“Black Mirror” is art imitating life, but what happens when art imitates that?
In a surreal feedback loop of pop culture, London’s Barbican Centre will open a major new exhibition, Into the Unknown: a Journey Through Science Fiction, that will feature the “Black Mirror” episode “Fifty Million Merits,” reports the UK’s Standard. The episode itself was a commentary on today’s obsession with exercise, living our life through screens, the gamification of tasks and the interest in achieving reality show stardom.

"I suppose we have to register you as a Hot Shot!" Doesn.t have the same ring to it at all, now, does it? And yet, the infamous line spoken by Danny Glover to his new partner, Mel Gibson, almost had to go down this way because studio executives didn.t appreciate the title Lethal Weapon. They wanted to go with something a little more generic. Something all audiences could tolerate. They told writer Shane Black that they preferred the title Hot Shots. I wish I was joking. Shane Black made this admission while on the promotional rounds for his latest crime comedy The Nice Guys (which is a must-see movie, in our opinion). He was speaking with the guys on the Nerdist podcast, and talking about how studio executives at the time didn.t like that the hero of Black.s Lethal Weapon screenplay was suicidal. This, of course,...

NCIS‘ new male recruit is a short-fused rabble-rouser whose ego is as big as his biceps.
Oh, and he’s a dad, too.
As TVLine first reported back in January, just two weeks before Michael Weatherly’s end-of-season exit was announced, the CBS juggernaut is adding two new series regulars in Season 14. We already filled you in on the female FBI agent, Tess, that’s currently being cast. And now we have the details on the new male hire — and he sounds like quite the handful.

Juan José Campanella, the Argentine director behind 2009’s ace crime thriller The Secret In Their Eyes, is back with, well, something a little different. The Unbeatables is a family animation that, as you can probably tell from this new clip, is almost entirely bereft of murders and government repression. What it does have is the Weinstein seal of approval, a colossal haul from the Argentinian box office and a character who looks a lot like World Cup tragi-hero and part-time Hair Bear, David Luiz. Click below to take a look. The Unbeatables tells the tale of a gifted kid called Amadeo (voiced by Rupert Grint), who often keeps his talents hidden (again: see David Luiz) and has suffered previously at the hands of his nemesis, Flash. His goal is to face down the terrifyingly skilled and intimidating player with the help of the football team he’s assembled. The synopsis...

Don’t Torture A Duckling is one of the most intricately woven, original giallo films ever made, and definitely one of my favorite Italian giallo films of all time. Numerous interviews credit Don’t Torture A Duckling (1972) as Lucio Fulci’s personal favorite, and it firmly established him as a major talent in the suspense genre in Italy. Don’t Torture A Duckling never saw a theatrical release in North America in the 1970s, and the film wasn’t released on VHS until 1999 when it was released in both VHS and DVD format by Anchor Bay Entertainment. Even though the time of VHS had come and gone by 1999, Anchor Bay released the film on VHS to appease horror video fans like myself. Blue Underground released the same version of the film again in 2007, but only on DVD and Blu-Ray. Currently, you can buy Don’t Torture A Duckling on VHS...

Did you know the coin-op classic Gauntlet only came about because one of the game's creators, Ed Logg, was being bugged by his son, a D&D fan, to make a game set in that universe? During a postmortem of the first four-player arcade game at this year's Gdc, Logg, a designer on Gauntlet, talked about building the game that was once upon a time simply called "Dungeon," and designing a concept around a problem—in this case, the struggling arcade industry of the mid-80's.
So here's what the arcade business was like back in 1985, according to Logg: on average, arcade owners would take in a quarter for every 90-180 seconds of play, and they'd effectively reached a ceiling in how much money they were able to bring in from their games. And while the idea of 50 cent games was on the table, it seemed like everyone on all...
