From the creator of Clock Tower comes the horror point-and-click adventure, NightCry. Here's the first gameplay footage...
In early January, we saw the first teaser trailer for NightCry, the spiritual successor to the Clock Tower horror game series. Although heavy on atmospherics and monsters, the teaser showed us nothing of the game itself - something rectified in the first gameplay trailer.
The footage arrives as NightCry launches its Kickstarter campaign, with developer Playism Games is looking for $300,000 to get a more visually detailed version of the game ported across to PC.
With Clock Tower creator Hifumi Kouno at the helm and movie director Takashi Shimizu (The Grudge) on board as a collaborator, NightCry has a sterling pedigree. A point-and-click adventure set on a luxury liner, it's a deadly game of hide and seek: an indestructible creature wielding a pair of scissors is slaughtering the ship's inhabitants, and you - cast...

A spiritual successor to the Clock Tower horror game series, NightCry has a new teaser trailer directed by The Grudge's Takashi Shimizu...
Something horrible crawling out of a well. A bloodshot, staring eye. Hideous monsters apparently made from shadows and strands of burnt hair.
It's only 30 seconds long, but the teaser trailer for the forthcoming NightCry is a veritable compendium of Japanese horror staples - though that may be partly because it was directed by Takashi Shimizu, the filmmaker behind Ju-on: The Grudge.
Being live action, the trailer tells us relatively little about the game itself. NightCry is from the mind of Hifumi Kouno, and it's described as a spiritual successor to his own Clock Tower - the 1995 survival horror game that sent a shudder down players' spines with its multiple endings and atmosphere of creeping dread.
