He was a FIFA World Cup winner with England in 1966. He made 73 appearances for England as a goalkeeper between 1963 and 1972, which included appearances at two FIFA World Cups (1966 and 1970).
He was awarded the OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the 1970 Queen's Birthday Honours List for his services to Association Football.
