Little-known Israeli actor Gal Gadot is to play Wonder Woman in the forthcoming "Batman v Superman" movie, it has been revealed.
The appointment of the Fast & Furious 6 star ends months of speculation over whether DC Comics' best known female superhero would appear in the film, which is director Zack Snyder's sequel to this year's Superman reboot Man of Steel. The movie remains untitled but is known to centre on a conflict between the last son of Krypton and Gotham's dark knight. Along with Wonder Woman, other inhabitants of the DC universe such as The Flash and Nightwing are rumoured to be making appearances.

To those who’ve been clamoring for a Wonder Woman film, your prayers have been answered… more or less. Today comes the announcement that the oft-rumored “female lead” of Batman vs. Superman will, in fact, be Wonder Woman, and that DC‘s biggest superhero will be played by Israeli actress Gal Gadot, of the Fast & Furious franchise. It’s a momentous moment for Wonder Woman fans, superhero fans, and anyone who’s ever written a blog post entitled “Where’s My Wonder Woman Movie Already?” Here’s what Batman vs. Superman director Zack Snyder had to say on the matter: “Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of...

Danny Dyer's 'EastEnders' family have been unveiled in a new picture. The 36-year-old actor will first appear on the BBC One soap on Christmas Day (25.12.13) as new Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter, the brother of Shirley Carter (Linda Henry), and he comes across as smug and hard-nosed - much like many of Danny's movie characters - while gripping hold of his unimpressed-looking dog. No-nonsense Mick will be joined in Albert Square by his wife Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), son Johnny Carter (Sam Strike) and daughter Nancy Carter (Maddy Hill), all of whom are sporting huge glares in their first...

Why is it that female characters in films have reached a point where they are no longer considered strong or cool unless they employ violence? Is Hollywood teaching the wrong kind of Girl Power? We take a look at this growing trend in films and the impact it may be having.
When the Disney Princess collection was released, using an image of Brave heroine Merida without her bow-and-arrow, it led to big hullabaloo of complaints that the character was no longer cool. Lately, people seem to prefer female characters who participate in action and violence over those who do not. Now some might say “It’s about time! The 20th Century often depicted women as Damsels-in-Distress, so it’s good to see all these warrior women around in the 21st Century.” Perhaps so, but is this trend really challenging obsolete gender roles or is it a just reinforcement of traditional...

There are some plot details for the Justice League movie that have been making their way around the internet that originated at Live for Films. I have to say that I think the details are complete bullshit. The thing reads like silly fan fiction that packs everything from the DC universe into one movie. If this are real, there's no way they are going to be able to effectively pull it off. I seriously doubt this is the real deal so I wouldn't worry.
The last we heard about Justice League was that Warner Bros. wasn't going to use the script written by Will Beall and that if Man of Steel does well, the studio will green light the project and bring on Zack Snyder to direct. The source of the plot details, who goes by the named of “Good Samaritan”, says that the script is...

I am a movie buff. I follow shows like AMC’s Movie Talk via YouTube on a daily basis. I also check IMDb every day as well. Let’s face it in the culture of cinema; one of the most talked about things I’ve read about this year is a Justice League movie. This, of course, would be Warner Bros’ answer to last year’s mega-hit The Avengers. This film by itself went on to gross $623 million domestically and become the highest grossing film of the year.
We have to be honest, myself included, Warner Bros has not made the best films when it comes to their DC properties. Trying to bring Catwoman, Green Lantern and Jonah Hex in stand-alone films, have all failed in the process of establishment. Catwoman took $100 million to make but only ended up making 40% of its budget back in its total box office run.

As mentioned in part one, the film industry is a good place for ideas but not all those ideas will ultimately reach the big screen. Many projects are announced each year and most of them will reach the pre-production stage but many will go no further than that. Only about half of the films announced will ever be completed. For various reasons, many intended movies will just fade away. Some may die during the script writing stage, while other will actually begin production or even filming before the whims of fortune cause the demise of the project. Here is the second part of a list of 25 tantalizing unmade films that could have been classics.

