It’s been a couple years since instrumental noise-rock veterans Explosions in the Sky have hit the road, but that changes today. The band has announced a 20th anniversary tour beginning September 11th in Mesa, Arizona.
The band announced the run with a tweet: “Hi everyone, our band turns 20 years old this year and to celebrate we’re playing some shows this Fall. We hope to see some of you out there. And thanks for sticking with us for so long. We truly appreciate it.”

We learned not too long ago that David Gordon Green has made a movie that’s so low budget and has so much indie cred, nobody even heard about it until it was already finished shooting. It’s called Prince Avalanche, it stars Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch as a couple of road workers painting the lines on isolated and little used roads, and it’s a remake of a 2011 Icelandic film called Either Way. Since most everyone is in agreement that the David Gordon Green who makes small, experimental films is the best David Gordon Green there is, said news was generally accepted as being good news. But things get even better. Now there’s word that this new film will be bringing back memories of Green’s earlier, indie-r work even more so than we may have imagined. Consequence of Sound is reporting that Austin, Texas band Explosions in the Sky have agreed to make...

After going big on his last few projects, director David Gordon Green recently, and secretly, shot a small comedy called Prince Avalanche. It was just last week we were discussing directors who should return to their pasts and with Green remaking Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurðsson's Á annan veg (Either Way), it sounds like he may have heeded our advice. Okay, I doubt he was listening, but the (largely) two character dramedy about a couple of highway maintenance men, played by the excellent pair of Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch, could finally be that return to form. And the news that fellow Austin artists, rock group Explosions in the Sky, would be scoring Prince Avalanche doesn't hurt either since all their previous collaborations with the director came early in his career. In the middle of Explosions recent interview with Consequence of Sound, guitarist Munaf Rayani revealed that the band has agreed...

One of the most intriguing movies of the year seems to have arrived out of thin air. Last week it was revealed that David Gordon Green had teamed up with Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch and shot a movie completely under the radar. "Prince Avalanche," a remake of the Icelandic film "Either Way" ("Á annan veg"), follows two highway maintenance men who work together in the barren wilderness, and chronicles their evolving friendship. We figured this might be just a low-key indie that Green will get out there before starting work this fall on his "Suspiria" remake, but now there's an exciting new twist.
Chatting with Consequence Of Sound, Munaf Rayani, guitarist for Texas post-rock favorites Explosions In The Sky, revealed that the band is tuning up Green's film. “It’s pretty serendipitous that I am speaking to you now because a film is currently being made by filmmaker David Gordon Green,...
