Imperfect Paradise, the award-winning weekly podcast from LAist Studios, today announced the first part of its 2024 story slate, kicking off with a story about a group of dancers working to unionize one North Hollywood strip club and the pitfalls they faced along the way. Hosted by Antonia Cereijido, other upcoming four-part stories will focus on topics including: the negotiations over the Colorado River water crisis; complex and often contradictory experiences with US-Mexican immigration; a major metropolitan area like Los Angeles’ relationship with deadly predators; and progressive district attorneys, like LA’s George Gascón, now facing re-election challenges.
Shana Naomi Krochmal, VP of Podcasting, LAist Studios commented, “After relaunching ‘Imperfect Paradise’ last year with a new format and weekly cadence, we have seen the show’s audience grow dramatically and received positive feedback from our listeners, the ones who matter the most. ‘Imperfect Paradise’ has established itself as an always-on, weekly flagship program for LAist Studios.

Scannell, the Nickelodeon vet who later ran BBC Worldwide North America and Mitú, will remain in the role until a new successor is named.
The Scpr board has started a search for Scannell’s replacement. “Herb has helped accomplish precisely what we hoped when he joined us four years ago,” Drew Murphy, chair of the Board of Trustees of Scpr, said in a statement. Some fans are only just discovering that Ben Affleck speaks fluent Spanish.
The Bostonian actor gave an interview with La Cadena Ser, Spain’s biggest radio network, on Monday (3 April) to promote his new movie, Air.
“La cosa importante a entender es que esta no es la historia de Michael Jordan, y también, Michael Jordan no se aparece en la película,” Affleck says in the interview, which, per Harpers Bazaar, translates to: “The important thing to understand is that this is not the story of Michael Jordan, and Michael Jordan doesn’t appear in the film.”
Clips from the interview have since gone viral on social media with surprised fans labelling him “Benito”.
“Affleck angling to be called Benito with the recent vacancy,” podcast producer Antonia Cereijido tweeted alongside a video.
“The switch from Ben to Benito,” another joked.
“Benjamín Affleck,” a third tweeted.
