Selena Gomez last toured in 2016. She isn’t anxious to repeat the experience, particularly with her acting career booming.
In a cover story interview with Time, Gomez revealed mixed feelings.
“Nothing makes me happier than 90 minutes of being with my fans and just celebrating together,” Gomez said, adding she feels “50/50” on the matter.
“It is very emotionally draining for me. And then you realize you’re just surrounded by a bunch of people that you’re paying,” Gomez added.
The last time Gomez toured, she called a halt to things and revealed she was struggling with anxiety and depression as a side effect from lupus.
She’s now cautious on who she spends time with.

On awards day, there is what they call le reprise des films de la Compétition – essentially each film in the comp receives one extra screening for those who might have missed the film, and while our top three films didn’t move, some scores did become official. Rasoulof’s The Seed of the Sacred Fig edged out Kapadia’s All We Iagine as Light but one point, while Schrader’s Oh, Canada technically edged out Arnold’s Bird and Jia Zhangke’s Caught by the Tides if we take into consideration the decimal point differences. The 77th Cannes Film Festival has come to a close. As with every year, the festival was host to its share of standing ovations, divisive screenings and debates over just which films and performances would take home awards at the end of the 12-day event, widely considered the most prestigious in the entire world. After two weeks of nonstop cinema, the moment of truth finally arrived. The winners of the 77th Cannes Film Festival were announced at a gala ceremony on Saturday night.
The Palme d’Or, the fest’s top honor, went to Sean Baker’s sex worker screwball comedy Anora. A nervous and shaking Baker took the stage and thanked the jury, saying he still “couldn’t believe it.” Baker said winning Cannes’ top prize has been “my singular goal as a filmmaker for the past 30 years.”
Baker also singled out Francis Ford Coppola and David Cronenberg, two veteran directors with films in Cannes competition this year, as major inspirations. Baker has come far, going from shooting his 2015 feature Tangerine on an iPhone5s to winning the Palme d’Or. He is the first American director to win the Palme since Terrence Malick for The Tree of Life in 2011.

And finally, it came down to the wire for not one, but two films that disrupted what had been the top-ranked film among our Cannes Critics’ Panel members. The 2024 Cannes Film Festival may be winding down, but the Cannes market is still heating up. IndieWire reports that Netflix currently has the splashiest deals of this week so far, with the streamer picking up the US and UK rights for Jacques Audriard‘s Palme d’Or favorite, “Emilia Pérez.” And that’s not the only thing Netflix snagged today. The streaming giant also acquired John Lee Hancock‘s legal thriller “Monsanto,” which has Glen Powell, Laura Dern, and Anthony Mackie attached to star.

Cannes Film Festival went apeshit for the jaw-dropping, nauseating, defiant, hilarious “The Substance” — a body horror thriller from French director Coralie Forgeat starring Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley — on Sunday night with an 11-minute standing ovation.
It’s the tale of a once-great actress (Moore) whose certain age has relegated her to a Jane Fonda-style fitness show. When she’s fired, she is offered a trial of the medical treatment the film is named for. It promises a younger, better version of herself through a cell replicating process.
Moore takes a leap of faith and winds up on the bathroom floor, spine split open like a Christmas ham, when this new version — played by Qualley — comes slithering out of her back. Young, supple and brimming with possibilities, the two characters are allowed to coexist with one important caveat: they must trade one week on, one week off in each body.

Gascón, who is trans, today spoke about the prejudice she has faced in the Latin America and Hispanic communities.
“People who are trans are subjected to insults or death threats because they exist. In Mexico, there are harsh phrases when addressing trans people. It can be gross,” the actress explained.

On paper, it looks mad as a loose wheel. A largely Spanish-language musical about a Mexican druglord having a sex change, featuring onetime Disney teen star Selena Gomez as a gangster’s wife: nobody could deny director and writer Jacques Audiard’s giddy determination to do something different, but how could Emilia Pérez be anything but a hot mess? The Cannes Film Festival kicked off its 77th edition Tuesday with the opening ceremony followed by the world premiere on Wednesday, 15 May, of director George Miller’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, led by Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth, and Tom Burke.
Miller created the iconic dystopian world of the Mad Max universe over four decades ago, beginning with the 1979 film Mad Max and continuing with sequels Mad Max II: The Road Warrior (1981) and Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome (1985). Nine years after Mad Max: Fury Road (2015), the Australian director, screenwriter, and producer famous saga is back on the Croisette presented in the Out of Competition gala screening at the Grand Théâtre Lumière at the Palais des Festivals.
The premiere was attended by Chris Hemsworth, Anya Taylor-Joy, George Miller, Elsa Pataky, Eva Green, Greta Gerwig, Baz Luhrmann, Faye Dunaway, Naomi Campbell and Billy Zane.

Jacques Audiard, the Oscar-nominated French director (“A Prophet”), is finally getting ready to shoot his next film, “Emilia Perez,” this spring with a cast led by Karla Sofia Gascón, Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldaña.
After “Paris, 13th District,” an intimate black-and-white film about millennial love, Audiard is aiming to build a larger canvas for “Emilia Perez,” a musical crime comedy which Audiard tells Variety will lense in a studio near Paris instead of Mexico, as originally planned.
Gascón, a rising Argentinian trans actor, will play a feared Mexican cartel leader who undergoes a sex change to get away from the law, becoming the woman he’s always wanted to be.
Audiard says the idea for “Emilia Perez” came to him more than two years ago as “an opera libretto in four acts,” and that’s how he wrote the treatment.
