Audiohook, an audio-focused demand-side platform (Dsp), and Sounder, the AI-powered audio intelligence platform and podcast advertising solution, today announced the launch of their cutting-edge episode-level contextual targeting capabilities. This new layer of their innovative partnership empowers advertisers to reach highly engaged audiences with laser precision by targeting specific content down to the individual episode level, going beyond the show's overall genre.
Traditionally, podcast advertising has often relied on a single self-declared genre, which by nature of the RSS standard is applied to all of the episodes within that show. This frequently leads to ad placements that are irrelevant to the listener because they fail to capture the nuances of the individual episode content, resulting in wasted advertising spend and a poor listener experience. Audiohook and Sounder's contextual targeting offering solves this problem by enabling advertisers to target specific topics discussed within individual podcast episodes.

In 1987, Disney was on a roll. Profits were up almost 80 percent and the company had 8,000 licensed products on shelves around the world. But then-ceo Michael Eisner wanted more. So he opened the first Disney Store, as a “natural extension of our company.”
“Every time there’s a new release of our classic movies, there’ll be something in the stores to remind you of that. I would hope that when we put out a new video of Mickey Mouse cartoons or of a Disney movie, the video will be sold in the stores. And when something is happening of some importance in the Disney Co., it will be reflected in the stores,” he told the Los Angeles Times at the time. “The stores are a great image … Especially if we have a lot of them around the country.”

Netflix is developing a version of Hollywood studios’ longtime revenue generator, launching an online store for branded merchandise.
The boutique site, Netflix.shop, features items like Lupin throw pillows ($60), Yasuke anime hoodies designed by Hypwear’s Jordan Bentley ($74). While initial offerings are limited, the shop will soon expand to include items for shows like Bridgerton, Money Heist, The Witcher and Stranger Things. For now, the retail operation is up and running in the U.S. only, but it will reach global territories in the coming months, the company said.
Josh Simon, Netflix’s VP of consumer products, joined the company in 2020 after a stint at Nike. He addressed the store opening in a blog post. “We’re thrilled to give fans a new way to connect with their favorite stories,” he wrote, “and to introduce them to the next wave of artists and designers who embrace the power of storytelling in all its forms.
