Bella Ramsey did an exceptional job with their work in the first season of the live-action adaptation of The Last of Us on HBO. However, the performer was greeted with a mixed reception due to their appearance. The community is more concerned about their looks than their talent.
First impressions last and Ramsey was not the first pick by the gaming community, nor the second to portray Ellie Williams. Early set photos of the second season have made their way online and Ramsey is under fire yet again for the same reason they were attacked for the first season.

Fill the cannons with stuffed animals and watch the fluff fly as Eli Roth’s Borderlands takes the Lionsgate stage at CinemaCon! The annual entertainment event is in full swing after yesterday’s Warner Bros. panel and reveal of Todd Phillips’s Joker: Folie à Deux trailer. With film and television fans fired up about upcoming releases, Lionsgate is ready to take them to a wasteland where kooky characters try to kill each other, and a fabled vault of riches awaits.
The Last of Us showrunner Craig Mazin wrote the initial screenplay for Borderlands but removed his name from the project after the script was rewritten by Roth, Juel Taylor, Tony Rettenmaier, Joe Crombie, Chris Bremner, and Sam Levinson. Zak Olkewicz wrote scenes for Miller during the reshoots. Elements from drafts Aaron Berg and Oren Uziel wrote before Mazin have reportedly made their way into the film as well. So...

The first season of HBO’s The Last of Us TV series adapted Naughty Dog’s 2013 video game of the same name. Now, the second season is all set to adapt the video game’s 2020 sequel, The Last of Us Part II. Since many fans have already played the game, they are sure that one shocking twist will be featured in the show as well.
Warning: Potential spoilers for The Last of Us season 2 ahead!
Pedro Pascal as Joel Miller in The Last of Us
Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us 2 focuses more on Ellie and Abby than Joel. The game reveals that Joel kills Abby’s father in the hospital at the end of The Last of Us. As a result, Abby gets her revenge in the second game by killing Joel. Fans believe that the show will adopt this storyline. However, the show’s creator, Craig Mazin,...

When showrunners Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin were gearing up to go into production on the first season of the HBO series adaptation of the video game The Last of Us, there was a lot of talk about – and fan support for the idea of – Kaitlyn Dever from Booksmart and No One Will Save You playing the Ellie character. Dever even participated in a table read for the show… but she didn’t end up being in it. Now Druckmann and Mazin are preparing for The Last of Us season 2, which is (according to Production List) expected to start filming in Vancouver, Canada on January 7, 2024. For this season, they’ll have to find someone to play the Abby Anderson character from the video game The Last of Us Part II. And industry scooper Jeff Sneider hears that they’re circling back to Dever for this role.

David Fincher is “glad” the long-gestating “World War Z” sequel was ultimately scrapped.
The “Killer” director told GQ UK that the slated “World War Z” sequel would have explored similar themes to hit HBO series “The Last of Us,” which was based off of the video game franchise of the same name.
“Well, it was a little like ‘The Last of Us,'” Fincher said of the follow-up he planned to Marc Forster’s 2013 zombie apocalypse movie. “I’m glad that we didn’t do what we were doing, because ‘The Last of Us’ has a lot more real estate to explore the same stuff.”
Fincher continued, “In our title sequence, we were going to use the little parasite…they used it in their title sequence, and in that wonderful opening with the Dick Cavett, David Frost-style talk show.”
“World War Z” starred Brad Pitt as a U.N.

The Writers Guild of America (WGA) has been on strike since May 2 after the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) failed to meet their reasonable terms during contract negotiations. This strike halted a number of film and television productions, although some continued until the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) was also forced to go on strike by the AMPTP after the studios failed to meet their reasonable terms, even after the negotiation deadline was extended to July 12.
SAG-AFTRA officially went on strike July 14, and since then, a number of film and TV productions have been paused while we wait for the AMPTP to return to the table to negotiate in good faith. Given that sources close to the AMPTP recently said that they are willing to “break the WGA” and wait for them to essentially starve and become homeless before returning to the table,...

Despite the simultaneous WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes currently in motion in Hollywood, The Last of Us Season 2 might hit HBO on schedule. Craig Mazin, the co-creator of the post-apocalyptic drama, told Deadline he and the other writers of the show made inroads on the second season before the WGA strike deadline. “We got pretty far actually,” he said. “We were doing great.” Mazin — pictured with Tlou stars Merle Dandridge and Pedro Pascal below — also revealed that the writers have a plan for the whole season, and they finished the script for the first episode. “So now I’m just walking around kind of brain-writing, I guess, which I don’t think is scabbing,” he said. “I take walks and I think through the scenes because when the bell rings and this is over because the companies have finally come to their senses, I’m going to have to basically shoot...

Part 1 of two-part interview with The Last Of Us creator Craig Mazin about series’ 24 Emmy nominations, the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes and Season 2 of the hit HBO series.
In 2019, Craig Mazin’s Chernobyl landed 19 Emmy nominations and converted 10 into wins, including two for Mazin, Outstanding Limited Series and Writing. Four years later, Mazin’s followup for HBO, The Last Of Us, received 24 noms on Wednesday, including Outstanding Drama Series and Writing for Mazin’s standout Episode 3 script, Long, Long Time.
Despite the massive nomination haul, bringing the first major awards recognition to a live-action series based on a video game, Emmy glory was not on Mazin’s mind when making The Last Of Us, an adaptation of what he calls “in my opinion, the best story ever told in the video game genre.”
“Anybody that expects any of these things when you start is nuts because making things, it’s just really hard.

