CBS’ NCIS this Tuesday celebrated Christmas with an episode that paid tribute to the many “rules” Gibbs has laid out over eleven-and-a-half seasons and also weaved in a surprising emotional punch.
On the surface, the holiday-themed outing was about a suspicious Washington, D.C.-wide Internet shutdown and how the NCIS team handled it, with the assist of three hackers that Gibbs & Co had put behind bars in recent years: “I.T. Kevin” (played by Ethan Rains), Heidi Partridge (Erin Allin O’Reilly) and Ajay Khan (Chuck‘s Vik Sahay).
McGee related the case to his father, Admiral John McGee,...

Rule No. 8: “Never take anything for granted.”
CBS’ NCIS takes that to heart tonight at 8/7c, with a Christmas episode that reflects on one of the long-running drama’s recurring themes: Gibbs’ Rules.
“I wanted for a while to do an episode about Gibbs’ rules,” showrunner Gary Glasberg tells TVLine, “and Chris Waild, one of my writer-producers, had the clever idea of incorporating it into our Christmas show.”
The framing device, per Glasberg: “McGee (played by Sean Murray) is writing a letter to his father, sitting at the great, old typewriter that he writes his books on, sort of...

Series creator Peter Nowalk teases that viewers should “definitely pay attention to” that tidbit of background information. “That was a big bomb. It was buried in a bunch of information that was not significant, and it explains a lot of Wes’ behavior...

Horatio (David Caruso) has breakfast with his son, Kyle (Evan Ellington) and thinks the waitress likes him. Horatio says it's the uniform she likes. Actually Kyle thinks it's the man wearing the uniform. He's going to be transferred and deployed in 14 days. He has a dangerous job; which Kyle likens to being just as dangerous as Horatio's job. His friend Brian Nassir (Ethan Rains) appears to be missing and he inherited the lot from his father. Someone's on fire inside and Kyle believes it's Brian. Me Tom (Christian Clemenson) warns the others to be careful as the limbs may fall off the Db. To Horatio, the killing resembles an execution and reminds Me Tom of the gang wars in the 1990's.The Db is encased in rubber. Natalia (Eva Larue) finds an antique torch. Horatio tells her the gas can may have prints. The Range Rover parked outside doesn't belong to Brian.

Well folks, it appears we're going with the one on/one off schedule again. After a decent episode last week -- filled with a returned to glory Jack -- we're back to a fairly uninteresting episode that does at least do away with some of the more idiotic sub-plottery. It's filler time! This would be understandable if we'd had more great episodes than poor, but since we haven't, I'm feeling let down. One would think the writers know they need to keep us hooked if they want their jobs to go on, but perhaps even they know it's time to quit. And thus I must use this moment to beg, plead, whine, cajole - whatever it takes, just please(!) do not(!) send Jack off(!) with Renee!!! That would not be the happy ending 24 fans want, in fact I daresay we'd rather see Jack dead. So do it, kill the man...

Those of you who enjoy the student horror sub-genre will be pleased to hear that the UK DVD release of Eliza Dushku's Open Graves has been moved forward a week to Monday, February 15.
Take a beach surfing setting, populate with hot babes and hunky guys, sprinkle with supernatural shocks and you have the ingredients for this release, which follows well-worn conventions and is a sort of cross between Final Destination and Jumanji.
It's aided by some history-based dark magic and there are a couple of gruesome scenes that may make you wince (involving a toenail and an eyeball), although today's teens probably won't bat an eyelid.
Whether this kind of teen scream feature gets filed under proven formula or overused cliche will depend on your tastes. It will likely find its strongest audience with fans of Eliza Dushku.
In the story, young American expatriate Jason (Mike Vogel) spends his...
