Dwyane Wade recently opened up about why he decided to move his family out of Florida to California.
The three-time NBA champion stopped by Showtime’s new series, Headliners with Rachel Nichols, where he was asked about Florida politicians who are fans of his while also supporting LGBTQ policies that negatively affect his family.
“That’s another reason why I don’t live in that state,” he said in Thursday’s episode. “A lot of people don’t know that. I have to make decisions for my family, not just personal, individual decisions. Obviously, the taxes is great. Having Wade County is great. But my family would not be accepted or feel comfortable there. And so that’s one of the reasons why I don’t live there.”

A draft report analyzing the disastrous performance by Republicans in the 2022 midterms suggests it’s time to stop hawking claims of election fraud. The report, a portion of which was obtained by CNN, advises that voters have “no patience for endless conversations relitigating previous elections from Democrats and Republicans.”
Republicans approached the midterms confident that a “red tsunami” would rip control on Congress and state legislatures from Democrat’s hands. The promised red wave never manifested, Democrats retained control of the Senate, and Republicans secured only the narrowest of majorities in the House.

Dwyane Wade and his wife Gabrielle Union have long been supporters of LGBTQ+ rights in general, and of their 15-year-old daughter Zaya Wade, who is trans, in particular. In a new interview, Dwyane opened up about how his own dad, Dwyane Wade Sr., taught him to support Zaya, and why he and Union ultimately decided to move their family out of Florida in the wake of new anti-lgbtq+ laws.
Wade opened up about being a dad and supporting Zaya during an interview that aired on the Thursday, April 26, episode of Showtime's "Headliners with Rachel Nichols." Nichols asked Wade what it was like navigating Zaya's transition, and Wade teared up as he spoke about the example set by his own dad.
When Zaya first came out, he explained, "I didn't have a lot of exposure to the conversations of being anything but a cis man, right?" But he said that didn't mean he knew nothing,...

The wonderful folks at Pixar Animation are ready to unleash their 27th feature with the imaginative "Elemental." Drawing inspiration from director Peter Sohn's youth growing up as a second-generation immigrant in New York City, the film is a celebration of cultural and ethnic diversity, wrapped in a heartwarming romantic comedy. The story is said to be inspired by films like "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner," "Moonstruck," and "Amélie," but is presented in a way that appeals to audiences of all ages.
"Elemental" is also one of Pixar's most ambitious films to date, with producer Denise Ream telling Total Film Magazine, "We knew it was going to be hard. We didn't know it was going to be as hard as it was." As all of the characters are different elements, they all move in entirely different ways. Considering the film showcases an entire city of different elemental folk interacting with one another,...

Disney previewed 20 minutes of Pixar’s Elemental on Wednesday at CinemaCon, ahead of its May 27 world premiere at Cannes and June 16 theatrical release.
Directed by Peter Sohn (The Good Dinosaur), produced by Denise Ream and exec produced by Pete Docter, Elemental is set in Element City, where fire, water, land and air residents live together. Its themes include connection, celebrating differences, and finding your place in the world.
The story follows Ember, a tough, quick-witted and fiery young woman whose friendship with a sappy, go-with-the-flow guy named Wade challenges her beliefs about the world they live in, where “elements don’t mix.” Leah Lewis is the voice of Ember; Mamoudou Athie voices Wade.

Disney dedicated a huge chunk of its CinemaCon presentation to this summer’s original Pixar movie “Elemental,” as theater owners got to see the first 20 minutes of the film.
Directed by Peter Sohn and inspired by his immigrant parents’ life in New York, “Elemental” stars Leah Lewis and Mamoudou Athie as Ember and Wade, two residents of a city where personifications of water, fire, air and earth live alongside each other. But living alongside each other is as much as they can do, as fire elementals are physically incapable of touching water elementals just as earth elementals cannot touch fire elementals.
The film opens with Ember’s fiery parents, Bernie and Cinder arriving by boat to their new home with other travelers from air, earth and water. Murals show the arrival of those three elements to the city, but Bernie and Cinder are among the first fire elements to arrive at this new metropolis,...