Vulture says it has a source that says that someone at The CW says that there will be a new Wonder Woman TV series.
My first concern, like yours, should be that a company that chose the modern-yout'-appealin' name of 'The CW' is making this show. Second, that it is going the route of Smallville (or, as I like to call it, Muppet Babies) making everyone a teenager and incredibly stupid, thereby ruining stories by making their important moments take place when the character is 16 instead of, you know, as a grown person.
The CW, with Warner Bros. TV and DC Comics, are going to concentrate on Diana's (that's Wonder Woman) origin story. The story will be written by Allan Heinberg (he wrote Grey's Anatomy and The O.C. - two wildly popular, but wildly mediocre, series, though he Did also write a comic book in 2005 called Young Avengers, making him...

Once again, Doctor Who broke records over at the cable net BBC America. The seventh season opener, Asylum of the Daleks, became the most watched episode date, attracting some 1.5 million viewers, surpassing the series previous season opener, The Impossible Astronaut, which broke a record last years at 1.2 million.
Just after Syfy acquired the Canadian based time travel series Continuum, which co-stars Judas Kiss actor Richard Harmon, the cable net announced they have also picked up the BBC Worldwide/Sky 1 series Sinbad, which stars newcomer Elliot Knight and former Lost actor Naveen Andrews. Sinbad will begin airing in April, while Continuum has yet to be scheduled.

TV.com has obtained "leaked" clips from NBC and David E. Kelley's failed "Wonder Woman" pilot, starring former "Friday Night Lights" alum, and future former G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes alum, Adrianne Palick as the very titular* Wonder Woman. Undoubtedly, the most famous thing about this attempt at a live action Wondy will undoubtedly be the shiny blue pants seen 'round the world. Which pants? These pants:

Hollywood Gossip! Wonder Woman costume gets third celebrity makeover after criticism from Linda Carter? [Apr. 7] The new Wonder Woman outfit is not so super as an iconic costume says past Super Hero Linda Carter. Or at least that is what The Hollywood Reporter seemed to imply in an article about the celebrity makeover dated March 30. But what is the real story behind the comic book heroine and her keen fashion sense that made history? The new 2011 Hollywood version of the wardrobe for the gold rope toting gal who fought on the side of right while wearing American inspired patriotic emblems flashed across her boobs and back side in the days of old is now lackluster at best say bloggers and comic book fans. Proposed first as a modified sketch of the actress hired to play Wonder Woman, the Super Heroine was supposed to be dressed all in squeaky pleather looking vinyl.

NBC seems to have responded to the universal groan that accompanied the first peek at Adrianne Palicki's "Wonder Woman" costume. When we got our first peek earlier this month, Palicki was sheathed in what appeared to be bust-to-toe latex: a red bodice, blue "liquid" leggings and blue boots, all with a high gloss sheen reminiscent of a brand new Hummer.
But in a new set of pictures of Palicki posted on the U.K.'s Daily Mail, Palicki's look has definitely been tweaked. First, the blue leggings are now a matte finish, contrasting better with the glossy red bustier. And the boots are no longer blue as in the original pictures. They've been switched to cherry red leather, giving the entire look a balance that was totally missing before.
Here's a peek at the original, poured into look:

Now this is a project that has been struggling to gain any momentum for quite some time, beginning in March 2009 with a reported deal between Warner Bros. and Silver Pictures, that project gradually fizzled out and took a new direction as a television serial to be developed by Warner Bros. Television.
Of course following the announcement that Wonder Woman would be heading back to the small screen, fans, who had been watching the slow painful deterioration of the big screen project breathed a sigh of relief. After all, Wonder Woman is no stranger to TV as we all know, so here was a project far more manageable and likely to inspire audiences right?
Then came the news that Adrianne Palicki would be taking on the role as a more modern Diana Prince, corporate executive, modern woman, ass-kicking vigilante. Great! So no problems then, right?
Well, this brings me full circle...

For a while, we were teased with the possibility of a 'Wonder Woman' film, one possibly helmed by geek hero Joss Whedon, a geek role that courted names like Jennifer Love Hewitt, Megan Fox, Beyonce, Jessica Biel, Katie Holmes and more. But the big screen remained a boys' club of superheroes, and Diana Prince was tossed to the small screen.
Now we've got our first look at what a television version of 'Wonder Woman' looks like when it isn't in Linda Carter's hands. TV Squad has shared the first look at star Adrianne Palicki in her crime-fighting costume, and it's looking a whole lot more like a sexy, pvc foreplay getup than a tough and modernized superheroine.

