- Johanna was born in the U.S. but raised in Spain, India, Japan and Venezuela. She began her TV/film career in Japan, doing both commercials and film and filling in for a regular cast member on the NHK TV program, "A Step to English." She earned her B.A. from Duke University in Comparative Area Studies and Anthropology and went on to study acting with the legendary Sanford Meisner in Los Angeles . In addition to her film and TV credits, Johanna received an L.A. Times Critics' Pick for her performance in the two-person play "Square One" at the Hudson Theatre as well as a Desert Theatre League acting award for her role as Catherine in "A View From the Bridge" at the Palm Springs Playhouse.