While Friday’s Supreme Court ruling has protected access to a widely used abortion medication for now, abortions are currently banned in 14 states following the overturning of Roe v. Spanish-language TV giant TelevisaUnivision swung to a loss in the first quarter, on higher overall revenues.
But the net loss of $3 million for the three months to March 31, against a year-earlier profit of $36 million, was far narrower than the most recent fourth quarter of $1.59 billion due to a steep $1.66 billion non-cash impairment loss, mainly on its goodwill.
Overall revenue grew 6 percent to $1.1 billion during the latest quarter, as TelevisaUnivision included a full first quarter of ViX subscription revenue that the company did not break out in sign-ups. ViX launched in July in the U.S., Mexico and Latin America as the largest Spanish-language streaming service worldwide.
On Tuesday, TelevisaUnivision said it would end separate campaigns and separate brands for its ViX and ViX+ tiers inside of the same app to end confusion among audiences. “Based on everything we now know and significant incremental work around the brand, marketing and consumer engagement strategy,...

John Oliver took a few minutes out of Last Week Tonight to discuss a U.S. district judge’s recent ruling related to mifepristone, the most commonly used method of abortion.
Earlier this month, U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, a Trump appointee, ordered a hold on federal approval of the drug in a decision that overruled decades of scientific approval. At the same time, U.S. District Judge Thomas O. Rice, an Obama appointee, essentially ordered the opposite and directed U.S. authorities not to make any changes that would restrict access to the drug in at least 17 states where Democrats sued in an effort to protect availability.
“Like every fight that you’ve had with your uncle since 2016, we’re gonna start with abortion — the thing that Republican men love to ban almost as much as they love to secretly pay for,” Oliver joked toward the beginning of his HBO talk show.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 5 opens with shocking news from Mei Lin (Stephanie Hsu). Mei was pregnant and Joel Maisel (Michael Zegen) planned to marry her at the end of season 4. But marriage and a baby didn’t fit into Mei’s plans to become a doctor.
In an emotional scene, Mei tells Joel there is “no baby.” And that she plans to continue her pursuit of becoming a doctor in Chicago. The Maisel writers took care in addressing how the scene was handled. The word, “abortion” was not featured in the episode. But the actors and writing made it clear that Mei chose to terminate the pregnancy.

The Wade family had a special Easter celebration on April 9. Dwyane Wade, Gabrielle Union, and their 4-year-old daughter, Kaavia, sat courtside to support Wade's longtime teammate and Kaavia's godfather, Udonis Haslem, as he played his final season regular game following a 20-year career. Former Miami Heat teammates and supporters gathered for the game against the Orlando Magic to commemorate the veteran NBA player's farewell.
Subtly coordinating in matching outfits, Wade wore a red Valentino windbreaker and shorts, while Kaavia dressed in a white tank, black leather shorts, and mini red Jordans, made even more adorable with Easter bunny ears. Gabrielle, on the other hand, wore a casual black slip dress with sandals.
In photos and videos shared by her parents on social media, Kaavia was seen wearing a jersey with Haslem's name and number during the game, and afterward, hugging her godfather, who thanked the talented tot for attending the event.

“Lindsey Graham has never cried for a single child who has been murdered in a classroom in America. Not one,” O’Donnell said, naming the three children and three adults who were killed in the school shooting in Nashville just last week.
“Lindsey Graham did not shed a single tear for any one of those victims of America’s latest mass murderer who used an Ar-15 to fire 152 bullets in that school,” the host continued. “After that mass murder, Lindsey Graham proudly told reporters in Washington that he owns an Ar-15. When director Peter Sohn and producer Denise Ream began working on Elemental, they started with the idea of elements coming to life. This led to the creation of Element City, a sprawling metropolis filled with residents made of fire, water, earth and air. The story follows Ember (Leah Lewis), a fire resident working in her parents market, whose fiery temper leads her to a chance meeting with Wade (Mamoudou Athie), a sappy water resident working as a city inspector. While fire and water do not mix well, Ember and Wade find themselves forming an unlikely friendship. As Sohn and Ream were working on the project, they soon discovered how difficult it was to animate fire and water to give them emotional performances, without turning them into humans. Elemental premieres in theaters on June 16, 2023 with new animated short Carl’s Date.

