Who shined most ahead of the Top 20? Which contestant bowed out of the competition before the vote on Sunday? Let’s look back at the evening, shall we? Cadence Baker ABC/Karen Neal Cadence chose “Something’s Got a Hold on Me” by Etta James. Bebe felt there was a glass separating her from breaking through and showing 100 percent. She wanted more of a fearlessness. One of Bebe’s big tips was moving around the stage a bit more, which she took to heart.

Everything old is new again -- well, almost. On May 11th, CBS ordered the Magnum Pi TV show reboot to series. In addition to updating the famous private investigator's backstory -- he's now a retired Navy Seal and veteran of the Us conflict in Afghanistan -- the new production has made some cosmetic changes to this Magnum adaption. Along with original star Tom Selleck, gone is Magnum's mustache, as well as the comma between Magnum and P.I., in the show's title. At today's Upfront presentation to advertisers, reporters queried the network's president of entertainment, Kelly Kahl, about those decisions. Check out the answer, below. A CBS action-adventure crime drama, the new Magnum Pi stars Jay Hernandez, Perdita Weeks, Stephen Hill, and Zachary Knighton. Weeks, as pictured below, is playing Juliet Higgins, an updated, female version of...

Can we chalk this up to man's inhumanity to man? ABC has cancelled Marvel's Inhumans TV show after just one season. The sci-fi series, which had a disappointing launch in IMAX theatres in September of 2017, never really caught on -- at least in Nielsen households. The cancellation has been widely assumed to be all but confirmed for months. An ABC superhero drama, Marvel’s Inhumans stars Anson Mount, Iwan Rheon, Serinda Swan, Eme Ikwuakor, Isabelle Cornish, Ken Leung, Ellen Woglom, Sonya Balmores, and Mike Moh. Created by Scott Buck and based on the Marvel Comics by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Marvel’s Inhumans explores the Royal Family, led by Black Bolt (Mount), King of the Inhumans. After a coup separates them, they must reunite and try to save themselves and the earth. Read More…...

Chicago – Evil doesn’t take a break for Brenda Leigh Johnson to leave the Major Crimes Unit and Kyra Sedgwick to say goodbye to the show that turned her into one of the bigger TV stars of the last decade. TNT’s “The Closer” ends tonight, August 13, 2012 with a very strong series finale. Sure, the final moments feel a bit rushed (almost as if the producers didn’t want to linger too long on Sedgwick’s departure given the fact that they wanted you to stick around for “Major Crimes,” premiering immediately after it) but this episode satisfies so many of the marks on the checklist of what we want from a series finale. I can’t imagine fans being truly disappointed as they say an emotional goodbye to someone who felt like a friend.
Television Rating: 4.0/5.0

Terry O'Quinn as Gavin Doran in "666 Park Avenue" (ABC/Andrew Eccles)
ABC‘s slate of new shows for fall has a strange flavor to it, and it’s going to be a bumpy ride. The network has about as many new shows as returning ones (if you count all the midseasons), and a good percentage of the returning offerings are a year old or less, making this look a bit like a rebuilding year.
Not only is it a rebuilding year, but it’s the year of bringing back every actor and actress who ever had a decent run on a show before. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a network’s new season slate that was so crammed with people returning from something else. If you can’t make it good, I suppose, make sure viewers recognize the faces.
It’s tricky to get a solid feel...

ABC's Suburgatory is a show that, whatever else it may manage, is going to have a lot of critics talking. A lot of them are going to love it, and I suspect a lot of viewers will as well, but a lot of them are going to wonder what the hell anyone could see in it. Either way, this is not a show that is going to slip past without comment.
On the other hand, it's also a show that may be in too tricky a situation to survive, no matter how many people are mentioning it to you. It's on Wednesdays following another popular sitcom, The Middle, and there is even a sense in which the two shows are somewhat aligned in their social commentary. As helpful as that may be, the reality is that both shows are on against X-Factor and Survivor. Of course, they are also up against two other sitcoms,...

