When season 2 of And Just Like That… ended, Carrie Bradshaw was seated on a beach with Seema Patel. The pals, caught in different types of limbo with their respective lovers, seemed to find comfort in each other’s company. While Patel’s break had a near-future endpoint, Carrie’s potential reunion with Aidan Shaw was much further away.

Candace Bushnell is not creatively attached to And Just Like That…, the Sex and the City reboot. She still has plenty of opinions on Carrie Bradshaw’s love life, though. In a recent interview, Bushnell confidently asserted that Carrie Bradshaw probably could have been pretty happy with how her life would have turned out if she had married Aidan Shaw. The statement starkly contrasts Bushnell’s thoughts on the subject just a year ago.
Candace Bushnell thinks Carrie and Aidan could have been happy together
Candace Bushnell has seemingly changed her stance on Carrie Bradshaw’s love life. As the author of Sex and the City and the inspiration for Carrie Bradshaw, no one would know better who the quirky sex columnist belonged with, yet she remains unsure. In 2023, the famed author took to X to reveal that she didn’t think either one of Carrie’s “big loves” was the right fit for her.

Blue Bloods returns after a brief hiatus for the final four episodes of Season 14 Part One.
The final season of the hit CBS show has been divided into two parts, with the final eight episodes airing next fall.
Well, that is unless Blue Bloods fans get their wish and CBS renews the show at the last minute, just like with S.W.A.T.
CBS likely won’t decide about the fate of Blue Bloods until next year, but the good news is that the fans have been loud telling the network to “cancel the cancel.”
In the meantime, summer break is on the horizon, bringing the first part of Blue Bloods Season 14 to an end.
Let’s examine what we know about the remaining Blue Bloods Season 14 spring episodes.

Actor Andrew Scott recently joined the 77th BAFTA Awards ceremony in support of his 2023 romantic fantasy film All of Us Strangers, which received six nominations, including Outstanding British Film and Best Director. However, he encountered a rough start to the evening as he faced uncomfortable questioning regarding Barry Keoghan’s performance in Saltburn. Directed by Emerald Fennell, the film has been in conversations due to its unsettling and explicit scenes, particularly Keoghan’s fully nude dance scene.

A BBC journalist conducting an interview with Scott at the 2024 BAFTA Awards seemed pretty fixated on obtaining the actor’s perspective on Keoghan’s nude scenes in the film and repeatedly asked him some uncomfortable questions about it, leading the Irish actor to abruptly end the interview midway and leave the scene.

Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle seems to have spilt audiences and critics all over the world. From being branded as over-the-top fun, to the worst film of the year. While it’s neither of them, at times it can be argued that it’s fallen into each argument.
Bryce Dallas Howard plays Elly Conway, an author who has written a series of best-selling spy novels, all of which focus on the heroic action hero, Argylle. We first see agent Argylle in action, played by Henry Cavill, who has, unfortunately, been given the worst haircut ever put to screen. Sporting his dreadful haircut he’s on a mission, one that is filled with over-the-top dialogue and action, and some of the worst CGI you’re likely to see,...

British filmmaker Matthew Vaughn’s helmed a gonzo fantasy with a cross-dressing Robert De Niro, a vigilante superhero flick with a foul-mouthed, killer kid, and a delirious spin on Bond with Colin Firth. But Argylle, his $200 million globe-trotting espionage thriller, has proven to be his most divisive film yet.
The film follows Elly Conway (Bryce Dallas Howard), a novelist/homebody whose series of spy books about Aubrey Argylle (Henry Cavill) have captured the public’s imagination. One day, she encounters an actual superspy, Aidan (Sam Rockwell), on a train who...

This post contains spoilers for "Argylle."
"Argylle" arrives in theaters this weekend, and even though critics aren't being overly kind to Matthew Vaughn's latest spy action venture, yours truly had an enjoyable time with the twist-filled story, especially once the hinges are blown off the familiar formula and the "Kingsman" filmmaker really gets to cut loose with a pair of absolutely cuckoo action sequences, the likes of which we've never seen on the big screen before. Initially, I wished the entire movie had that kind of unrestrained madness, but reaching that level of zaniness requires a gradual ascent rather than full-bore throwing you into the insanity from the get-go.
Even if you walked away from "Argylle" frustrated or confused by the movie's many twists and turns, you can't help but admire Vaughn's penchant to take an action movie off the rails. In this case, the third act of...

