“You know, I’m just gonna say what I thought,” Howie declared when it was his turn to speak. “I think you’re one of the best singers we have heard on this show. But tonight, I thought that was way off. I found that way off.” As the crowd reacted negatively to Howie’s comments, he continued on, “Rather than hitting the notes, you were hitting volume, and you stayed in one little plane and it was just loud. [Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for America’s Got Talent Season 17 Episode 17, “Semi Finals 1 Results.”] Two more acts have been chosen to join Avery Dixon, Chapel Hart, Drake Milligan, Nicolas Ribs, Sara James, and Yu Hojin in the America’s Got Talent Season 17 finale following the August 31 live results show on NBC, but it might not be who fans expected. A shocking elimination was delivered last night in an episode that proved the competition is getting fierce. Acapop!, Bayley Graham, Harper, Jack Williams, Jannick Hoste, The Lazy Generation, Lee Collinson, Lily Meola, Merissa Beddows, Metaphysic, and Mike E. Winfield took to the AGT stage on Tuesday, August 30 for their last chance to impress the live crowd and voters at home. Winfield especially impressed judge Howie Mandel with his standup set. At the end, Mandel told the comedian that should he be eliminated the following night, he can open for Mandel’s upcoming show on September 9. But Mandel had a ...

Last week, Gold Derby conducted a poll asking “America’s Got Talent” viewers to let us know what they thought of the new format change, in which more contestants than ever are being eliminated each week. The fans did not hold back. A whopping 60 voted in our poll results that they disliked the new rule because “we are losing way too many talented acts.” To compare, 35 approved of the change because “it forces each act to bring their A-game.” The remaining 5 were non-committal and had to “think about it more.”
In the past, “America’s Got Talent” would produce three separate live show rounds: Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Grand Finale. Now, there are only two rounds: Qualifiers and Grand Finale. [Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for America’s Got Talent Season 17 Episode 15, “Qualifiers 3 Results.”] Nine more acts reached the end of the road on America’s Got Talent Season 17 on August 24. Only two of the 11 total performances from the August 23 live shows could advance to join saxophonist Avery Dixon, country music trio Chapel Hart, rocker Drake Milligan, and magician Yu Hojin in the next round. And the majority of these performers from Season 17 Episode 3 were singers. Singer Amanda Mammana, ventriloquist Celia Muñoz, the trickster Cline Twins, TikTok dancer duo Funkanometry, comedian Hayden Kristal, uncle-niece singing duo JoJo and Bri, singer/instrumentalist Mia Morris, electric light dance group Mplusplus, magician Nicolas Ribs, singer Sara James, and kids pop group Xomg Pop! were all up for elimination. Before they learned their fate, the episode delivered appearances from Season 14 winner Kodi Lee, plus Teddy Swims and Neal Schon. On August 23, the third group of returning qualifiers performed for America’s vote in Episode 15 of “America’s Got Talent.” Only two acts will advance from the qualifiers to the Season 17 finals. So who was the best of the night? And who was not ready for primetime?
Terry Crews resumed his hosting duties and Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, and Sofía Vergara once again made up the judges panel. As in the past, this year’s champion will take home a 1 million cash prize and be able to showcase their talent as a headlining act in Las Vegas. See our rankings for Tuesday night below.
Season 17 Episode 15 rankings:
11. Mia Morris: I love a good show of musicality and the ability to play multiple instruments but this was a major downgrade from the audition. The whole performance was decent at best. The second half stood out as being stronger than the first.

Last week “America’s Got Talent” season 17 advanced to the second stage of the competition, known as “Qualifiers.” In this second round, 55 acts are divided into five groups for five weeks of performances, all in the hopes of advancing to The Finals. While series judges Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel are still around to offer their support and critique of the acts, the power is out of their hands and rests all America’s vote. Only two acts from each of the five qualifying groups will win over America and earn a spot in the “AGT” finale.

Who’s performing tonight on “America’s Got Talent“? The Season 17 live shows continue August 16 on NBC with the Qualifiers 2 group. This lineup notably includes cosplay singer Freckled Zelda, whose powerful voice surprised the judges during her audition, and Mr. Pants, a stand-up comedian dressed as a common pair of trousers. Remember, this year the live shows have gotten a major facelift. Gone are the days of Quarter-Finals followed by Semi-Finals. Instead, there will only be five Qualifiers rounds, with two out of 11 acts advancing from each group — yes, that means nine acts will go home each week.
