PinkPantheress is ready to get back to the music with the release of her latest single, “Turn it Up,” marking the musician’s first release since sharing her debut album Heaven Knows in 2023. The propulsive, skittering record builds around a sample of Selena Quintanilla’s “Dreaming of You.”
“Super excited to share my first release of 2024, turn it up, so proud to pay homage to a beautiful song and I hope the people love it too,” PinkPantheress, who wrote and produced the song, shared in a statement. Throughout “Turn it Up,...

It was a clean sweep for Taylor Swift at the 2024 Gold Derby Music Awards. She came into our fourth annual event with nine nominations and walked away with nine victories including Artist of the Year for the fourth year in a row. Watch the announcement video above for winners in all categories, and scroll down for the complete list.
In the history of the GDMAs thus far, Swift is the only artist who has won Artist of the Year. She’s also the only artist who has won Record of the Year and Song of the Year. Though PinkPantheress’s Heaven Knows is dotted with samples across its runtime, the British singer’s debut album nonetheless presents an original, unique vision. A departure from her 2021 mixtape To Hell with It, which is built around succinct, TikTok-ready songs and easily recognizable sonic quotations from various U.K. dance cuts, Heaven Knows is a full-throated pop album with an eye on contemporary trends.
“The Aisle” is as good a bellwether as any to determine if fans will take the leaps that PinkPantheress is asking of them. It’s more robust than anything we’ve heard from her before, with glossy disco inflections and drum work, and layer upon layer of jittering synths. The track’s invocation of disco and nod to 2Pac’s “California Love” are in service of mainstream pop consumption rather than a revivalist genre experiment. Its pastiche is certainly less “cool,” but PinkPantheress delivers it with a surprising ease.

Barbie’s cultural chokehold has reached the Recording Academy. Greta Gerwig’s summer blockbuster, which brought in over $100 million, was an ode to girlhood that understood the fundamental function music plays in our collective and individual existential crises. When Hollywood’s award season begins in a few weeks, Barbie is certain to be a frontrunner across categories and ceremonies — and its music has already drenched the 2024 Grammy Awards nominations in its unmistakable shade of pink with a grand total of 11 nods across seven categories.

Most PinkPantheress songs are over before they’ve had a chance to really begin, averaging around two minutes in length and forging a craving for more. But heading into her long-awaited debut album Heaven Knows, out Nov. 10, the singer and songwriter is lingering for a little while longer. The record’s latest single, “Capable of Love,” comes in at just under four minutes — and she makes every second count.

Noah Kahan has been having a great few months. The folk star has been rapidly rising in public awareness, starting with the release of his acclaimed breakout album, “Stick Season,” released a year ago. Now he has two charting hits on the Billboard Hot 100 simultaneously, multiple highbrow collaborations with previous Grammy nominees and winners and the acknowledgement of strong industry players, not to mention the album is still in the top 20 of the Billboard 200 albums chart. Clearly Kahan is doing something right, and people are taking notice. But among those fans of the breakout star, could there be Grammy voters ready to anoint him?
In many ways, Kahan could be considered Grammy bait. He is a folk singer, appealing to the big American roots contingent in the recording academy, but he should also appeal to a big audience of alternative and pop listeners. In that way, he’s similar to...

PinkPantheress follows the “Boy’s A Liar Pt. 2” remix with Ice Spice with another collab, this time with Destroy Lonely for “Turn Your Phone Off.”
The song narrates the story of an unwanted caller/ex-lover that PinkPantheress harbors mixed feelings about. “I turned my phone off but your calls still came through/I reply when they do ’cause I want to chat to you,” she sings in the high-speed chorus. “Then the next day we try again and again/I pick up when you call me so we won’t see the end.

In the opening of the Barbie trailer, Margot Robbie gets off to the ahem… right foot by stepping out of her heels with feet still arched in a now iconic scene. Naturally, TikTok has turned it into a viral challenge that has some podiatrists concerned about its dangers.
Folks participating in this particular trend have been attempting to recreate the scene by posing up on their toes and taking a few carefully balanced steps forward, with TV personality Chrissy Teigen even getting in on the fun (albeit on Instagram). Watch a few clips below.
Dr. Jodi R. Schoenhaus at Foot, Ankle & Leg Vein Center in Florida warns against the risk of injury while attempting the challenge over a prolonged period of time. “If someone attempts the pose once or twice, they will likely be ok and produce a great TikTok video,” she said in a statement. “However, if attempting the...

