Guitarist Nita Strauss married her longtime partner Josh Villalta on Saturday (May 4th) at the Hollywood Roosevelt hotel in Los Angeles, and rocked out at her own wedding reception alongside Alice Cooper and David Draiman.
Strauss wore a beautiful Maggie Sottero wedding gown, as seen in an exclusive pictorial for People, but that didn’t stop her from picking up her guitar and joining Cooper for a performance of the Beatles’ “Back in the U.S.S.R.,” as well as contributing vocals to Draiman’s performance of Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” (the Disturbed singer also sang Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” at the reception).

The groom, who plays drums in Strauss’ solo band, manned the kit during the performances, getting his chance to rock out, too. As for the couple’s first dance, it was to Extreme’s hit ballad ‘More Than Words.

Travis Kelce Gets “Down with the Sickness” at Super Bowl After-Party, Gets Invited to Disturbed Show
Social media clips of Travis Kelce partying after the Super Bowl in Las Vegas have been rampant, with the champion tight end cutting it up with girlfriend Taylor Swift and his fellow players in the aftermath of the Kansas City Chiefs’ overtime victory.
One in particular has been making the rounds in heavy metal circles, as it sees the football star getting down to Disturbed’s anthemic “Down with the Sickness” — and impressing the band’s singer David Draiman in the process.
The clip shows Kelce pumping up the crowd from the DJ booth as he appears to shout “Go baby!” during the “ooo ah ah ah” refrain while the metal banger blasts through the speakers.
Draiman re-shared a couple of the Kelce clips and extended an invite over X/Twitter, first writing, “Hey @tkelce, you’re welcome at one of our shows anytime,” and later remarking, “Well done @tkelce...

Disturbed and Heart singer Ann Wilson collaborated on “Don’t Tell Me” on the former’s 2022 studio album, Divisive. Now, with the tune climbing into the Top 15 at rock radio, a music video has been released for the track.
Disturbed frontman David Draiman said in a statement, “I have tremendous respect for Ann. In my humble opinion, she’s the greatest female rock voice of all time. I think she’s untouchable. I feel like we were very gifted to have her be a part of this.”
Wilson added, “I was honored when I got the call from David Draiman. Disturbed did a version of [Simon & Garfunkel’s] ‘The Sound of Silence’ that my husband and I both really dug. And so, when the opportunity came to sing a duet with him on a song that meant so much to David emotionally, I jumped at the chance. And then the video turned out great,...

David Draiman went public with his new girlfriend Sarah Uli on Wednesday (January 10th). When it comes to dating apps, it appears that the Disturbed singer had a lot more success with Bumble than he did with Tinder.
The metal frontman posted a photo of himself with Uli on social media, writing, “My lady.” Uli is an American swimsuit model who appears as Miss January in Playboy Australia‘s 2024 calendar.
When a fan asked on X (formerly Twitter) if Draiman met Uli on Tinder, the rocker responded, “We met on @bumble actually.”
Another person criticized the “need” for Draiman to put his new relationship “out there for public consumption,” to which Draiman replied, “For one simple reason. To make sure everyone knows and respects boundaries. That’s it.”
In the spring of last year, Draiman was getting back in the dating game following a divorce from his wife of 11 years.

David Draiman’s new puppy Charlotte went missing from the Disturbed frontman’s Florida home a couple days ago, with the singer reaching out to the public for support. Thankfully, the rocker was reunited with the 10-week golden retriever on Monday (October 2nd).
The rock frontman’s Instagram page has been the source for wholesome puppy content ever since he took in the golden retriever just three weeks ago. At that time, he posted the first pics of Charlotte, writing, “Say hello to the newest member of the Draiman family…Charlotte!!”
Over the weekend, he plead for her return, offering a reward for any information leading to her whereabouts. His post read as follows:
“It is with an incredibly heavy heart that I have to announce that our dear puppy, Charlotte has been missing since the morning before last. We think she was taken by someone/something when she was playing out in the yard.

