Cornerstone Films co-founder Alison Thompson will be the industry ambassador for the 20th anniversary edition of European business training and leadership skills development programme Inside Pictures, which has selected 20 participants including executives from Amazon, Studiocanal and Mubi.

Producer Daisy Allsop has joined UK-based production, financing and sales company WestEnd Films as head of acquisitions and development.
Allsop is already in place in her new role, through which she will oversee projects across WestEnd’s film and TV slate. She will attend this month’s Berlinale and European Film Market (February 16-22) on behalf of the company.
Allsop will continue to operate her own producing slate through her company Archface Films; her credits include Annabel Jankel’s 2018 romance Tell It To The Bees with Anna Paquin and Holliday Grainger.

Allsop takes over from Toby Hill and has already started her new role. She will attend the Berlin film festival, where WestEnd will debut Traitor, a new television series from the creators of False Flag, Valley of Tears, and Euphoria.
As an independent producer, Allsop’s credits include Tell It To The Bees (2018), Orthodox (2015), and the forthcoming My Happy Ending, starring Andie Macdowell and Miriam Margolyes. Allsop is also a screenwriter, represented by Casarotto Ramsay. She continues to operate her producing slate through Archface Films.

In the midst of the ongoing war with Russia, 75 of Ukraine’s noted musicians have come together to bring a message of defiance and hope. Some of their family members are on the frontlines, and many have fled Ukraine since the war began.
Myrie follows the stories of the musicians from rehearsing, often alone, in Ukraine, to coming together for their first rehearsal as an orchestra in Warsaw for their inaugural concert — ahead of a tour of Europe and the U.S., including a performance at the BBC Proms on July 31.

Comcast-owned Sky has become the first major British network to greenlight commissions of scale written and directed by a person with Down Syndrome, the pay-tv giant has said.
The network has ordered two shows from Otto Baxter, short film The Puppet Asylum and companion doc Otto Baxter: Not a F*cking Horror Story. Both will be given a theatrical window before airing on Sky.

Maymon co-wrote the screenplay for the Oscar winning live action short, Skin.

K5 International has secured world sales rights to David Leon’s debut feature film crime drama, Orthodox.
The company has already struck a deal with British distributor Kaleidoscope to take the film for theatrical release in the UK and Ireland.

The film was financed by Ingenious Media.
The story centres on Benjamin (Graham), an outsider in the Jewish community who takes up boxing as a means of self-defence. Alienated by his own choices, he finds comfort under the wing of shady fixer, Shannon (Smiley) and an involvement in unlicensed boxing pushes him further to the edges of his community.

Film London has revealed the 12 projects participating in Audience on Demand, the training and mentorship programme addressing the changing face of feature film distribution.
Details of the successful film-makers and projects were unveiled at The Future of Independent Distribution event at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, which featured a case study on Film London Microwave’s Borrowed Time, currently preparing for a self funded direct distribution UK release on August 16.
Audience on Demand, funded by Creative Skillset and run in partnership with Creative England, is a three-month pilot programme that mixes classroom and one-on-one sessions alongside dedicated mentoring from top industry experts.
For emerging UK talent with a completed first or second feature, a key aspect of the programme is a marketing and distribution plan created by Iris Lamprecht (Film Tiki). This enables the participating teams to develop...
