Forty years after putting down the Power Station broom and picking up the microphone, Jon Bon Jovi is in an introspective mood.
The man who co-wrote iconic songs including “Livin’ on a Prayer” and “Keep the Faith” is preparing for the release of Hulu’s four-part docuseries Thank You, Goodnight, directed by Gotham Chopra.
Initially planned as a career retrospective around the band’s 40th anniversary – Bon Jovi’s eponymous album was released on January 21, 1984 – the series added another element to the story, that of its lead singer’s health issues that have raised question marks about the band’s future.
Thank You, Goodnight, which premieres April 26, highlights the highs and lows of being in a band, the drugs and the difficulties of remaining successful and wanting to evolve but not wanting to alienate its audience, in addition to its leader’s health issues. It’s not a “VH1 puff piece,...

The Goo Goo Dolls have been around for what seems like forever, six years before I was born to be exact! And yet, in their 27 year run without hiatus, they have gathered 14 top ten singles, sold over 10 million albums, and had their hit-song “Iris” top Billboard’s Top 100 songs of 1992-2012. In other words, this band has the credentials to scare any Belieber away.
With the release of “Magnetic” on June 11 (their tenth studio album) the Goo Goo Dolls are back, and in many ways better than they have been for quite some time. While not a massive change from the tried-and-tested formula of soft pop rock, Johnny Rzeznik and co. have produced a catchy, meaningful and emotionally upbeat record. The band chose to work with three different producers, Gregg Wattenberg, John Shanks and Greg Wells in order to get a very unique sound for each track.

DeWyze exclaimed in a release “Putting out an album on a major label is truly a dream come true. I’m excited for all the people who supported me throughout Idol to hear what I can do with my own songs. The album shows a whole different side of me and I’m so proud of it.”
“Live It Up” will also be the album’s title track and the first record to drop. DeWyze worked with such collaborators as Toby Gad, John Shanks and Espionage in fusing a mélange of rootsy pop, folk and rock. DeWyze recorded the album while on the American Idols Live Tour this summer.
The singer, 24, cut his teeth on the Chicago club scene prior to his “Idol” audition.

Tuesday night (July 13) represents a huge moment in the history of MTV programming and reality television in general. After six seasons, "The Hills" is coming to a close with a two-hour grand-finale event, beginning at 8 p.m. on MTV. It has been a watershed program, as it first established the sort of hyper-real aesthetic that many reality shows (and a handful of fictional dramas) copied. But "The Hills" and its predecessor, "Laguna Beach," also left their mark in the music world.
Each of the shows had theme songs that helped spark massive career moves for the artists behind them. The theme song to "Laguna Beach" was Hilary Duff's "Come Clean," co-written by Kara DioGuardi and John Shanks. Though it originally appeared on Duff's 2003 album,...

Miley Cyrus is set to release her third studio album as Miley Cyrus (she also has a few "Hannah Montana" soundtracks under her studded belt, as well as last year's "Time of Our Lives" Ep), and along with the title track "Can't Be Tamed," the album also includes songs like "Scars" and a cover of Poison's "Every Rose Has Its Thorn."

A list of songs which possibly make the cut to Miley Cyrus' new studio album "Can't Be Tamed" have been revealed. The tracklisting is unveiled via MileyCyrusPhillipines which claimed they got it from McA Music, the Philippine distributor of Hollywood Records.
A cover version of Poison's "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" is among the 12 songs included in the list. Bret Michaels, the former member of Poison, plays the guitar on the hook, while John Shanks contributes behind production desk.
"Bret and I had a great time in the studio together just hanging out and making music," Miley said back in December 2009. "It was so surreal to have him sit down with his acoustic guitar and walk me through Every Rose and then give me the opportunity to add my own flare and edge to it. Like Joe, Murs was signed by Simon Cowell’s record label Syco and in an interview with Irish TV show Xposé, Walsh discussed the future of both singers.

A brand new single called "Nothing to Lose" performed by Bret Michaels has made its way out. In this track, the Poison's lead vocalist teams up with his junior Miley Cyrus, singing the chorus together.
"Yeah, she does when she falls down on me / So close I can feel you breathe," part of the verses they sing together read. "Tonight in the darkness theres nothing to lose / If the truth is all we can see / If I fall for you, could you fall for me."

Miley Cyrus had done a re-recording session for Poison's single "Every Rose Has Its Thorn", but it doesn't mean that the teen sensation is going to duet with one particular member of the glam metal band. Bringing up the news was frontman Bret Michaels, who mentioned that he will not sing together with the ex-girlfriend of Nick Jonas in the song.
"Well, I'll do some harmonies and stuff like that, but it's gotta be her version," he said in a recent interview with MTV News. "I think that's what's going to make the song feel like she owns it. She's got a very contemporary twist to it ... it has to be what she feels and [producer] John Shanks feels what's playing on contemporary radio."
During the interview, 46-year-old Bret also noted that Miley had "nailed the song" because "she really knew she was doing". He elaborated, "She got in there and picked the guitar up.