Disturbed brought fire and unexpected rain with them to their show at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion outside of Houston, Texas, on Thursday night (July 27th). A pyro display during the set-closing “Inside the Fire” set off the venue’s emergency sprinkler system, pouring water all over the stage and the band.
“Well, last night in Houston was a first,” tweeted frontman David Draiman the next day. “Our pyro set off the fire suppression system onstage at the end of the set for a surprise rain shower onstage lol.” The band itself tweeted, “Houston, we have a problem! Thank you for enduring the Fire and Water with us! We are Disturbed!”
Guitarist Dan Donegan offered more details via Instagram, revealing that some of the band’s equipment was ruined:

Disturbed frontman David Draiman sang Israel’s nation anthem “Hatikvah” during the band’s show in Tel Aviv on Wednesday night (June 28th). The rock singer has long been a staunch supporter of the country and has often spoken out against antisemitism.
Draiman, who is Jewish, performed “Hatikvah” toward the end of the set, with the crowd enthusiastically singing along. The vocalist actually trained to be a cantor (a singer at a synagogue) when he was younger, and that experience was evident in his performance. In fact, his grandfather was a cantor in Israel.
It’s not the first time Draiman sang the national anthem in Israel. Back in 2019, he did the same during Disturbed’s first-ever show in the country.
In recent years, Draiman has blasted Roger Waters, calling the Pink Floyd legend “a very sick man” and a “piece of shit” for his cultural boycott of Israel and seemingly antisemitic actions.

Disturbed singer David Draiman revealed on Tuesday (May 30th) that he had a tumor removed from his arm last week. On Wednesday (May 31st), he happpily reported, “It’s benign! Thank God!”

The radius is a bone in the forearm. According to medical websites, most tumors in that location are benign, but a small percentage of them are malignant.
The next day, he followed up on Twitter with the update, “It’s Benign!!!! Thank God!!!! I may be performing with a sling for a while… but...

The Darkness singer Justin Hawkins is often outspoken on his podcast, “Justin Hawkins Rides Again,” and now he’s taken aim at Red Hot Chili Peppers’ John Frusciante, calling his guitar playing “shit” and comparing it to child-like paintings.
Hawkins’ remarks came from a recent episode of his podcast entitled “How Not to Write a Song,” in which he and guest Pat Finnerty (of the YouTube series What Makes This Song Stink) proceeded to lay into Frusciante as part of a lengthy two-hour conversation.
“My issue with Red Hot Chili Peppers is that I get nothing from John Frusciante’s guitar playing,” Hawkins said, addressing the negative comments he receives from Rhcp fans whenever he discusses the band on his podcast. “I feel like if we can call Mark Knopfler [of Dire Straits] an underrated player, I would describe John Frusciante as an overrated player. In fact, I have done that, more than once.

Disturbed vocalist David Draiman is feeling thankful. In a new social media post, he expressed gratitude for the “outpouring of support” he has received after courageously revealing at a concert in Milwaukee that he recently almost lost his own life to mental health struggles.

Every single band member on this stage has dealt with those feelings, with those demons. And I miss the friends that we’ve lost. I miss Chester [Bennington], I miss Scott [Weiland], I miss Chris [Cornell].”
He added, “And if I can be completely honest with you, a couple months ago, I almost joined them. Addiction and depression can happen to anyone ladies and gentlemen.”

The new lord mayor of Portsmouth in the UK took an unconventional approach to his inauguration ceremony, using the Metallica song “Eye of the Beholder” as his walk-in music.
It was certainly a scene at the Portsmouth Guildhall on Tuesday (May 16th) when Lord Mayor Tom Coles walked to the podium with the …And Justice for All track blaring. The contrast of the ceremony’s pomp and circumstance with the rather brutal thrash number is sketch-comedy levels of absurd.
Coles’ eccentricities didn’t stop there. During his speech, the new lord mayor recited a passage in the Star Trek language Klingon, garnering smiles from his colleagues. As for his motivations for the playing the metal song and speaking Klingon, Coles simply told the BBC that he went “with what he liked”.
“It went down well with the audience, I had a really good feedback,” he said, adding that he was “a big heavy metal fan.

