It’s case closed for The Rookie: Feds. The ABC series isn’t getting a season 2. The Rookie spinoff starred Niecy Nash-Betts as Simone Clark, the oldest rookie FBI agent.
‘The Rookie’ spinoff canceled after one season at ABC
The Rookie: Feds premiered in 2022 and wrapped up its first season in May 2023. While The Rookie earned a season 6 renewal in April, ABC held off on making a decision about the future of Feds, leaving the show in limbo throughout the months-long WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
Now, with the writers’ strike over and the actors’ union having reached a tentative deal with the studios, the network has decided not to move forward with The Rookie: Feds Season 2, Deadline reports.

Exclusive: Veteran talent agent Melisa Spamer, who most recently ran Domain Talent, is joining the talent department of Innovative Artists. She will be based at Innovative Artists’ Los Angeles office.
Spamer began her career at Metropolitan Talent Agency before founding Domain Talent in 2005 with former partners Gabrielle Krengel and Joe Vance in 2005. Over the next decade, Domain grew into a top-tier boutique talent agency. After Krengel died in 2015, the agency carried on for several more years. The surviving partners ultimately parted ways after Spamer took Vance to court and obtained sole control of Domain.

Lifetime has greenlighted a pair of original movies based on popular novels written nearly two centuries apart. The cable net said today that Pride and Prejudice: Atlanta, a contemporary take on Jane Austen’s early 19th century classic, and an adaptation of Adriana Trigiant’s 2009 book Very Valentine will premiere next year.
Pride and Prejudice: Atlanta features an African-American cast led by Reginald VelJohnson as Reverend Bennet, a pastor of a prominent Southern Baptist church, and his wife, Mrs. Bennet (Jackée Harry), author of a self-help book on how to find the perfect husband. Needless to say, Mrs. Bennet is less than thrilled that all five of their daughters — Lizzie (Tiffany Hines), Jane (Raney Branch), Mary (Brittney Level), Lydia (Reginae Carter) and Kitty (Alexia Bailey) — are still single. When the very eligible Will Darcy (Juan Antonio) arrives in town, Mrs. Bennet sets her sights on the handsome bachelor for daughter Lizzie,...

[Editor’s Note: The following contains spoilers from “The Virgin Sacrifice,” the season finale of “Midnight, Texas.”]
In a surprisingly romantic season finale, “Midnight, Texas” took a significant departure from the books it’s based on by moving one love scene back behind closed doors. On the show, a demon wants to mate with Fiji (Parisa Fitz-Henley) because she’s a powerful virgin witch. Her plan is to go through with it but kill the demon in the act, since she’s accidentally killed someone once before when she was in the throes of passion. Her love interest Bobo (Dylan Bruce) has other ideas though, and realizes that if he sleeps with her, she will no longer be a virgin. Therefore, the budding couple move to the next level of intimacy while a war between good and evil is waged outside.
In the novels by Charlaine Harris that inspired the series, Fiji’s plan plays out more dramatically and in a far ickier way. She makes the...

After spending three years in prison, Ashley Douglas (played by “The Wire” alum Andre Royo) returns to his old neighborhood hoping to pick up his life right where he left off. However, he soon finds that there is little waiting for him out there. His girlfriend Linda and even his own family have moved on and forgotten about his existence. That’s where “Hunter Gatherer” picks up, and from there, it takes some inventive and unique turns.
For the main character in his feature debut, writer/director Joshua Locy drew inspiration from the story of a close friend named Eddie, “an optimistic, hopeful, inspiring man whose life before I met him had been full of obstacles and hard times and struggles and small victories. I wanted to make a film that combined my love and respect for Eddie with a small, anecdotal love story. I hoped that the simplicity and...

"And where did your voyage take you to today, my Lord?" The Orchard has released a full theatrical trailer for an indie film titled Hunter Gatherer, the feature debut of Josh Locy, which won the Best Actor Jury Prize at the SXSW Film Festival. Andre Royo (who won the SXSW award) stars as Ashley, a middle-aged man who emerges from a 3-year stint in prison, with a great amount of optimism and hope. He heads home to learn that girlfriend and family have completely forgotten about him. Also starring George Sample III, Kellee Stewart and Ashley Wilkerson; and executive produced by David Gordon Green. It's described as a "bittersweet, darkly comic tale of seeking out one's destiny — but discovering an unexpected fate along the way." This looks like it might be an underrated gem, worth checking out for the performances at least. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Joshua Locy's Hunter Gatherer,...

