Tyler Posey’s run as Beacon Hills resident in Teen Wolf came to an end in 2017, but it’s hard to forget the actor’s all too lovable role as Scott McCall. The character still lives on in the hearts of diehard fans and fan-fiction. The recent Teen Wolf: The Movie, released in 2023, is a living proof of the show’s success and relevance even today. Besides Posey’s fan-favorite role as McCall, he’s also well known for other projects such as Truth Or Dare, Jane The Virgin, The Last Summer, Alone, and his voice acting role in Fast & Furious Spy Racers.

The first trailer for Thelma, the June Squibb-starring comedy about a grandma going John Wick on senior scammers, has arrived.
Thelma follows Squibb as 93-year-old Thelma Post, who is duped out of $10,000 by phone scammers pretending to be her grandson (Fred Hechinger). After the police say they can’t help her, she enlists the help of her friend Ben (Richard Roundtree), and sets out for revenge. Filling out the cast will be Parker Posey, Clark Gregg, Malcolm McDowell, and more.
The film is due in theaters on June 21st, released via Magnolia Pictures. Watch the trailer below.
Thelma first premiered this past January at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival. In her review, Consequence’s Liz Shannon Miller praised the film’s mixture of comedy and genuine depth of feeling, calling it a “love letter to grandmas.”
This is just the latest project for a still-quite-active Squibb, who appeared in Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead...

Batman Beyond is one of the DC properties that is rife with live-action potential and would slot in perfectly in James Gunn’s new Dcu. In the year of our Lord Cthulhu 2024, it's abundantly clear what the general aims of the Blumhouse production company are: to make a variety of mid- to low-budget genre features that contain any sort of hook which will make a return on their investment. The 21st century's version of old exploitation companies like Empire International Pictures and New World Pictures, Blumhouse occasionally produces a breakout prestige genre film, but more often than not they're making, y'know, "Night Swim."
Not that that's a bad thing, mind you. Jason Blum and company know that horror fans love a balanced diet, happily taking their veggies along with their french fries. One of the most "french fry" movies Blumhouse ever made was 2018's "Truth or Dare," a film in which the most famous high school party game turns deadly once a supernatural element forces the players to either participate or forfeit their lives.

A sequel to 2018’s Truth Or Dare would have brought its cast back in novel fashion, only for the pandemic to lead to its cancellation.
Nb: The following contains spoilers for 2018’s Truth Or Dare.
Released in 2018, Truth Or Dare was far from the most acclaimed film to emerge from the Blumhouse horror stable, but it was still a huge hit comparative to its budget.
As a result, director Jeff Wadlow and his surprisingly large roster of co-writers began to think about a sequel. The problem was, most of the cast from the original film had already died at the hands of the vaguely Ikea-sounding demon, Calux.
Their solution? Borrow a post-modern move from Wes Craven’s New Nightmare, and make a pull back-and-reveal movie about Truth Or Dare's cast encountering Calux in the ‘real’ world.
Speaking to Variety, Jeff Wadow talked about the planned sequel – which may...

The 2018 Blumhouse chiller “Truth or Dare” was a profitable hit for the company, making over $95 million worldwide on a $3.5 million budget. The film — about a demon named Calux that is activated by the titular party game — starred a buzzy cast full of young talent, including “Teen Wolf” lead Tyler Posey, “Pretty Little Liars” star Lucy Hale, Violett Beane, Landon Liboiron and Sam Lerner, who all bonded offscreen during filming. That camaraderie led to a sequel idea that could have been one of Blumhouse’s most innovative movies.
While talking about his upcoming film “Imaginary,” Jeff Wadlow, who directed “Truth or Dare” and co-wrote it with Michael Reisz, Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach, revealed the ambitious plans for a sequel that almost started production during quarantine.
“We actually wrote a ‘Truth or Dare’ sequel,” he said. “In the first one, there’s about nine characters and seven of them die. I...