Though it was at one point reported that the most recent draft of Lionsgate’s “Borderlands” movie had been co-written by Craig Mazin, that involvement doesn’t seem to be true.
Questions about the “Chernobyl” and “The Last of Us” writer’s attachment began to rise on Sunday, when World of Reel reported that “Borderlands” was in “post-production hell” and that Mazin had removed his name from the project, opting instead to use the pseudonym “Joe Crombie.” While the Writers Guild of America’s website does list Joe Crombie as a co-writer alongside director Eli Roth, Mazin is now publicly denying that the pen name is his.
“I am not a credited writer on the film, so I cannot claim any kind of authorship of ‘Borderlands,’ much less ‘co-writing,'” he said in a statement to Variety. “I did see the report about the pseudonym, which is false. I did not use a pseudonym.

The Last of Us was a massive success for HBO, but showrunner Craig Mazin told Entertainment Weekly that he’s accepted that the second season will piss some people off. I won’t dive into any spoilers, but if you’ve played The Last of Us Part II, you likely know what Mazin is referring to.
It’s too early to say just how closely The Last of Us season two will follow the second game, and Craig Mazin isn’t about to say. “I’m never gonna say there are things that are gonna happen in the show that happened in the game. You never know what we’re gonna do,” Mazin said. “But I will say that it is the adventure, the journey is the point. There are things that will shock people, things that were in the game, things that were not in the game, and that’s okay.

After a spring spent breaking audiences’ hearts and viewership records for HBO, “The Last of Us” co-creator and showrunner Craig Mazin is having a complicated summer.
On one hand, Mazin’s show just earned 24 Emmy nominations — more than any other show this year besides HBO peer “Succession.” Highlights include lead acting nods for Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey; a whopping seven guest acting nods including deaf 10-year-old actor Kevionn Montreal Woodard; and another in the outstanding drama series category.
But on the other, Mazin is a proud member of the Writers Guild of America, which has been on strike for 72 days against the studios, networks and streamers that make up the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.
The prolific writer spoke to Variety hours after nominations were announced to discuss the achievements he’s most proud of, his take on the WGA’s proposed staffing minimums for writers rooms and more.

First Keivonn Montreal Woodard broke the hearts of The Last of Us fans, now he’s breaking a record.
The 10-year-old newcomer just picked up an Emmy nomination for guest actor in a drama series, making him the youngest ever to be honored in the category.
Woodard — who is deaf — played a young deaf apocalypse survivor named Sam.
The character was a departure from The Last of Us game which served as the HBO drama’s source material and won praise from fans and showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann.
“He was astonishing,” Mazin said on HBO’s The Last of Us podcast. “I have never been in a circumstance where a kid, who has never really acted on film before, shows up and is so naturally good at it. He was a joy to have around, and a total dream. He’s incredible and I cannot wait to see more from him.

Once he saw Chernobyl, Neil Druckmann decided it was time to have lunch with the writer behind the hit HBO limited series. Druckmann had no ulterior motive in wanting to meet Craig Mazin other than to “gush” about the 2019 historical drama — that is, until they began to chat about The Last of Us action-adventure game, which Druckmann wrote in 2014.

Bella Ramsey is very excited to get started filming "The Last of Us" season two and Ellie's romantic storyline in the second video game, "The Last of Us Part II." In the game, after a five year time jump from the first season, Ellie has a romance with a woman named Dina. In season one, viewers briefly saw Ellie's past relationship with her friend Riley (Storm Reid), but Ellie and Dina's bond is a major part of the second installment.
"Yeah, 100 percent, I can't wait for that storyline," Ramsey told British Vogue about the queer romance in an article published June 13. Voice and motion capture performer Troy Baker has played many roles in seminal video game franchises. Having played characters like Booker DeWitt in "Bioshock Infinite" and Sam Drake in the "Uncharted" franchise, Baker is best known for his role as Joel Miller in "The Last of Us." No one could play Joel as Baker did in Naughty Dog's survival horror video game — Baker imbued the character with the perfect amount of nuance and complexity, painting Joel as a morally-grey protagonist capable of both cruelty and compassion. For someone like Baker to be so intimately involved with "The Last of Us," and to be a part of a franchise that evolved and gained immense popularity over the course of a decade, a live-action series adaptation was bound to evoke complicated feelings.

They always say that if there's a question mark in a headline then the answer to whatever that question is "No." So let's get that out of the way right up front. Will the original voice and performance capture actor from "The Last of Us Part 2" video play the main antagonist, Abby, in "The Last of Us" season 2? I can pretty confidently say no.
Laura Bailey performed Abby Anderson in the video game and did a hell of a job, I must say. Abby is a complicated character, full of determined rage and surprising depth and Bailey absolutely captured that in her performance, but there's a slight complication in that she doesn't really embody the character and her unique physicality in the real world.

Craig Mazin looks exasperated.
The Last of Us showrunner just finished a marathon press junket for his upcoming HBO zombie drama, and every reporter that trotted into his hotel suite asked him the same question. “Literally all day long,” he marvels. “Over and over. They even phrased it the same way.”
The question: What are the challenges of adapting a video game?
Which is fine, as questions go. But it’s actually the polite version of the real question, which is this: Can you make a dramatic adaptation of a video game that doesn’t disappoint like all the rest of them have?
After all, Hollywood has been attempting to alchemize games into movies and TV shows for decades — from Street Fighter to Doom to Halo to Assassin’s Creed. And aside from a few kid-targeted titles like Sonic franchise, the result has been billions of pixels of meh.
