Saerla Krolikov was born in Athens, Ohio. She graduated from Montwood High School in 1997, and later attended Texas Tech University - where she studied Acting (Meisner), Creative Writing and Film Studies, and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art in 2009. She is a single mother of five children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, and resides in Los Angeles, California with her family where she is currently working on several screenplays and a creative film manifesto called "The Rabbit Blood Manifesto".
Identifying as Genderqueer, they often use "queer" as a personal descriptor and are comfortable with both "she" and "they" pronouns without preference.
She has a rare eye coloration called Sectoral Heterochromia that occurs in only 1% of the general population. Her eyes are blue with heavy yellow inclusions, and her left eye is half amber colored.
Their first job was in 1997 as a waitress for The Comic Strip in El Paso, Texas.