Playing a long-married couple in Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Parker Posey and Wagner Moura are twinned forces of nature. They’re weird, they’re obnoxious, they’re so cheerful they’re borderline terrifying, and so obviously wild about each other they’re almost endearing. Whenever they’re onscreen, the entire show seems to sit up and hold its breath, eagerly aware that anything might happen in their presence.
Alas, they’re also guest stars. The couple actually at the center of the Prime Video comedy are the rather more sedate John (Donald Glover) and Jane (Maya Erskine). Mr. & Mrs. Smith has its delights, with a plot that sends the duo on glamorous top-secret missions to one picturesque location after another. But it’s all built on the wobbly foundation of a romance that’s more interesting in theory than in practice.

Plot: When a ninety-four-year-old grandmother is ripped off by phone scammers for $10k, she goes on a mission to get her money back.
Review: Watching Thelma is a bittersweet experience. While led by the always delightful June Squibb, the film co-stars the late Richard Roundtree in his meatiest role in years. Between this and the recent Jane Fonda movie Moving On, Roundtree was on the verge of the comeback that long-eluded him, only for him to die suddenly at 81 in the fall. It’s a shame because the former Shaft star is a delight in this low-key caper flick.
It offers a long overdue leading role to the great June Squibb. At ninety-four, the actress has been in high demand in recent years, seemingly still sharp as a tack. In Thelma, she plays the title role, being a doting Grandmother pushing back at the notion that she’s too old to live independently.

For this month’s installment of “TV Terrors” we revisit USA Network’s “Frankenstein,” which was produced by Lions Gate Films and originally aired on October 10, 2004.
After “The X-Files” (originally) came to an end, other genre properties popped up in an effort to fill the hole it left behind. One of them was the USA Network’s “Frankenstein.”
This TV movie wasn’t so much about Frankenstein as it was an attempt at a murky cop procedural that so happens to involve undead monsters and mutants lurking in Louisiana.
From executive producer Martin Scorsese, “Frankenstein” originally aired as a means of setting the stage for an elaborate horror thriller with a monster-of-the-week approach, following two cynical detectives on the hunt for the mythical mad doctor.
Engineered by famed author Dean Koontz, the movie was a twist on the Mary Shelly story for a more contemporary setting that, at the very least,...

At the beginning of Thelma––a loveable, low-stakes joyride from director Josh Margolin––the movie’s eponymous 93-year-old grandmother sits on the couch with her grandson Daniel and marvels at Tom Cruise. They’re watching a recent Mission: Impossible sequel on her tiny television and can’t fathom Cruise’s running and jumping daredevil-ism at his weathered age. Thelma may live alone, need hearing aids, play solitaire, have trouble typing out an email, and get flustered when pop-up ads surprise her online. But much like America’s most extreme action star, she knows she’s still got it, too.
Thelma is played by June Squibb and it’s clear she’s having a ball leading her first movie. Since making a name for herself with an Oscar nomination in Alexander Payne’s Nebraska, the nonagenarian has spent the last decade flexing her comedic chops in small roles and cameos, eating...

“We’re not what we were.” “There is no good death.” “You want to see what’s going to happen to the ones you love.” Writer/director Josh Margolin squeezes surprisingly funny freshness from the musty themes of aging, death, and lost autonomy in his poignantly written “Thelma,” a seriocomic “Mission Impossible” remix that casts June Squibb as the titular action hero in a slow-moving but still quietly epic revenge flick about elder fraud.
The debut filmmaker’s tribute to his extraordinary grandmother (the story supposedly recounts an actual experience of hers and features a clip of the real Thelma during the credits) almost sounds like the premise of a raunchy Melissa McCarthy romp or gender-swapped “Bad Grandpa” riff. One afternoon, 93-year-old Thelma (June Squibb) receives a harried call from her beloved grandson, Danny (Fred Hechinger), saying he's in jail and desperately needs help. Thelma can tell his voice sounds slightly off, but when she asks him about it, he says the accident that landed him in jail resulted in a broken nose, accounting for the difference in his voice. Danny tells her a defense attorney will be calling her momentarily to make arrangements to get him out, and when the other man calls Thelma, he tells her she needs to mail $10,000 in cash to an address across town in order to get Danny out as quickly as possible. Thelma calls her daughter (Parker Posey) and son-in-law (Clark Gregg), Danny's parents, but neither answers. So, dutifully, she gathers the cash and mails it to the address — only to soon discover that Danny is actually fine. Thelma's been scammed.