Nita Strauss, who recently rejoined Alice Cooper’s band as lead guitarist, has announced a new solo album. The set, titled The Call of the Void, will drop on July 7th via Sumerian Records.
Strauss explained of the album’s new title in a press release, “Have you ever been at the top of a high building and had the fleeting thought, ‘I could jump right now?’ This feeling is sometimes called ‘The Call of the Void,’ also known as ‘high place phenomenon.’ It’s not a suicidal impulse, rather the exact opposite — a subconscious decision to live your life, to step back from the ledge, and take control. As researcher April Smith aptly put it: ‘An urge to jump affirms the urge to live.'”

Disturbed singer David Draiman made an impassioned and personal speech onstage during a recent show in Milwaukee, telling the audience that he recently almost lost his life to “addiction and depression.”
While referencing the Disturbed song “A Reason to Fight,” an emotional Draiman mentioned how he missed his late friends like Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington, Stone Temple Pilots’ Scott Weiland, and Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell,” while adding that a couple months ago he “almost joined them.”
He told the crowd the following:
“A reason to fight — we all need one. The demons that are known as addiction and depression are very, very real. They are diseases no different than cancer. You can’t see depression. You can’t see addiction. It festers inside. It metastasizes, takes over your body and mind, your soul. And I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of losing everybody I love to depression and addiction.

Disturbed singer David Draiman revealed last week that he was using Tinder following his recent divorce from Lena Yada. Apparently, the metal frontman was no fan of the dating app, promptly deleting it and calling it an “absolute shitshow.”
On Friday (May 5th), a fan attempted to warn Draiman of a fake Tinder account, tweeting, “Lol dude you see this?! Mila Kunis, Debra Messing and other entertainment industry figures are among those who have sent an open letter to Amazon and Barnes & Noble, asking that the controversial book and documentary Hebrews to Negroes: Wake up Black America be removed from their platforms.
The nonprofit organization Creative Community for Peace was behind the letter, claiming both Amazon and B&n allegedly “refused to remove the title and continue to profit from its bigotry.”
Kunis, Messing, Jeopardy! host Mayim Bialik and songwriter Diane Warren were among 200 signatories to the letter. It was addressed to “Jeff Bezos, James Daunt, and the leaders at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.”
The protest comes in the wake of NBA star Kyrie Irving promoting the film with a tweet, then refusing to give an adequate apology. He was then suspended by the Brooklyn Nets and was ordered by the Brooklyn Nets to meet with various groups to make things right.

This is pretty wah-ah-ah-acky! Move over Ryan Adams, because musician and man of a million voices Anthony Vincent has released the most rockin' version of Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood," feat. Kendrick Lamar. In an edited video posted on his YouTube page this week, Vincent sings the pop song in a studio as a heavy metal track, emulating the distinctive, raspy vocals of Disturbed singer David Draiman. He also performs electric guitar and bass guitar. Coincidentally, Vincent also paid tribute to Katy Perry, the rumored subject of "Bad Blood," in a 2014 re-imagining of her song "Dark Horse," which he sings in 20...

On August 21 2015, after some four years of being on hiatus, Disturbed released their sixth studio album, ‘Immortalized’. With such outstanding song as ‘The Vengeful One’, ‘What Are You Waiting For’, and the title track itself, the band proved that nothing – not even being away for such a long time – can change the legendary sound that made them famous.
Simply put, they’re back.
One of the most iconic metal bands ever, Disturbed have enjoyed considerable success ever since they first started working under that name in 1999. The Chicago-born band is easily one of the most recognisable in the entire metal genre, and from vocalist David Draiman’s unique voice and semi-improvised ‘monkey noise’ sound effects, to guitarist Dan Donegan’s incredible guitar-playing abilities, they’ve enjoyed a much-deserved cultural popularity.