One of those characters was notably Wade’s girlfriend, Vanessa. For such a grand gesture, it should be inevitable that actress Morena Baccarin is returning to the third, but according to Cbr, Baccarin is only in talks to return with a pending deal.
Baccarin recently appeared on Smallville actor Michael Rosenbaum’s podcast, Inside of You. Rosenbaum asked what kind of plans were being made for her return to Deadpool 3, and Baccarin would reply, “I have to be very...

Everyone survived the two-part event.
There were no casualties, and Addison was more determined than ever to get back on the road and continue her work by the end of Grey's Anatomy Season 19 Episode 12.
Join former TV Fanatic writer Meaghan Frey, diehard Grey's Fanatic, Caterina Scorsone/Amelia Shepherd fan, and aspiring actor still determined to get his guest starring credit on the series, Joshua Johnson, and TV Fanatic Senior Staff Writer Jasmine Blu as they discuss the hour.
Were you satisfied with the conclusion to the two-part event?
Meaghan: It was a bit anticlimactic in that the stories were not as dramatic as they were hyped up to be in the promos. However, I'm not complaining about that one bit.
We already saw one woman lose her life this season to drive home the potential consequences of the overturning of Roe v. Wade; we don't need to continue to...

On Tuesday, voters in Wisconsin will decide who they want to sit on the Supreme Court for the next 10 years. The jurist who wins that election will weigh in on hundreds of cases over the next decade, but for many doctors the race is about just one of them: the lawsuit that will determine whether a 1849 ban on abortion remains in effect.
The Wisconsin law makes it a felony to perform an abortion at any stage of pregnancy. The law — rendered dormant for five decades by Roe v. Wade — went...

In the mid-2000s, one of the main selling points in mainstream horror was the so-called Torture Porn scene. Emphasizing extreme violence, brutality, and relentless torture and suffering from its victims at the expense of traditional suspense and chills, the scene had a massive amount of mainstream appeal thanks to films like “Saw,” “Hostel,” “Wolf Creek,” and “The Collector” among others bringing about massive financial gain and audience acceptance which brought about numerous attempts throughout the world. After the Japanese effort “Grotesque” started the Asian countries jumping on the trend, Taiwanese director Kevin Ko tackled the genre with his debut feature “Invitation Only” which is now available on physical media from Unearthed Films.

Grey's Anatomy is not letting up with its timely and ongoing take on the overturning of Roe v. Wade and the ramifications of it, and it's commendable.
Addison returned for Grey's Anatomy Season 19 Episode 11, and it was a powerful installment, as well as Kim Raver's noteworthy directorial debut on the series.
And with that cliffhanger, it just knocks the wind out of you.
Grey's has done a fantastic job of both being bold and unapologetic with their putting the spotlight on women's health issues and managing to do so without feeling preachy or inorganic.
They've been depicting every aspect of what this federal decision does and has been doing for women nationwide. They're using their stories as an educational tool and an act of resistance.
No one is a better face for this battle, capturing all the heartache, despair, righteous anger, frustration, and more than Addison Montgomery.

Note: The following discusses spoilers for “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 19 Episode 11.
ABC touted Thursday’s episode of “Grey’s Anatomy” as the beginning of an intense two-part event for the long-running medical drama. With a season-long storyline on women’s rights and reproductive rights coming to a head, the return of Kate Walsh’s Addison Montgomery and a life-threatening cliffhanger, the hour delivered in spades.
The hour also marked a major milestone for longtime cast member Kim Raver (who plays newly appointed chief or surgery Teddy Altman), as she stepped into the TV director’s chair for the first time for one of Season 19’s most pivotal episodes yet.
Titled “Training Day,” the episode revolved around the Grey Sloan Memorial hospital staff preparing to host a seminar for out-of-state Ob-gyn practitioners with the help of fan-favorite Dr. Addison Montgomery. The doctor, who was a series regular on “Grey’s” in Season 2-...