If you're anything like us, you can still hear the sound -- that sickening ping that marked the end of Jennifer Coolidge's tenure as the best part of The White Lotus.
Sorry for opening with a spoiler, but hey -- it's been over a year!
In case you managed to successfully block the incident from your memory, Coolidge's lovably ditzy Tanya McQuoid-Hunt dispatched a crew of gangsters who had it out for her -- but then she fatally conked her head while escaping from the yacht where she'd been held captive.
It was arguably the saddest exit from a show that's given us a couple of them so far.
But on the upside, now there's room for a whole new slate of guests to enjoy a stay at our favorite chain of fictitious luxury resorts!
And based on this week's casting announcement, it sounds like we're in for another round of Emmy-worthy performances.

Spoiler Alert! Do not read this if you don’t want to know the identity of The Hawk, the latest contestant to be sent home from The Masked Singer on Fox.
The Hawk is already raring to return to The Masked Singer stage.
The actor and musician’s time on the Fox series was a bit short-lived, as he was booted from competition after just two solo performances and one smackdown against Tiki. Ultimately, his journey came to an end on Wednesday despite rousing the audience with his rendition of “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic” for Harry Potter night and putting his all into his verse of Lady Gaga’s “Monster.”
“I had a great experience,” The Hawk told Deadline. “I was a little sad when I got voted off, because I am very competitive. But once I once I let that go, I was like ‘I had so much fun.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Masked Singer Season 10 Episode 6 “Harry Potter Night.”] Hawk managed to get past the Smackdown in his first appearance of The Masked Singer Season 10, but not the second time. They lost out to Tiki in his second Smackdown, to “Monster” by Lady Gaga, but none of the panelists were able to figure out who was in the costume (despite a few clues hinting at Teen Wolf). And so it was a surprise to them when he unmasked and revealed himself to be actor and musician Tyler Posey. Below, Posey opens up about his time on the show. You were very entertaining. Tyler Posey: I felt the same way. I was like, “What? You’re going to vote me off?” Honestly, I was a little bummed out, just for a little bit, because I’m very competitive and I gave it my all and I wanted to go further. Is your...

Warning: Spoilers Ahead For Harry Potter Night On “The Masked Singer”
Ten seasons in, “The Masked Singer” is well-known for its incredible costumes, bringing some of the most random objects to life in beautiful ways. But really, the singer behind the Hawk mask didn’t care what costume he got — in fact, he admits that he would’ve said yes to competing even if his costume was quite literally “a giant pile of poop.”
At the end of Harry Potter night on Wednesday, during which Hawk was aptly — or perhaps maybe a little on the nose-ly — sorted into Ravenclaw, the singer underneath the mask was revealed to actually be “Teen Wolf” star Tyler Posey. And, while Posey admitted to TheWrap that he really did want to win it all, he was just happy to be asked to participate.

This Post Contains spoilers for this week’s episode of Fox’s The Masked Singer.
Tyler Posey is used to the unusual. He got slapped by Gigi Hadid in Lip Sync Battle. A cast member in a wolf costume drooled K-y jelly into his mouth. And most recently, the Teen Wolf star performed as a hawk in gladiator gear on The Masked Singer.
After a Harry-Potter-themed night featuring spell-bound songs, Posey was unmasked during the sixth episode after performing a punk rock rendition of Lady Gaga’s “Monster” against masked contestant Tiki.

