Chips(1940-1946)
Chips (1940-1946) was a German Shepherd-Collie-Husky mix owned by Edward J. Wren of Pleasantville, New York and loaned to the U.S. Army during the second World War. He served as a trained sentry dog and reputedly was the most decorated war dog from World War II for his service in eight campaigns. He was awarded the Army Distinguished Service Cross, a Silver Star, a Purple Heart, a European theater ribbon with an arrowhead device (assault landing), and eight battle stars.
