Sergio González(XXXIII)
Sergio González Soriano, known simply as Sergio, is a professional Spanish football manager and former player who manages the LaLiga club Cádiz CF.
Prior to his managerial career, Sergio spent nearly a decade playing as a central midfielder for the Galician club Real Club Deportivo de La Coruña after starting at RCD Espanyol. In mid-July 2010, now at the age of 33, Sergio joined Levante UD where he played until his release in June 2011 due to several injury problems. Internationally, Sergio has also represented both Spain and Catalonia, making his debut for Spain on 24 March 2001 in a 5-0 win against Liechtenstein for the 2002 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Starting in 2013, Sergio began working as a manger at his childhood club RCD Espanyol, first, as the assistant manager to the B team. Quickly thereafter, he was promoted to head coach of Espanyol B, and in May 2014, he was named as the new manager of the first team. He was also named manager of the Catalonian national team in October 2015, a position he held until 2018. Sergio was relieved of his manager duties for Espanyol in December 2015. In April 2018, he was appointed manger of Real Valladolid where he remained until his dismissal in May 2021. In January 2022, Sergio replaced Álvaro Cervera as manager of Cádiz.
