Michael B. Jordan has gone from child star to teenage heartthrob to Hollywood heavyweight before our eyes. An immensely talented actor who had his breakthrough in 2013's "Fruitvale Station," Jordan is one of the most in-demand actors working today. A favorite among cinephiles, Jordan has been recognized by critics groups around the world; he also received a Screen Actors Guild Award for his turn as the unrelenting yet sympathetic villain Killmonger in "Black Panther," which he shared with the rest of the film's cast.
But Jordan does more than just act. He produced 2019's "Just Mercy," and he's set to make his directorial debut with 2023's "Creed III." In fact, his turn as Apollo Creed's son, Donnie, helped solidify him as a bonafide star — we can't wait to see what he does behind the camera. Before "Creed III" hits theaters, here are the 12 best Michael B. Jordan movies, ranked from worst to best.

"A Journal For Jordan" united two of the most prominent Black actors working today: Michael B. Jordan and Denzel Washington. Jordan stars in the film as First Sgt. Charles Monroe King, who writes the titular journal as a guide for his infant son Jordan. Washington directs and, in a career first, chooses to stay behind the camera rather than casting himself in a role. And while "A Journal for Jordan" itself was less than well-received critically, Jordan took more from the film than just warm memories; he also described the experience of working with Washington as a "master class" in acting and filmmaking.

Directed by Washington, this story based on a reporter’s memoir about her soldier husband and their son fails to find a compelling focus
Director Denzel Washington and his stars do their best with this bland, shallow and awkwardly structured film. It’s a romantic drama based on the bestselling 2008 memoir from publisher and former New York Times reporter Dana Canedy, about the journal that her soldier husband Charles Monroe King wrote for their infant son Jordan just before King’s death in Iraq – telling Jordan how to respect women, himself and his country.
Chanté Adams plays Canedy, a young New York journalist in the 90s who falls hard for Charles (Michael B Jordan): a sweet, idealistic guy in the US army who has no desire for her to abandon her career for him. So they are apart a lot when he is training, and then, tragically, seeing action in the Middle East.

In the midst of a busy Spider-Man: No Way Home week saw four new releases including A Journal For Jordan, Denzel Washington’s latest directed feature starring Michael B. Jordan as First Sergeant Charles Monroe King, a soldier deployed to Iraq who begins to keep a journal of love and advice for his infant son. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Dana Canedy. This was Denzel’s fourth feature film as a director, but unfortunately, A Journal for Jordan is his weakest effort as critics gave the film a middle-of-the-road score of 49% on rotten tomatoes.

Career military man Charles and Dana Canedy, an editor at the New York Times, who meet and unexpectedly fall in love, and the journal of fatherly advice the soldier leaves behind for his son. Bouncing between multiple timelines before, during, and after the US’s “War on Terror,” Denzel Washington’s A Journal for Jordan is a film that unfolds rather predictably, but is nevertheless impactful thanks to the charisma of leads Michael B. Jordan and Chante Adams. Like Clint Eastwood, Washington has again crafted another exploration of masculinity that could dismissed as “cry(ing) macho”––Jordan’s 1st Sergeant Charles Monroe King is just that, keenly aware of his duties, obligations, and that time may be running out. It must be reported that in the advanced preview screening I saw, with an audience of the general public, there was barely a dry eye in the house.
Straight forward and very sentimental, the film is at its core a love story between sophisticated New York Times reporter Dana Canedy (Adams) and 1st Sergeant King, a man who puts faith and country above all else.

Michael B. Jordan is aware of the fact that audiences will leave “A Journal for Jordan” talking about his booty.
There are a number of intimate and heartfelt moments in the Columbia Pictures romantic drama directed by Denzel Washington, which tells the true story of the late 1st Sgt. Charles Monroe King (Jordan) and his love, journalist-turned-publisher Dana Canedy (Chanté Adams). But in one particular love scene, the camera captures Jordan in the buff, with the frame just wide enough to show the actor’s butt.
It’s a brief (or lack thereof) moment, but if a woman’s ear-piercing scream in this reporter’s screening of the movie is any indication, there’s no way audiences will miss it.
When Variety asked the award-winning actor what reaction he expected when he first learned of the scene, Jordan chuckled as he searched for the appropriate words.
“I don’t think it was written like that,...
