- Jean Villard was born on June 2, 1895 in Montreux, Switzerland. He was a composer, known for The Devil All the Time (2020), Nine Boys, One Heart (1948) and The Sopranos (1999). He died on March 26, 1982 in Sain-Saphorin, Lavaux, Switzerland.
- Actor, he was a member of theater groups directed by Jacques Copeau. Using the stage name Gilles, he became later member of a duo called "Gilles et Julien" with Aman Maistre Julien. Becoming famous as a librettist and a composer, he directed cabarets in Paris and Lausanne where he continued to perform.