Argylle isn’t likely to gain the fame and following of other fictional spies like James Bond, Jack Ryan, and Jason Bourne. The slick, charming spy with a weird box haircut is introduced in director Matthew Vaughn’s 2024 action comedy as the creation of reclusive author Elly Conway (Bryce Dallas Howard).
The PG-13 film begins with the titular character (Henry Cavill) trapped in a room with multiple assassins. He quickly uses his skills and a smoke screen to escape and gives chase to a double agent (Dua Lipa) trying to flee the country.
Cut to Conway who’s doing a celebrity author reading to help publicize her latest novel. To her fans, Elly seems to have it all. Her writing’s so descriptive and realistic that fans even...

Beware of major spoilers for "Argylle" in the following article.
If you catch "Argylle" in theaters this weekend, you'll be treated to a spy action blockbuster packed with so many twists and turns that you can't help but have a good time. Director Matthew Vaughn delivers some wild action sequences, and Sam Rockwell teamed with Bryce Dallas Howard is a surprisingly fantastic pairing. But when a movie has so many plot twists, there's bound to be some confusion. For example, there's a credits scene that might leave some scratching their head if they haven't been keeping up with the inspiration behind the movie. But besides that, the ending of "Argylle" blatantly sets up a sequel with a reveal that adds a new wrinkle to what is arguably the movie's biggest twist.

L to R: Henry Cavill, Dua Lipa, and John Cena in Argylle, directed by Matthew Vaughn
It feels as though there are one, or two, films that want to “push” against the standard movie-releasing rules as January slowly (with those recent temps it feels like crawling) gives way to February. The big splashy noisy action blockbusters are supposed to be waiting in the wings for the warmer times, but since this is from “Marv maverick” Matthew Vaughn, of course it’s not going to adhere to anyone’s rules. The guiding force behind the Kingsman and King’S Man franchises (and a pivotal entry in the X_MEN multiverse) attempts to get another series going by mixing in a bit more comedy and even a touch of romance and fantasy as he hopes we will be swept up in the world of Argylle.
And just what does the title mean?...

This article contains massive spoilers for "Argylle."
In June of 1970, writer Richard Matheson published the short story "Button, Button." It would inspire a radically unique cinematic adaptation as well as several other official and unofficial retellings. One of its central themes is identity. The characters discover, to their horror, that they don't know themselves, let alone those around them.
That theme is a tenet of the spy genre, and it's no surprise why the genre continues to enjoy such rampant popularity despite the Cold War (arguably the most prolific period for espionage) three decades removed. It has become nearly inextricable from the action genre (thanks in large part to James Bond), and also directly addresses the blurring of reality and fiction where cinema excels. After all, what is spycraft but another form of acting? Furthermore, if someone is called upon to pretend to be someone else for a living, it...

Sam Rockwell probably isn’t anyone’s idea of a suave secret agent, but that seems to be just the point for director Matthew Vaughn. He cast the Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri Oscar winner against type and let him rip with a witty, eminently watchable performance that lets him steal every scene he is in.
If only the movie, Argylle, were a star vehicle for him in the same way that, say, Hitchcock’s North by Northwest was for Cary Grant in its day, this pseudo spy thriller might have been a classic. But unfortunately too much of it, especially the final half hour of this two-hour-plus frenetic action picture, just throws it all against the wall to see what sticks. For the past decade, "Kick-Ass" and "X-Men: First Class" director Matthew Vaughn has been entrenched in the world of high-class spies, thanks to the "Kingsman" franchise. Though "Argylle" keeps the filmmaker firmly in the spy action genre, the film offers Vaughn the chance to venture into somewhat different territory thanks to the movie's many twists and turns, including a couple of showstopping action sequences, the likes of which you've never seen on the big screen before. But we're getting ahead of ourselves.
On the surface, "Argylle" takes cues from movies like 1984's "Romancing the Stone" and the more recent "The Lost City," each featuring stories where a female novelist becomes entrenched in exactly the kind of real action and adventure that she's only imagined in the pages of books. This time, it's Bryce Dallas Howard as Elly Conway, the author behind the successful, ongoing spy novel series "Argylle." Elly has...

