In “Capone,” Tom Hardy, as the aging, broken-down, not-all-there Al Capone, acts under a corpse-gray mask of desiccated-mobster makeup, and he speaks in a bullfrog croak so raspy it sounds like he’s only got one or two vocal cords left, and that they’ve been burnt to a crisp. It’s 1946, and Capone’s days as the legendary underworld kingpin of Chicago are long gone; so are the eleven years he spent in prison for tax evasion. He’s now 47, a retired gangster, comfortable but ailing, teetering towards death as he drifts through the days at his creamy mansion in Palm Island, Florida, surrounded by federal agents who are watching his every move.
Written and directed by Josh Trank, “Capone” is a portrait of the mobster as a burnt-out husk. Hardy’s Capone, who everyone calls Fonz (for Alphonse — the use of “Al” is strictly verboten), is blotchy and pasty,...

Sure, they can be happy and make you laugh, but would they do the same in the middle of the night while trying to rip your head off? Terrifier poses this question in an old school gory bluntness that bashes you in just the right spots.

The third season of Castle premieres on Monday, September 20. We previously posted promo photos for this episode and now we have four sneak peeks from ABC to share with you below.
Nathan Fillion And Stana Katic Return For Season Three Of “Castle”
When the new season of “Castle” begins, Beckett hasn’t heard from Castle since he left for the Hamptons months ago to finish writing his second Nikki Heat novel, “Naked Heat” (on sale September 28). The most Beckett, Ryan and Esposito have seen of Castle is a bookstore standee of him advertising an upcoming book signing. So when Beckett and her team burst into a shadowy apartment on the trail of a murderer, the last thing they expect to see is the real-life Castle standing over a dead woman’s body holding a gun! As Castle protests his innocence, Beckett has no choice but to arrest him on suspicion of murder,...

Robert Siegel could have made a documentary using me for Big Fan. I suspect it would have been cheaper to follow me around for an entire football season and watch me dedicate my entire life to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Much like Patton Oswalt’s Paul, I spend my entire week thinking about the next game with the excitement of a win, or the disappointment of a loss racking my mind all week. In addition, my Terrible Towel follows me everywhere, every day of the season and that includes non-game days. Safely, not safety, I can say I got a nice kick out of Siegel’s film as he crafts what it’s like to be a die-hard fan of a sports team. From one fan to another, he hit the nail right on the head.
Before the meat of the story is discussed, the focus will be on how Siegel crafted this story.

Big Fan Written and Directed by: Robert Siegel Starring: Patton Oswalt, Kevin Corrigan, Michael Rapaport, Marcia Jean Kurtz, Jonathan Hamm When Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler started to gain a lot of attention last year, people were pretty shocked to find out that the man who came up with the story and the screenplay was none other than Robert Siegel, former editor of the satirical newspaper and website, The Onion. How someone could go from peddling fake news to weaving such a dark, heartbreaking tale of redemption is beyond me, but if nothing else, Siegel certainly proved his versatility as a writer. Then he decided to take it a step further, and find out if he could not only write a script, but also direct it as well. Following on the success of The Wrestler, Siegel managed to pull together a fairly low budget independent production for his directorial debut,...

Two new clips from Big Fan, the drama starring comedian Patton Oswalt that premiered earlier in the year at Sundance, have been released online. Kevin Corrigan, Michael Rapaport, Marcia Jean Kurtz, Gino Cafarelli, Matt Servitto and Polly Humphreys also star in the film, which opens in limited release August 28. The directorial debut of Robert D. Siegel, screenwriter of Darren Aronofsky’s The Wrestler, Big Fan centers on a hardcore New York Giants football fan (Oswalt) who struggles to deal with the consequences when he is beaten up by his favorite player.

“Big Fan” is like “The Wrestler”, only it’s about football and Patton Oswalt isn’t Mickey Rourke. Other than that, they should probably have called this movie “The Wrestler 2: The Football Fan Guy”, because it has the exact same tone and vibe as that other film, which writer/director Robert D. Siegel also wrote. With “Big Fan”, Siegel is making his directorial debut, and oh boy is it a doozy. This movie will either depress the hell out of you or make you glad you kinda like football, but not that much. But hey, there is a bright side to all this: if it had been Plaxico Burrows, Oswalt’s character might have gotten shot instead of just beaten up. Paul Aufiero, a hardcore New York Giants football fan, struggles to deal with the consequences when he is beaten up by his favorite player. Starring Patton Oswalt, Kevin Corrigan,...