Chicago – The battle for summer cable dominance continues with another night of new programming on TNT as the very-popular “The Closer” and “Rizzoli & Isles” return for new seasons on Monday nights. With strong female leads and cleverly-devised mysteries, these are strong programs for what they are and they make a solid pair at the start of a long work week. They’re not going to change your life or be your favorite shows of the season, but they deliver what they promise.
TV Rating: 3.5/5.0
“The Closer”
Perhaps the intense, crowded slate of programming on TNT this summer (with 8 shows airing this season) is because the network knows they’re about to take some ratings and publicity damage when they lose their biggest hit (and one of the highest-rated programs in cable history). “The Closer” is coming to an end after seven strong seasons on the air that arguably peaked with...

It’s back, people! ABC’s Modern Family returns tomorrow night with an all new episode entitled “Boys Night.” Set your DVR for 9pm Eastern and remember, they like to sneak an extra minute onto the back end of the show – you don’t want to miss a moment of this one!
Here’s what I know. Jay ends up at the same bar where Mitchell and Cameron are having “boys’ night out” with all of their gay friends. They guys are an absolute hoot (Nathan Lane once again guest stars as friend, Pepper), and in spite of Mitchell’s trepidation at inviting him over to the table, he squeezes in and joins the crowd. The clip I saw has only the very beginning of the event, but the pictures sure make it look like the evening is a rousing success. That’s what I love about Jay, he can complain like crazy,...

Modern Family returns on March 23rd, with Nathan Lane bringing Pepper back for an evening with Cam and Mitch. Here's the synopsis for the episode "Boys' Night" :
"Phil and Claire have some trepidation when they find out that Luke has befriended their crotchety old neighbor, Mr. Kleezak; Jay's attempt to avoid sitting through a symphony concert with Gloria and Manny lands him in the middle of Mitchell and Cameron's 'boys' night out,' and Haley has her own adventures in babysitting with Lily."
Modern Family is at its best when the families interact with each other, and next week's episode seems to have plenty of that, with Jay and the boys, and more intriguingly, Haley and Lily! (All pics - ABC/Karen Neal)...

Castle fans are counting down the days for this season’s highly anticipated two-parter, scheduled to air on February 21st and 28th. “Setup” and “Countdown” will deal with a potential terrorist threat that will put New York City in danger of something extremely powerful and destructive. Heroes alum, Adrian Pasdar, guest stars as Homeland Security Agent Fallon, who comes onboard to help the NYPD deal with this particular case.
I have had a chance to watch a screener for the first part (“Setup”) and let me tell you, I could barely breathe through the entire 42 minutes. The audience is in for one extremely intense ride, I can tell you this much.
I feel like it’s becoming sort of a Castle thing to do this kind of special combo episode for February sweeps. Last season’s two-parter “Tick, Tick, Tick” and “Boom” was extremely successful and proved that this show...

Looks like ABC decided to give Castle fans yet another Christmas gift. They have recently released the first eleven minutes of their upcoming episode "Nikki Heat", scheduled to air on January 3rd at 10/9C.
Castle - "Nikki Heat" - Castle's novel "Heat Wave" is being turned into a movie, and the Hollywood hottie cast as the movie's lead shows up at Beckett's invitation to better understand the character she's going to play. Laura Prepon ("October Road," "That '70s Show") guest stars as actress Natalie Rhodes. As our threesome investigates the murder of a high-class matchmaker, Natalie goes to extremes in the name of "character research," transforming herself into the spitting image of Beckett -- much to Castle's delight and Beckett's dismay. Also in the episode, Melody Thomas Scott ("Young & the Restless") and Thomas Calabro ("Melrose Place") guest star, on "Castle," Monday, January 3 (10:01-11:00 p.m. Et). Naturally, a lot of shows are cranking out Halloween themed episodes this October – but you can count on Modern Family to produce the funniest, as evidenced by these pics from the upcoming episode “Halloween.”

