A cuckoo bird is known for laying her eggs in other birds’ nests and letting the host raise her babies instead. Quite similar to a cuckoo bird, Sian, a middle-aged woman, invades the house of a couple, believing their children to be her own, in this British thriller. et in County Cumbria, The Cuckoo tells the story of a family of three who have recently moved to the countryside from London after the husband, Nick Hayes, loses his job and is caught cheating with someone else. His wife, Jessica, has given him a second chance, but since then, their marriage has been falling apart. Their teenage daughter, Alice, has become distant following their move to this rural region from the big city. Facing a significant money crunch, the Hayes decide to rent out one of their spare rooms to possible tenants for a bit of income. That is when they come across Sian.

Amusing, uplifting, and about as sugary and teeth-sabotaging as caramelized popcorn, The Beautiful Game celebrates the healing power of team sports for those who might feel pushed to society’s margins by misfortune or choice. Although prefaced with the vague assurance that it’s based on true stories, this comedy-drama by eminent British screenwriter Frank Cottrell-Boyce (The Railway Man) and directed by Thea Sharrock (Wicked Little Letters) is a tidily assembled, happy-ending-hewing narrative package that revolves mostly around the fortunes of a half dozen unhoused men, competing for England in the Homeless World Cup.

This article contains spoilers for A Murder at the End of the World episode 7.
The marketing material for FX‘s A Murder at the End of the World describes it as “a mystery series with a new kind of detective at the helm.” That detective is lead character Darby Hart (Emma Corin) and she is indeed a new kind of sleuth. Darby is the consummate Gen-z investigator. She is obsessed with true crime, has elite hacking skills, and likes skinny Midwestern boys with tattoos.
But focusing on all the ways in which Darby is different from your typical detective can distract from the ways in which she’s the same. Namely: she’s really good at this stuff – like Sherlock Holmes-level good. After people start dying at the retreat hosting by reclusive tech billionaire Andy Ronson (Clive Owen), there’s really no question for the audience as to whether...

The sixth episode of the FX miniseries A Murder at the End of the World was a little shorter in its runtime as compared to the rest, but it didn’t exactly feel as if it rushed by. It took its sweet time to unfold the story, and the tediousness of the plot really began to show in the latest episode. The show’s foundation is our interest in finding Bill’s killer, who then went on a spree, perhaps resulting in the deaths of Rohan and Sian, but when the tower becomes so high, one risks forgetting about the foundation. In the previous episode, Darby confronted Andy, the tech wizard, and accused him of killing Bill, but he managed to give a lengthy explanation, which made Darby question herself. The same ‘I don’t trust you’ line was now received by Lee in this episode, and she told Darby...

Emma Corrin as Darby Hart in ‘A Murder at the End of the World’ episode 5 (Photo Cr: Chris Saunders/FX)
We’re getting down to the wire with FX’s limited series A Murder at the End of the World. Going into episode five, the big question was whether it would leave viewers with more questions than answers as to who the killer could possibly be. And by the end of episode five of the seven-episode season, it felt as though we did move a little closer to learning the murderer’s identity – even as the mysterious killer claimed another victim.
Episode four ended with Darby (Emma Corrin) realizing Zoomer (Kellan Tetlow) could be Bill’s son and not Andy’s. Episode five, “Crypt,” begins with her giving Zoomer a hug. We’re then taken back to when she and Bill (Harris Dickinson) were on their murder mystery road trip.

We’re halfway through FX’s limited series A Murder at the End of the World and the death toll is now up to two. After Rohan’s death at the end of episode three, episode four opens with everyone being moved underground per Andy’s orders.
As the guests begin to speculate on what could have happened, Martin (Jermaine Fowler) wants to know what Darby (Emma Corrin) thinks. Darby believes Rohan had a heart attack but thinks that because he had a pacemaker, it’s possible the software to it could be hacked. Lee (Brit Marling) asks the head of security’s wife, Eva, if they have a home monitoring system there. Eva confirms they do indeed have one, but it was taken from the medical suite today.

In the stunning fourth episode of the series A Murder at the End of the World, Darby Hart, the amateur sleuth, goes through a series of events that ultimately lead her to discover something truly shocking. Rohan was dead, and the rest of the guests were seriously in danger. Andy put everybody in a safe space, but who was to say they were truly safe? The stormy weather meant that the police were going to take at least 72 hours to arrive, and the guests couldn’t leave on their planes. They were stuck, and so was Darby. Rohan’s death was definitely connected with Bill’s murder, and Darby found a partner in Sian in this episode. The episode hinged on a big reveal at the end that left us with a lot of questions, but even prior to the ending, the storytelling managed to build a terrific suspense that...
