Elton John was inspired to become a father after the sudden death of his friend. The "Rocket Man" singer, who, along with husband David Furnish, celebrated the birth of son Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John on Christmas Day, December 25, 2010 via a surrogate mother, had previously resisted David's pleas for them to start a family together but changed his mind after musician Guy Babylon died of a heart attack in September 2009.

You may not know the name Guy Babylon but you definitelyhave heard him play. Babylon was the keyboardist with the Elton John band,recording and touring with the legendary musician for 21 years. When he died suddenlyin September of 2009, he left behind not only a musical legacy, but a wife, two sons and a daughter. The 53-year-old musician, composer and arranger also passed down hisincredible talent to his youngest child, then 11-year-old Ben.
We were fortunate to spend a bit of time with the young Babylon and his mother,Kathy, also a singer-songwriter. And we were excited to get a glimpse of atalented boy, who is clearly on the cusp of becoming an international sensation.

Adoption maybe on the way for gay couple Elton John and David Furnish. The musician has expressed his interest to adopt a Ukrainian toddler named Lev, whom he and David met while they were touring a local orphanage on Saturday, September 12 as part of his AIDS Foundation work. To reporters, Elton said the sudden death of one of his closest friends, keyboardist Guy Babylon last week has inspired him to do the adoption.
"It broke my heart because he was such a genius and so young and has two wonderful children," he stated. "What better opportunity to replace someone I lost than to replace him with someone I can give a future to."