Warning: Spoilers Ahead For Harry Potter Night Of “The Masked Singer”
Wednesday night marked the end of yet another competitor’s journey on “The Masked Singer” — a lone wolf, if you will. Or rather, a teen wolf.
The singing competition celebrated spooky season with a Harry Potter-themed episode this week, marking the return of Hawk after he beat Royal Hen — later revealed to be Billie Jean King — in a Battle Royale last week. This time around, he performed “Every Little Thing She Does is Magic” by The Police.
Following his performance, Hawk was sorted into Ravenclaw by the sorting hat, and the judges guessed it might be Ryan Phillippe, Andrew Garfield or Billie Joe Armstrong under the mask. In the end though, they were all incorrect.
Because, in the end, Hawk was unmasked to be… “Teen Wolf” star Tyler Posey.
Posey just released a new album called “Unraveled” earlier this year,...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched Season 10, Episode 6 of “The Masked Singer,” “Harry Potter Night,” which aired Oct. 25 on Fox.
The timing couldn’t have been better: With Halloween approaching, it was a spooky “Harry Potter”-themed episode of “The Masked Singer” this week, so it was only appropriate that “Teen Wolf” star Tyler Posey would be the next celebrity to be unmasked in Season 10.
Posey was revealed to be Hawk, after this week performing “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic,” by The Police. “I have this checklist of random weird things that you only get to experience once in a lifetime,” Posey told Variety. “And this fit right in with that. This is just a fun, interesting, random, bizarre experience that I was just completely down to do. It’s also challenging. I’ve always been sort of awkward when it comes to choreographed dancing.

We spy a solution for Spectrum cable customers who just last week saw Fxx abruptly vanish from their channel guide, and don’t want to miss Archer‘s very final episodes.
On Sept. 11, Charter Communications and The Walt Disney Company reached a new agreement that ended an 18-channel “outage” for Spectrum cable customers. But as part of that deal, a “more curated” package of Disney networks was restored for Spectrum customers — and it doesn’t include Fxx, Freeform, Disney Junior, Disney Xd, Fxm, Baby TV, Nat Geo Wild or Nat Geo Mundo.

The MTV series Teen Wolf – which was loosely inspired by the 1985 comedy film Teen Wolf (watch our Awfully Good video on that movie Here) – wrapped up its six season run back in 2017, and back in January it got a feature film follow-up on the Paramount+ streaming service. (Read our review of Teen Wolf: The Movie at This Link.) Now Paramount+ is hoping that movie is going to rack up multiple Primetime Emmy Awards nominations.
Variety reports that the streaming service has submitted Teen Wolf: The Movie for Emmys consideration in the following categories: Outstanding Television Movie, Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie (Tyler Posey), Directing (Russell Mulcahy), Writing, Prosthetic Makeup and Original Music and Lyrics (“Lemon” by Tyler Posey).
Since Posey was also a producer on the film, Variety notes that these submissions give him three chances to earn an Emmy nod.

Parker Posey knows the pitfalls of being an indie darling.
The “Party Girl” breakout star recalled being pigeonholed as an indie actress early in her career, leading her to lose mainstream roles to Sandra Bullock and Julia Roberts, among other stars. Posey told Vogue that she auditioned for “Speed” before the part went to Bullock, and shared even being told by her agent that she was “too indie.”

Parker Posey didn’t lose sleep over her “Sleepless in Seattle” role being cut from the final film.

Ari Aster has quickly become a favorite of mine. The filmmaker has crafted three excellent and terribly fascinating features Hereditary, Midsommar, and Beau is Afraid. His latest is a strange and beautiful concoction of mommy issues gone wrong. It’s a delicious black comedy, it’s a little horrific, and it’s weird Af. Yes, weird is a great description – seriously, check out Chris Bumbray’s own take Here. And, of course, Joker Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix is utterly stellar here. This incredible cast includes the great Patti LuPone, Zoe-Lister Jones, Armen Nahapetian, and more. It’s very likely you’ve never watched a flick quite like this.
I recently had a terrific conversation with a few of the cast members behind this strange tale. Amy Ryan and Nathan Lane, who are both terrific here, add a wonderful element to the storyline they inhabit. The two opened up about working with Mr.

