the first “epic” trailer of the movie.

With the first season of "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" in the bag, it's clear that "Trek" shows — the live-action ones, anyway — haven't been this fun in a long time. The series has run the gamut of genres across its 10-episode season, from the kooky shore leave set-up of "Spock Amok" to full-out space horror in "All Those Who Wander." Notably, though, "Strange New Worlds" also keeps coming back to comedy. Space pirates? Medieval hijinks? Spock wearing an apron? It's the kind of out-of-the-box storytelling that made the original series such a weird and wonderful adventure.

Cicchino’s other credits include Game Shakers, The Adventures of Kid Danger, and The Sleepover. Kalopsis plays Brianna’s partner Tyler,...