After a bunch of fan speculation that's been going around for the past several months (possibly years), Adrianne Palicki has landed the coveted role of Wonder Woman, as the female superhero returns to TV.
Apparently, new NBC Programming President Bob Greenblatt is a D.C. fan. Earlier today, NBC announced that 27-year old Adrianne Palicki (Legion, TV’s Supernatural, TV’s Friday Night Lights) would portray corporate executive Diana Themyscira a.k.a. Wonder Woman in David E. Kelley’s hotly anticipated revival.
Of note, every network approached with Kelley’s script took a pass, leaving many to believe that Linda Carter would forever remain the only Wonder Woman we would ever have known. However, Greenblatt snatched up the project and everything is now full steam ahead.
Having starred on three seasons of Kelley’s other hit, Friday Night Lights, Palicki quite possibly had the role in the bag. According to sources,...

The rocky road the character of Wonder Woman has had to get to a feature film is as shaky as standing on cracking ice. We might be years away (and that’s being optimistic) from a film, but at least we’ve had her on TV. Once in the 1970s (Linda Carter!) and now again on NBC (here).
TV Line is reporting that McG (We Are Marshall, Terminator Salvation, Charlie’s Angels) is set to direct the pilot episode. No other tidbits yet. Boston Legal creator David E. Kelley is writing.

A couple of weeks ago, David E. Kelley’s Wonder Woman TV series, was seemingly shelved, no network was interested in picking up the price tag for the film, which included expensive production and licensing. However, NBC, has decided to take a chance on the series, even in the midst of a recent buy out by Comcast, new programming chief coming in and another executive on his way out.
Kelley remained optimistic and continued to pursue a network home for this long-gestating take on the crime fighting Amazonian. NBC, the last network to pass on Wonder Woman, has now given the proposed hour-long action drama a pilot greenlight. This decision came after a regime change was officially in place at the network in the wake of Comcast’s take over. NBC is now being overseen by Robert Greenblatt, the man responsible for revitalizing Showtime with series favorites Weeds and Dexter.

Suit up. Fight back.
We’re living in the Silver Age of superheroes in cinema. They’re the cornerstone of the multiplexes, but when it comes to TV, they’re still in the Golden Age, if at all. NBC had premiered The Cape, a new mid-season replacement series, and the show’s first two episodes offer us enough to discuss. Ultimately, the show wants to get picked up. But will it? Killer Film analyzes…
When it comes to superheroes on TV, we generally begin in the 1960′s, with two shows, in various quality, tone, and success. Airing on ABC was The Green Hornet, a series based on the radio shows of the 1940s (even though there were serials at the time) that last just two seasons. The series is remembered today as our first exposure to Bruce Lee as Kato (re-watch Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story for some great origins...

Guys, this is a match made in superhero heaven.
Christina Hendricks, one of the many beautiful and famous stars of AMC's Mad Men, might be nabbing a pretty iconic role. The actress, who plays Joan Harris on the Emmy-winning show, appeared on Rachael Ray earlier this week, where she dropped a bomb about playing the superheroine Wonder Woman for a much-talked-about television adaptation.
"I heard that rumour too - I don't know where it got started but I love it!" she enthused. "I've been wanting to wear that outfit my whole life! I'd love to [do it]. That would be such fun. Let's put it out there!"
The series is being pitched by Boston Legal's David E. Kelley, who is also known for creating Ally McBeal. The character hasn't appeared in live-action on television since Linda Carter portrayed the character in the 1970s.
Despite Hendricks's red locks, I would love to...