We never expected to see characters like Kirby Reed and Billy Loomis make their return to the Scream franchise, but both Scream 2022 and Scream VI have proven that nothing is ever off the table when it comes to this particular slasher saga. Billy appeared in both films in visions experienced by his daughter, while Scream VI literally brought Kirby back to life.
So who’s next? Well, Drew Barrymore recently joked that Casey Becker could theoretically still be alive out there somewhere, and now Parker Posey is expressing similar sentiments about her character from Scream 3. As Jenn Adams wrote here on Bloody Disgusting back in March, “The flaky actress stars as Gale Weathers in the parody films and forms a hilarious partnership with her real-life counterpart when her co-stars begin to die.

“It’s funny. I’ve never thought of it this way, but I’m pretty sure a C-section is comparable to what happened to her,” Barrymore said during “The Drew Barrymore Show” (via Entertainment Weekly). “Like, literally. And I’m here! I’m fine! So, maybe Casey Becker will be Ok.”
The “50 First Dates” actress teased, “With good writing, you can make anything happen… I’m so glad that this franchise is still such a viable commodity.”
“Scream VI” brought back a presumed-dead character with Hayden Panettiere’s Kirby not only having survived the “Scream 4” stabbing but now thriving as an FBI agent.

“This is my nightmare.”
That’s how filmmaker Ari Aster kicked off his interview with The Hollywood Reporter on Monday night while standing on the red carpet ahead of the L.A. premiere of his latest film, Beau Is Afraid. It was in reference to the obligation of doing press, something he clearly does not enjoy. Same goes for his star, Joaquin Phoenix, who turned up to the DGA Theatre to pose for photos and make a brief appearance on stage with the rest of the cast as Aster introduced the A24 epic.
“I still can’t quite believe I was given the resources and the freedom to make this in the way that we did,” Aster said during those remarks in front of a capacity crowd that included Pedro Pascal; Jenna Ortega; Jesse Williams; Everything Everywhere All at Once’s Daniel Kwan, Daniel Schienert, Jonathan Wang and Harry Shum Jr....

Director Ari Aster says it took about six months for Joaquin Phoenix to sign on to star in his new movie, “Beau Is Afraid.”
“You get on your hands and knees and beg,” Aster jokes about his first meeting with the Oscar winner. “He’s the best. He’s the greatest. He’s the prince. And those eyes. He could be so naked, so exposed, and he’s funny. He’s a funny guy.”
Aster (“Hereditary” and “Midsommar”) and his cast celebrated the Los Angeles premiere of the A24 film Monday night at the DGA in West Hollywood.
“It’s when I first saw ‘I’m Still Here’ that I knew I needed to work with this guy,” Aster said. “One, it’s such a funny film, and two, that performance is really a brilliant comic performance. But it’s also because as a gesture that movie is suicidal. What he...

Who’s ready to party?
Parker Posey’s beloved 1995 coming-of-age comedy “Party Girl” celebrates a 4K restoration with a national tour to mark the 28th anniversary of the film. “Party Girl” kicks off in New York City at the IFC Center on April 28, followed by a live Q&a with lead star Posey. The film simultaneously debuts in Los Angeles at Glendale Laemmle Theatre and Landmark Westwood Theatre also on April 28, with a live Q&a with film director Daisy von Scherler Mayer.
In the classic film, a 20-something, irresponsible party girl is bailed out of jail by her librarian godmother. To repay the loan, she starts working at the library and gradually turns her life around.
“We made this movie for ‘the kids’ — as we called them — young people from small towns, who had big dreams, and who weren’t, for whatever reason, conforming to the status quo,” Posey shared with IndieWire.