What looks like diamonds but on closer inspection turns out to be little more than reams of cheap polyester? Why, argyle, of course — that preppy pattern found on socks and sweaters, and an apt name for the latest kooky spy caper from Matthew Vaughn. The erstwhile “Kick-Ass” director has been trapped in “Kingsman” mode for so long (going on a decade now) that it feels like we’ve lost him to that kind of live-action cartoon forever, cramming Gen Z James Bond riffs with disco music and outrageous greenscreen shenanigans.
“Argylle” boasts an entirely new set of characters, but sticks to Vaughn’s CG-exaggerated aesthetic as hacky spy novelist Elly Conway (Bryce Dallas Howard) gets pulled into a scheme nearly identical to the one she described in her bestselling series of books. She invented a character called Agent Argylle who’s uncovered a secret division of rogue agents, creatively named the Division.

Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle is a caper whose lack of charm prevents it from transcending the thinness of its high-concept premise. At the film’s heart is a frustrated novelist, Elly Conway (Bryce Dallas Howard), who discovers that the plots of her pulpy spy novels have inadvertently aligned with the real activities of a renegade organization led by the ruthless Ritter (Bryan Cranston). When Ritter orders Elly eliminated for threatening to expose his activities, the woman must rely on a competing spy, Aidan (Sam Rockwell), for protection.
With the anxiety-ridden, self-doubting Elly suddenly thrust into a life-or-death scenario, the film turns into a broad comedy, which Vaughn plays up with action scenes whose clear sense of movement is their only distinguishing qualities. The closest thing that he has to a visual stamp is an over-reliance on slow motion, stretching out every single stunt so that the viewer can study the grotesque,...

It’s often said that before even considering building a new franchise, one should prioritize the individual success of the first film. That was the case with the Kingsman saga, which only took off after confirming its commercial and financial triumph. Its creator, Matthew Vaughn, now decides to expand it into a cinematic universe – with the intention of eventual crossovers – by assembling a new trilogy, starting precisely with Argylle. Walking into the theater, expectations weren’t particularly high – online debates about Henry Cavill‘s (Mission: Impossible – Fallout) ridiculous haircut didn’t form a very positive environment – but there was a reasonable hope for a pleasant cinephilic morning.
Beyond the star-studded cast, I was aware of the intriguing narrative premise. Argylle tells the story of Elly Conway – portrayed by Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World Dominion) – an author of a highly successful spy book series. However, when her fictional plots begin to...

When British producer-director Matthew Vaughn’s latest had its red-carpet premiere in London in mid-January 2024, the film made local headlines for reasons probably not intended by the filmmakers and their distributor, Universal. Alongside the usual PR-driven fluff about the sparkly frocks stars Dua Lipa and Bryce Dallas Howard were wearing, and the argyle-patterned evening gown sported by producer Claudia Schiffer (who is also Vaughn’s partner), there was much ado about Schiffer’s key accessory of the evening: a matching backpack with a round plastic window enclosing her cat Chip, a fetching gray Scottish Fold who also plays a major role in the film.
From where I was sitting, some distance from the stage, Chip looked grumpy and a little alarmed when taken out of the bag and shown off in front of the auditorium. Then again, that breed always looks a little grumpy. Nevertheless, there were soon outraged national media headlines,...

The fifth episode of “America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League” upped the ante on the immense level of talent thanks to the first group of semi-finalists. But one particular moment stood out for all the wrong reasons, as judge Heidi Klum called out one of the contestants, magician Anna Deguzman, for being “rude” toward her fellow panelist, Mel B. In the end, the Season 18 runner-up offered up a heartfelt apology, but not before Heidi told her, “That did not make me like you so much.”
It all started when Anna asked Mel and Howie Mandel to help her out with her close-up trick on the big stage. Midway through the act, the Bergenfield, NJ magician instructed Mel to pick either a $1 bill or a $100 bill, and when Mel inexplicably chose a $20 bill (which was not one of the options), Anna chuckled and stated, “It’s okay, you’re pretty.”

Terry Crews is back once again for hosting duties.
Over eight weeks of shows, the judges’ Dream Teams of 10 will be narrowed down until only one stands as the newest AGT champion and takes home the $250,000 cash prize.