That squeal you heard last night was snicks when he read the press release that Mega Python vs. Gatoroid will premiere on SyFy Jan 29th. If you recall, this is the SyFy Original movie with 80’s pop princesses Debbie Gibson and Tiffany in a Dynasty-esque catfight.
Meanwhile, the squeal you heard this morning was also snicks when he read this and found this link to Linda Carter’s Rock ‘N Roll Fantasy. Whatever her producer was on, I wonder if you can still get it?
Kevin Bacon has confirmed that he’s playing the man with the awesome name, Sebastian Shaw in X-Men: First Class. But somewhat disappointingly he says he doesn’t do many action scenes, leaving that for the “younger actors.”
In a list of “wasteful spending” by Congress, it’s revealed that we spend $175 million each year maintaining empty Veteran’s Administration buildings. That includes an “octagonal,...

Remember last week when the Log Cabin Republicans went to Justice Kennedy and asked him to vacate the stay of the order ending Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell? The government today filed their opposition. The White House needs to pick a side, either they want the policy gone in Congress, and get aggressive, or drop the court opposition. They can’t have it both ways. And the report that the DoD commissioned shows they don’t have to.
Well, the casting on Hot In Cleveland was ruined for me today. Sherri Shepherd is going to play the judge tasked with deciding if Elka (Betty White) is competent to stand trail. Who here feels Sherri is competent to decide anything?
Nintendo is trying to trademark “It’s on, like Donkey Kong!” I think they’re a decade late, and utterly ridiculous.
Isaiah Washington, no stranger to saying things that totally tick people off,...

Wonder Woman might be able to vanquish foes with her bulletproof bracelets and her invisible jet, but one of her biggest challenges – getting on the big screen – has evaded her time and again. Now it would appear Warner Bros. has stopped thinking big and is turning its focus to TV. Warners’ TV arm is busy developing a modern-day take on the heroine, and has roped in Ally McBeal/Boston Legal/The Practice creator David E Kelley to take the first crack. While Kelley’s usual penchant for whimsical blends of comedy and drama seems like an odd match for the character, he has been known to create a strong female lead from time to time. And if anyone can channel the slightly campy elements of Wonder Woman’s story, it’s Kelley. Just as long as she isn't stick-thin and blonde this time. The woman also known as Princess Diana,...

Plus Elijah Wood talks to dogs, Kylie Minogue has Attitude, and Robyn's 3D music video.
Adorable little Elijah Woods is set to star in a pilot for FX called Wilfred, based on an Australian show of the same name. He plays opposite a foul-mouthed, pot smoking dog. The bonus is that this is not a CGI dog, but a guy in a dog costume. There are some highlights from the Aussie show at the link, but be warned about the language if you’re at work.
If you’re got a pair of red/blue 3D glasses lying around (and a door to your office for a lot of f-bombs) go check out Robyn’s interactive 3D video for her song “Killing Me” which punches the lyrics home by literally flying them in-your-face.

We always try to find out about celebrities' comics savvy when they drop by MTV HQ, and it was no different when "House M.D." actress Olivia Wilde dropped by to promote her role on the television series and the upcoming "Tron Legacy" movie. Voted the "Hottest Woman in the World" by Maxim Magazine, Wilde didn't do anything to shake off that title when she stopped to chat about the geekery she spotted around my desk (a.k.a. Splash Page HQ) on her way out of the newsroom.
While she certainly doesn't drop by her local comics shop each week, she did have a fun story about her earliest comics-related memory: a fascination with Wonder Woman fed by the presence of the real-life Wonder Woman, Linda Carter, in her neighborhood.
"When I was little, I wanted to be Wonder Woman," Wilde told MTV News. "And the real Wonder Woman lived on our block.

Wonder Woman! The most popular superhero costume for a woman on halloween and one of DC’s three consistent characters since 1944, Wonder Woman has been a staple in our culture for generations. She burst onto the scene in 1941 in All Star Comics #8 and hasn’t looked back since. Wonder Woman was created by Willaim Moulton Marston with the intent of being a feminist role model. Her (Wonder Woman aka Princess Diana aka Diana Prince) background consists of being one of the Amazon people sent here to spread the message of love, sexual equality, and peace in a world that was being polluted by the hatred and anger of men. Who knew that a comic from so long ago would have been such a messenger before it’s time, only to carry on after the feminist movement of the 70’s? Not to mention hold the title of being a memer of the trinity of DC comics?...