When David Draiman first barked out the now-infamous “Oh-wa-a-a-ah” ‘monkey noise’ (as it’s called), you can be damn sure he didn’t expect it to shape one of the most successful hard rock and heavy metal bands on the planet.
Thankfully, an entire generation of 90s kids were putting their feelers out, ready and waiting for some of the most sonically-satisfying and downright badass riffs to come their way. So when a passionately driven and perfectly accessible Disturbed arrived with more landmark material in their first album than others do across entire careers, it was all they could ask for.
Chances are you still remember the first time you came across the band, whether that be 2000’s phenomenal The Sickness album, as Stone Cold Steve Austin’s theme song in the now-renamed WWE – or through any of their four number one albums that positively demolished the Billboard 200 chart,...

Welcome to the March 31, 2015 edition of Outrage Watch, HitFix's (almost) daily rundown of all the things folks are peeved about in entertainment. Today's top story: the Trevor Noah backlash has already begun. The just-announced new "Daily Show" host is already stirring controversy with a number of past tweets (some of them nearly five years old) that many have deemed anti-Semitic and/or sexist. The offending tweets include jokes about Israel ("South Africans know how to recycle like Israel knows how to be peaceful"), Jewish women ("[Argentinean soccer star Lionel] Messi doesn't go down easy, just like Jewish chicks") and women in general ("'Oh yeah the weekend. People are gonna get drunk & think that I'm sexy!' - fat chicks everywhere"). Among those outraged is the always-outspoken Roseanne Barr, who tweeted the following on Monday evening (it has since been deleted from her page): Even Roseanne mad! Rt @therealroseanne @Trevornoah U should cease sexist...

After Trivium blew onto the post-Nu Metal scene in 2005, they helped define the metalcore genre. While Bullet For My Valentine, Avenged Sevenfold etc, have since faded into a husk of what they once were, Trivium are still testing what the barriers of metalcore actually are and have produced an outstanding body of work that can be seen, in many ways, as the coming of age for the band. Trivium have pushed past the barrier they established with their sophomore release, Ascendancy.
After they kick-started somewhat of a metal renaissance, it then became somewhat fashionable to bash Trivium and these other bands based on their “one bad album”, The Crusade. And sadly, this continues in small pockets today. It took another two other releases to win their fans back, myself included, and 2011′s In Waves was a statement that Trivium had returned to form.

Super Collider is Megadeth’s fourteenth studio album and the first to be released on Dave Mustaine’s new label, Tradecraft. This is not the album that fans were expecting from the current generation of the band, and as such it has already drawn a fair amount of fire and hate from many with statements such as those from this Metal Sucks review:
“Super Collider is undoubtedly the worst Megadeth album since 2001′s The World Needs a Hero, and it is very possibly as bad as 1999′s infamous Risk…This isn’t metal — it’s muzak, an album populated predominantly by old man rock…”
Reviews such as this one are dismissive, plain and simple. Born from this line of thinking: “I dislike either the person, or the band, so this is instantly bad.” My advice, look out for a “MegaDave” reference,...

A member of the paparazzi is dead after attempting to take photos of Justin Bieber's Ferrari in Los Angeles on New Year's Day.
According to early initial reports, Bieber wasn't in the vehicle at the time when the incident took place on Sepulveda Boulevard. The photographer was crossing the road after snapping photos of the parked car when he was hit. He died in hospital on Tuesday evening but no name has been released. Los Angeles police officer James Stoughton said no charges are expected to be filed against the driver who hit the photographer.
TMZ reports a friend of Bieber — who TMZ reported this morning to be rapper Lil Twist — was driving while another friend was in the passenger seat when California Highway Patrol pulled the vehicle over for speeding on the 405 freeway. Sources told TMZ that as police conducted the traffic stop the photographer began crossing the road to take photos.

