The announcement of winners for the ASCAP Screen Music Awards, being held virtually again for 2022 and announced Monday morning, included revealing the top vote-getters for several Composers’ Choice Awards, including the scores for “Encanto” and “The White Lotus.”
Germaine Franco prevailed for film score of the year for “Encanto.” Cristobal Tapia de Veer won two of these peer-voted awards, for television score of the year and television theme as well, for “The White Lotus. The video game score of the year honor went to Wataru Hokoyama for “Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart.” Triumphing in the documentary score of the year category was Amanda Jones for “Dreamland: The Burning of Black Wall Street.”
Those five Composers’ Choice Awards come on top of ASCAP’s traditional Screen Music Awards, which collect date to honor the most-consumed music of the year in the fields of TV, film and video games, with dozens of winners cited.

If you're a male of a certain age, the idea of remaking "RoboCop" is very nearly unfathomable.
The movie was a deeply personal one that showed a lot of us what the possibilities of action filmmaking really were (along with "Die Hard," released a year later); at once totally of its time and utterly timeless. And yet, a remake is exactly what we're getting this week, with MGM and Sony's big-screen overhaul of "RoboCop."
This new story features some familiar elements, mostly having to do with a street smart Detroit cop (this time played by Swedish actor Joel Kinnaman from TV's "The Killing"), who is horribly injured in the line of duty but brought back to life (sort of) using cutting-edge technology. He might be mostly machine now, but the existential questions of humanity and the soul still remain, buried within his hardwired programming.

"RoboCop" is returning to the streets of Detroit, with a brand new suit of armor, but with the same directive: "Dead or alive, you're coming with me." And bringing this new version of "RoboCop" to the big screen is award-wnning Brazilian filmmaker José Padilha, making his Hollywood debut. It can be a challenge for many directors to make the leap into a blockbuster sized production, but to help get his vision of "RoboCop" across, Padilha called in the skills of a regular collaborator. Composer Pedro Bromfman is the man behind Padilha's critically acclaimed sensation "Elite Squad" and the smash hit followup, "Elite Squad: The Enemy Within," and he's reteamed with the filmmaker for "RoboCop." Below, we have two exclusive tracks from his work on the upcoming film, the propulsive "Mattox And Reporters" followed by the dynamic, "First Day." Bromfman is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music, recipient of...