Lotus drummer Chuck Morris and his son Charley are feared dead after the pair went missing over a week ago.
Morris, 47, and his 20-year-old son had gone on a kayaking trip in Arkansas when they disappeared.
The pair were reported missing after they vanished on Beaver Lake on Thursday (16 March).
A rescue mission ensued from the Cajun Coast Search and Rescue team, who searched the 31,000 acre lake, CBS News reports.
However, due to failed attempts to find the father and son, the mission has now changed to a recovery search.
The band posted on social media to update fans on the situation, writing: "We were all hoping for a miracle, but at this point, the search for Chuck and Charley has moved to a recovery.”
“With help from K9 teams, there is a probable location on the lake, but logistical challenges including temp, weather, and depth have prevented a recovery thus far.

Two years ago, Accused Season 1 Episode 9 might have seemed dystopian. Less than a year after the Supreme Court dismantled protections afforded women with Roe vs. Wade, effectively transferring the matter to the states, it's our reality.
"Jack's Story" found Jack at the heart of a terrible situation in which one of his students desperately wanted to terminate her pregnancy but without a tenable route to do it.
Enter Jack, the teacher with a heart of gold, who made her problem his problem, everyone else be damned. It caused him much more than he bargained, but he didn't lose the women he loved, Britney, played by For All Mankind's Wrenn Schmidt.
I tuned into this episode just minutes after reading that the governor of Wyoming was looking to ban the morning-after pill, and as many southern states are considering the death penalty for women seeking abortion services.
It creates a very uneasy feeling,...

Documentary filmmaker Jialing Zhang, who was nominated for an Emmy for “One Child Nation,” spoke to Variety about her latest film, “Total Trust,” which is running in the main competition at Cph:dox, the Copenhagen Intl. Documentary Festival.
It tells the chilling story of three women and their families fighting for their human rights in China, where state control is ubiquitous thanks to high technology surveillance, such as facial recognition, big data analysis and points systems that mean citizens gain or lose points depending on their behavior.
Zhang’s intimate footage offers unprecedented access to the impact of this all-controlling system on the protagonists’ everyday lives.
“We didn’t just want to do a film about surveillance but about the people living in this kind of society. We wanted to reach a certain emotional depth and complexity – to try to grasp the anger, the horror, but also the hope, through the...

Zaya Wade just debuted a hair metamorphosis. The model and activist appeared on the latest cover of Dazed and Confused magazine sporting a "mixie" haircut, a popular haircut trend that we've seen pop up repeatedly over the last month. Celebrity hairstylist Miles Jeffries created the look for Wade, which was shared on March 16 via Instagram. Wade's take on the trend features a deep side part and side-swept bangs.
The cut, which first began gaining traction in January 2022, is similar to the "bixie." "A mixie is an edgy haircut that is longer in the back, like a mullet, and short, like a pixie, in the front," celebrity hairstylist Jenny Cho previously told Popsugar. The cut is great for all hair types and textures and is known for its versatility when it comes to styling.

Vice President Kamala Harris returned to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday, where she discussed laws currently being passed about reproductive rights, calling them “inhumane.” She also shared her thoughts on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis‘ claim that the war on Ukraine is a “territorial dispute” and what she believes will be the key issues in the 2024 presidential election.
“I think it’s the height of irresponsibility,” Harris said when Colbert asked her about the many laws that have been drafted since Roe v. Wade was overturned. “In fact, in many cases [it’s] inhumane what has been happening in states around our country that are passing laws that would criminalize health care providers, literally provide for jail time for doctors and nurses who provide reproductive health care, that would punish women for simply seeking the kind of care that they choose, that they need.”

When Ryan Raftery hits the stage at Joe’s Pub this week in Mother of the Year, a parody musical inspired by iconic Hollywood momager Kris Jenner, he’ll have something special in his arsenal: a wig that may or may not have sat on her head.
“Kris’ hair guy sent me a wig, but I’m not 100 percent sure it was Kris’ wig,” Raftery tells The Hollywood Reporter of the stylist who reached out after hearing he was doing a Jenner-inspired musical to “essentially say he wanted to be sure I got the look right.”
Raftery is less interested in confirming the wig’s rightful owner than expressing what it means to have it in his possession. “Whether or not it actually ever sat on her head, having a piece of wardrobe that, even tangentially, comes from her camp is major,” he tells THR. “It’s like putting...