So word just dropped this week that Anthony Mackie is in talks to become the Falcon in the Captain America sequel, Captain America: The Winter Soldier. After more than a decade together and some 13 million albums sold, Chicago heavy hitters Disturbed are preparing for an "indefinite hiatus," according to frontman David Draiman.
Draiman announced the news on his Twitter account, in response to a fan's question about rumors that the band was breaking up. And while he admitted that he has no idea what Disturbed's long-term plans are, their immediate future is pretty clear: "We haven't said that were breaking up. We simply do not know yet," Draiman wrote. "All I can say is we are going on an indefinite hiatus."
He added that he "can't really get into the reasons" why Disturbed were planning on taking a break, and wrote, simply, "Let's just say it's time.

It wasn't easy for any of them. Much like the Sweet 16, voting in the Elite 8 broke records and went down to the wire. When MTV tipped off our Musical March Madness tournament three weeks ago, 64 bands stood on the precipice of greatness ... though, to be honest, one of them seemed to face a tougher challenge than all the rest. Chicago shredders Disturbed, who were stuck with a #9 seed, were pitted against the heavily favored Dave Matthews Band in the opening round and basically left for dead.
But Disturbed refused to die. They knocked off Dmb in convincing fashion, then, in one of the tournament's most eye-opening victories, ripped #1 seed Foo Fighters to reach the Sweet 16. That win served notice to the rest of the Mmm bands that Disturbed were a force to be reckoned with, and they backed up that newfound clout with a thorough throttling of Patrick Stump to reach...

We've reached the Elite 8 of MTV's Musical March Madness tournament, and it's a fitting title, indeed. Because the eight bands left standing in the tournament are most certainly elite, each having survived increasingly tough challenges to stand on the precipice of championship glory.
Check out our Mmm Bracket right here!
And nowhere was that more apparent than in the Mmm's Sweet 16, which saw not only a historic number of votes being cast by fans, but more nail-bitingly close contests than we can ever remember: Fifth-seeded Paramore came from way back to nip #1 Linkin Park; #5 Panic! at the Disco edged heavily-favored (and top-seeded) 30 Seconds to Mars; and, in perhaps the most remarkable matchup in Mmm history, defending champs Coheed and Cambria snuck by...

Two weeks ago, when we tipped off the 2011 Musical March Madness tournament, sixty-four bands entered the fray with championship dreams on their minds. For 32 of those bands, that dream died after one round. And for half of the remaining 32, the dream is over today.
Because we've reached the Sweet 16, the midway point on the quest for the 2011 Mmm title. And while the bands still left standing would no doubt like a moment to recover from their epic battles, as any tournament vet will tell you, there's no rest for the weary. From here on out, the challenges only get tougher, and the cost of defeat is high: To come so close and leave empty-handed would be a heartbreaker, indeed.

The band's frontman, David Draiman, recently discussed his Jewish heritage conflicting with some anti-semetic fans in the metal music community and recounts the time when he changed a skinhead's view on life. "I'm incredibly defiant against neo-Nazis and skinheads. I've always been very proud of my heritage and where I come from, and I've defended it to the extent of being bloodied on many occasions. In fact, most of the fights I've been in my life — and there have been many — have been because I was defending my family or my faith. And I don't apologize for it," said Draiman. The singer went on to reveal that the song "Never Again" from the band's latest album 'Asylum' is about Holocaust and the people that denounce it as being fake. One of those people is the outspoken Ahmadinejad, a...

Heavy rockers Disturbed have scrapped their upcoming U.S. tour so frontman David Draiman can undergo treatment for a serious throat condition. The illness is not thought to be permanent, but Draiman has been told he must stop performing for at least four weeks in order for him to fully heal, according to the Boston Globe.
It is not known if Draiman's condition is linked to his past problems - in 2006 he underwent successful surgery to fix a deviated septum which was making breathing difficult and affecting his vocals.
Disturbed was formed on October 24, 1995 in Chicago, Illinois. They have released five studio albums with their last record "Asylum" hitting the shelves in August this year.