After his career-defining role in The Wire, Andre Royo‘s output has yet to slow down in front of the camera. His latest role, in Josh Locy‘s feature debut Hunter Gatherer, earned him a Best Actor award at South by Southwest Film Festival earlier this year, and it will arrive in theaters next week. Ahead of the debut, the first trailer has now debuted.
Executive produced by David Gordon Green, Variety said in their review it’s “a highly eccentric, funny-sad tale of friendship and failure that occupies a curious space between inner-city realism and almost childlike myth.” That certainly comes across in this trailer, which has a strong mix of comedy and drama, with a powerful-looking performance from Royo. Ashley Douglas thinks everything should fall into place when he’s released after three years in prison.
Also starring George Sample III, Kellee Stewart and Ashley Wilkerson, check out the trailer below.

Ashley Douglas is just making a living. Recently released from prison after three years, the one-time ex-con, played by “The Wire” favorite Andre Royo, is back on the streets and hopeful that his life is finally going to fall back into place. Despite his very best intentions — and a scrappy can-do attitude — that’s not exactly what happens in Josh Locy’s feature directorial debut.
Royo, who picked up a Special Jury Award for his performance at this year’s SXSW Film Festival, where the film made its bow, goes all out as the luckless Ashley, who emerges back into the “real world” to find that very little has waited for him, including his beloved girlfriend Linda. As Ashley sets out to make his way in a time and place he no longer recognizes, he takes up with a compelling loner named Jeremy (George Sample III), and the duo pull...

Four years on from the success of the first film, Craig Robinson and co. are back for another bout of time-travelling comedy in Hot Tub Time Machine 2.
Landing at Christmas this year, the sequel sees the gang accidentally transported into the future, and though they’re minus one John Cusack this time around, this first red-band trailer suggests it won’t miss a beat.
Rob Corddry and Clark Duke complete the leading trio, with Adam Scott joining them in Cusack’s place, and support from Chevy Chase, Gillian Jacobs, Christine Bently, and Kellee Stewart.
Steve Pink is back in the director’s chair with another script from Josh Heald.
Hot Tub Time Machine 2 will hit cinemas in the Us on Christmas Day before arriving on Boxing Day in the UK. For now, here’s the great first trailer, and a reminder that it’s highly unsuitable for work.

Fate finally reared its ugly head on Witches of East End‘s Oct. 27 episode, claiming the victim of Ingrid’s (Rachel Boston) resurrection spell. Worried that Adam (Jason George) would pay the penalty for her witchy crimes, Ingrid ended their dinner date before they even started eating. After all, if she didn’t let herself love him, he couldn’t be the loved one she would lose. Exclusive: ABC is keeping single-camera comedy pilot Middle Age Rage in contention by extending the options on the cast until September so it has more time to contemplate the project’s future. Created by Cheryl Holliday, Middle Age Rage stars Annie Mumolo as a middle-aged wife and mother who is fed up with feeling invisible and begins to speak up and demand the respect she feels she’s earned. The Amblin TV/ABC Studios pilot flew largely under the radar until it started getting positive feedback after it was delivered to the network. Middle Age Rage was among the large pool of half-hour pilots that were in the running at ABC this year. The network and ABC Studios also tried to get another well-received comedy pilot that didn’t make the cut in May, Bad Management, picked up to series through an alternative production model but the idea didn’t pan out.

An impressive total of 10.1 million people watched Zooey Deschanel’s New Girl premiere last night. I was one of them. And an extraordinarily large number of people enjoyed the show. I was not one of them.
Admittedly, I was predisposed to not liking it. Though I enjoyed blonde Deschanel in Elf, I have disliked mostly everything brunette Deschanel has done in recent years. That is, besides The Happening, because it’s impossible to dislike a movie that awesomely awful. No season five for Pj and the guys. As expected, TBS has cancelled My Boys after four seasons on the air.
My Boys revolves around Chicago sports writer Pj Franklin (Jordana Spiro) and her close group of male friends. Castmembers include Jamie Kaler, Jim Gaffigan, Kellee Stewart, Kyle Howard, Michael Bunin, and Reid Scott.
It's been suspected for awhile that TBS wasn't going to bring the show back for a fifth season but the cable channel wouldn't confirm it. Speculation was that TBS execs feared that, by admitting the show was ending without a true series finale, not as many viewers would tune in.
