The erratic Leprechaun franchise is not known for sticking with a single concept for too long. The namesake (originally played by Warwick Davis) has gone to L.A., Las Vegas, space, and the ‘hood (not once but twice). And after an eleven-year holiday since the Davis era ended, the character received a drastic makeover in a now-unmentionable reboot. The critical failure of said film would have implied it was time to pack away the green top hat and shillelagh, and say goodbye to the nefarious imp. Instead, the Leprechaun series tried its luck again.
The general consensus for the Leprechaun films was never positive, and the darker yet blander Leprechaun: Origins certainly did not sway opinions. Just because the 2014 installment took itself seriously did not mean viewers would. After all, creator Mark Jones conceived a gruesome horror-comedy back in the early nineties, and that format is what was expected of any future ventures.

Back in 1983, legendary producer Roger Corman brought the world a sword and sorcery film with an awesome title: Deathstalker. It was so successful, it paved the way for three sequels: Deathstalker II: Duel of the Titans (1987), Deathstalker and the Warriors from Hell (1988), and Deathstalker IV: Match of the Titans (1991). The franchise has been dormant for over thirty years… but it won’t be for much longer. A press release reveals that filmmaker Steven Kostanski – whose previous credits include Manborg, Father’s Day, The Void, Leprechaun Returns, Psycho Goreman, and episodes of the short-lived Day of the Dead TV series – is set to write and direct a Deathstalker remake, with Daniel Bernhardt (John Wick) on board to play the title character!
“A newly reimagined installment of the cult sword and sorcery series of the same name,” the Deathstalker remake will see Bernhardt taking on the role of a barbarian who finds...

Stars: Jonah Ray, Ryan Kattner, Kiran Deol, Randee Heller, Alex Winter, Jon Daly, Thomas Lennon, Kumail Nanjiani | Written by Mike Benner, Jared Logan, Charles A. Pieper | Directed by Josh Forbes
Revolving around two things many of us know all too well, neighbours from hell and writer’s block, Destroy All Neighbors is an over-the-top exercise in splatstick from director Josh Forbes and writers Mike Benner, Jared Logan and Charles A. Pieper.
William Brown makes his living as a sound engineer at Industrial Sound & Magic, helping to bring other people’s music to life. Currently, it’s the obnoxious Caleb Bang Jansen, “Emerson, Lake and Palmer? It sounds like Emerson getting buttfucked by Lake and Palmer.”
But when it comes to his own Prog Rock album, he’s stuck in a rut. While his girlfriend Emily believes in him, everyone else around him seems to exist only to stifle his efforts.

Manborg. Father’s Day. The Void. Leprechaun Returns. Psycho Goreman. There’s been a throwback element to all of the feature films we’ve gotten from director Steven Kostanski so far, and his next feature will be no different. Variety has confirmed that production has wrapped on Kostanski’s horror comedy Frankie Freako, which is said to be a “commemoration of various practical FX-led projects including Gremlins 2: The New Batch and Ghoulies Go to College“. Well, if you say your movie pays tribute to Gremlins 2 and Ghoulies 3, you’ve already sold me on it.
Shout! Studio holds the U.S. distribution rights to Frankie Freako, but release plans have not yet been announced.
The story follows Conor Sweeney (The Editor) as he accidentally unleashes a trio of tiny trouble-makers into his home, led by the maniacal rock-n-roll party monster Frankie Freako. It’s a race against time as...

Plot: An all-time rager of a teen house party turns to terror when aliens attack, forcing two warring siblings to band together to survive the night.
Review: Kids vs Aliens is schlock through and through. This shouldn’t come as a surprise since it comes from tJason Eisener, who brought us Hobo With A Shotgun but, even still, it can be a little oftputting. As such, there’s a ton of stuff that I could go after with this movie. The unevenness in tone from moment to moment, the insane story progressions are easy annoyances in any other movie. But I went in expecting grindhouse and that’s what I got. But is this on the same level as the similarly themed Psycho Goreman? Well…
