The revival of I Know What You Did Last Summer is appropriately set to hit theaters in the dead of summer.
Sony Pictures announced Thursday that its new film with the same name as the original 1997 slasher flick is set for theatrical release domestically on July 18, 2025. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge) is directing the sequel from a screenplay she co-wrote with Sam Lansky after an initial script from Leah McKendrick. Neal Moritz produces the film.
The Hollywood Reporter previously reported that Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. were in talks to reprise their roles from the first movie that hit theaters Oct. 17, 1997.
Also scheduled for release on July 18, 2025, is Paramount’s Naked Gun reboot from director Akiva Schaffer that features Liam Neeson as bumbling detective Frank Drebin.

Thirteen months have already gone by since it was announced that the 1997 slasher I Know What You Did Last Summer (watch it Here) was getting a new sequel with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge) set to direct from a screenplay by Leah McKendrick (M.F.A.) and Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. in talks to reprise the roles of Julie James and Ray Bronson. We haven’t heard much about the project since then, except when Prinze said he hadn’t actually gotten an offer yet and Hewitt said she would gladly come back for another sequel. There’s no word on when or if this sequel will be going into production – but during a recent interview with Collider, McKendrick did talk about making her pitch, collaborating with Robinson, and her reason for pursuing the job.

A brush of sadness crosses Hera Syndulla's (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) smile when her little green-haired son chirps, "I wanna be a Jedi," like his Aunt Sabine (Natasha Liu Bordizzo). To a "Star Wars Rebels" viewer, the intriguing part is that little Jacen Syndulla (Evan Whitten), a Twi'lek-human child, doesn't utter, "Like my dad!" Pragmatically, "Ahsoka," a live-action sequel to "Rebels," would not want to dive into excessive past characters. Jacen's human father seems to be a story that Hera prefers to explain to him another day. This is as tantalizing as his evolution from his original cartoon incarnation, which was precedent-setting for "Star Wars" humanoid hybrids.
Long before Werner Herzog said it on "The Mandalorian" season 1, a "Rebels" viewer might have demanded, "I would like to see the baby." No, not Grogu, the Mando's baby. But Jacen Syndulla. So "Ahsoka" finally debuting the little guy in live-action has ended...
