Jack Black’s Kung Fu Panda 4 has done a decent job of impressing the critics as a standalone film, but it might be the weakest entry in the franchise. Despite the franchise’s immense popularity, the declining trend in the appeal of the films was clearly visible in the box office number of the last outing. However, the upcoming movie is expected to make the highest profits among the four films due to its low production budget.
Jack Black’s Po & Awkwafina’s Zhen in Kung Fu Panda 4
Kung Fu Panda 4 arrives as a major competitor to Dune: Part Two which is making big waves at the box office. While the lower rating compared to other films has brought some negative press for the film, it is expected to collect $45-50 million in its opening weekend.

In any other medium, a list of the year’s best offerings that was close to predominantly filled with sequels, spin-offs, and spiritual successors might sound warnings of an industry’s creative bankruptcy. Our list of the 25 best video games of 2023, though, signals just the opposite, with developers pushing familiar properties in exciting new directions.
Each and every one of the games below came as a surprise to us in one sense or another. Among those are a trippier-than-ever platformer that seeks to reconnect us to a wonderfully childlike sense of wonder; a self-referential horror sequel that uses tech innovations to rewrite its own rules as it goes; a role-playing game with writing so rich that we can’t wait to make more “bad” decisions; and a remake that feels like a genuine reimagining, driven by a need to retell a story as opposed to a way to cash in on nostalgia.

On the surface, 2023 feels like a backslide. At the very least, a rather sizable number of the year’s best gaming experiences either look or act like early-to-mid-2000s ones. What’s magical about the year so far, though, is how many of those experiences are winning examples of unfinished business being taken care of. Indeed, many of the titles on our list of the best games of the year so far prove that developers set out to perfect some old, untapped ideas, putting in careful, meticulous work to make them shine their brightest.
So, if the aughts are back with a vengeance, we aren’t complaining. Of course, the year in gaming has also made room for the new and powerful, and we’ve been thrown a few stellar curveballs. That is, developers are taking wild swings that could only ever have been possible at this particular period in time,...

Steve Bannon was found guilty on Friday on charges of contempt of Congress related to his refusal to comply with a subpoena from the Jan. 6 committee. Bannon is the first Trumpworld figure to be held accountable in court for their refusal to cooperate with the panel’s investigation. The jury returned the verdict in less than three hours — including lunch.
Bannon was charged in November with two counts of contempt of Congress for refusing to honor the subpoena. He’s been found guilty of both of them, with each potentially...