With the release of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie finally arriving at the end of this month, the whole world is gearing up for the thematic climax of “Barbie Summer” — the whole world except Vietnam, that is. That’s because the Southeast Asian nation has banned the release of the film, citing a bizarre, cartoonish world map as the reason.
Vietnamese officials are claiming that the film features a map which depicts the “nine-dash line,” a controversial set of lines that appear on maps to convey China’s territorial claims over the South China Sea. Vietnam also has claims over the region and has been disputing with China over the issue for decades, leading to a strong distaste of the “nine-dash line” in the minds of some Vietnamese.

The trailer for Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Barbie movie begins with Margot Robbie’s titular character quite literally stepping into the real world with her feet still arched from her high heels. As we now know, the actor filmed the shot with the assistance of a bar located off-camera, but only after Gerwig shut down an early pitch to use CGI.
“There was a big discussion in the beginning,” the Barbie writer and director explained during a recent appearance on the Australian TV show The Project (via Variety). “Everyone said, ‘Are you going to CGI all the feet?’ And I thought, ‘Oh god, no! That’s terrifying! That’s a nightmare.’ And [Margot] has the nicest feet. She has these beautiful dancer’s feet. She should just hang onto that bar and do it just like this.”

PinkPantheress has linked up with Bronx drill rapper Ice Spice to release another hit.
Ice Spice has been continuously hitting the charts with all her hot new singles using TikTok to supercharge her rise.
But what happens when two of TikTok’s most popular artists make a song together? It breaks the internet.
PinkPantheress is a British singer, songwriter and producer who went viral shortly after the pandemic started. She has produced popular songs like “Pain” and “Break it Off.”
After releasing “Boy’s Is A Liar” at the end of last year, she decided to make part two of the song featuring Ice Spice.
The song explores the notion that “men are trash,” a popular topic on TikTok with girls.
In an interview with NME, PinkPantheress talked about how this collaboration came to be. She said she saw Ice Spice follow her on Instagram, and after direct messaging her,...

Coming in hot. Skrillex has extended his recent streak of collaborative singles with his latest release, “Leave Me Like This,” which recruits Minnesota rapper and singer Bobby Raps to offer an earnest plea for more time.
“Into the shadow/Always break my light and/Please don’t leave me like this/Stay with me ’til the night ends,” the song’s guiding sentiment begs, recurring throughout its pulsing production.
A snippet from “Leave Me Like This” first appeared in a teaser trailer Skrillex shared on social media at the top of the year.

British R&b group Flo have been announced as winners of Radio 1’s BBC Sound of 2023 award.
The news comes just a few weeks after the three-piece were awarded the Brits Rising Star award, which makes them the first group in history to win both.
“Wow, we did it! To win this accolade not even a year after we released our debut single ‘Cardboard Box’ is wild,” the band said in a statement.
“We feel so connected to our British music roots winning the BBC Sound Of, and admire the artists who have come before us, especially our gal Pinkpantheress winning last year!
“Thank you to everyone who voted for us and put girl groups back on the map. To be recognised for our music and people to believe in our vision inspires us to go further this year! 2023 we’re ready!” they added.

She may be a relatively new artist, but Ice Spice is familiar with the grind. Growing up, her dad was an underground NYC rapper. She never went to see him perform, but she remembers tagging along as he hustled. “He was always distributing CDs,” she told Rolling Stone Radio host Jon Weigell. “I’d take the road trips with him to Rhode Island or wherever for a couple of hours. It was just us and it was fun. I remember sitting in the back of the car, and he’s...

PinkPantheress is obsessed. The U.K. songstress is the embodiment of clingy on her latest single, the Kaytranada-produced “Do You Miss Me?” In fact, she’s so consumed by her infatuation that she doesn’t even care if she has to share.
“I can’t let go of your hand/I can’t even breathe without you I don’t think you understand/I love to watch you as you speak/When you say the words I love you, tell me when you fall asleep,” she gushes in the opening verse.

PinkPantheress is talking about the time she produced a beat for a friend and tried to make it “as Kaytranada-inspired as possible.” It’s a sweet story, especially since the person she’s telling it to is Kaytranada himself.
“I want to hear it, I want to see how it turned out,” he responds.
PinkPantheress quickly shuts down the idea: “It’s fucking terrible.” Then they both break into laughter.
The two artists teamed up for the first time recently for a new track, due in November. This collaboration is fitting,...

The U.K.’s PinkPantheress broke onto the scene last January with “Pain,” a trendy, trailer-short song about rejection that feels as epic as a full-on teen melodrama. Though it’s an aural sad-face emoji, the viral sensation, with its playful, chantlike refrains is all about keeping your cool, which is likely why it resonated with the generation that thinks posting the wrong meme is a minor catastrophe. If the Zoomer pop world is Mean Girls, PinkPanthress is at the table with all the stoners and burnouts, fashioning whole hashtag-friendly...