Chicago – Courteney Cox returns tonight to try and overcome the perception that her very-clever and consistently-improving “Cougar Town” is not a success. What better way to make instant waves than to bring former co-star on “Friends” Jennifer Aniston to the party? The result is yet-another funny half-hour of television for a program that seems to get better by the week.
Television Rating: 4.0/5.0
Aniston is good on the season premiere of “Cougar Town” as Jules’ deeply-flawed (and probably insane) therapist and I’d be surprised if she doesn’t show up again, but what’s most-promising about the episode is the writing and ensemble work that will continue with the departure of the girl formerly known as Rachel. As for Aniston, I hate to be mean, but she’s simply more effective in smaller doses. As horrible as she’s been in junk like “The Bounty Hunter,” she has undeniable comic...

Question: I absolutely love The Closer! It's one of my favorite shows and I am always so eager to watch that I usually don't even wait for my DVR to get ahead enough to allow me to skip commercials. This season started off with a bang and I've loved it, but I'm a little concerned. What will happen if Brenda does become chief? On one hand, as a woman, I think it would be great for the character to be a female Chief of Police in Los Angeles. On the other hand, I am afraid for what that would mean for her position as a "closer." If she gets some distance from the cases, how can she possibly get all of those confessions that have the audience on the edge of their seats?...

Of all the attractive evils in the world perhaps none is more insidious than the desire to blame others for our own misfortunes. If history is any judge, scapegoating never loses its appeal and, especially in economic downturns, it can be extremely dangerous for those poor souls (or social groups) blamed for events over which they had no control. What's tragic about falsely assigning responsibility for disasters (like lost wars and financial collapse) is that pointing fingers and screaming does nothing to address the real problems. But gleaning what I can from cable news shows, determining who is to blame for a calamity is more important than getting out of one. Which is exactly where we find Assistant Chief Will Pope in The Closer's next episode, "Off the Hook" ...

Chicago – As my grandfather used to say, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Such is the formula of a hit show like “The Closer,” which returns tonight, July 12th, 2010 for its sixth season premiere. The characters may be coping with a new setting but it’s the same old show.
Television Rating: 3.5/5.0
Considering their press release touts the fact that “The Closer” is ad-supported cable’s #1 series of all time, can you blame the creators of “The Closer” for cutting the season premiere from the same cloth as what’s worked before? The plot of the season premiere is about changes in the life of Deputy Chief Brenda Lee Johnson but fans don’t need to worry about their favorite show feeling any different than it has before.

The Closer</i> | Photo Credits: Karen Neal/TNT" style="margin:0 5px 5px" />Garbage bags stuffed with bodies boasting neither heads nor hands, mysteriously missing human organs (perhaps black-market booty?) and a steel magnolia of an Lapd deputy chief lassoing in her increasingly short-tempered police squad — all this and more is going down in the swanky new Major Crimes Division murder-room set of TNT's The Closer on a sunny June afternoon in Los Angeles. Whew! It ain't pretty, but it sure is exciting.

Michael Trucco knows a thing or two about being "that guy" in a TV love triangle.
Castle's Stana Katic: Beckett's ready to tango with new love interest
Trucco's Samuel Anders came between romantic leads Kara "Starbuck" Thrace (Katee Sackhoff) and Lee "Apollo" Adama (Jamie Bamber) on Battlestar Galactica. Now on Castle, Trucco plays Detective Tom Demming, an increasingly powerful wedge between Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Detective Beckett (Stana Katic).
But Trucco tells TVGuide.com there's more to his role on Castle than creating another obstacle to a Castle-Beckett pairing. "It's an interesting plot device to enter in a third wheel — it always helps raise the stakes for all parties involved. But often, those characters can be one-dimensional," Trucco says. "What I like about Demming is he's actually a good guy. There's some sincerity in this character...

Monday's explosive Castle puts Detective Kate Beckett in serious danger, but is her biggest threat a visiting agent from the FBI?
Check out photos of the Castle cast
When a serial killer begins leaving notes at crime scenes for Nikki Heat — the fictional detective Castle (Nathan Fillion) based on Beckett (Stana Katic) in his new book — the FBI's Jordan Shaw (guest star Dana Delany) shows up in New York.
"She comes along and basically sweeps that case out of Beckett's hands," Katic tells TVGuide.com. "That's kind of strange for Beckett to deal with. She's used to being the one in charge of any case."
Shaw and her team show up with loads of technology, and the shiny new toys catch Castle's eye. Though Shaw initially dismisses Castle...
