While series judges Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel are still around to offer their support and critique of the acts, the power is out of their hands and rests all in America’s vote. Only two acts from each of the five qualifying groups will win over America and earn a spot in the “AGT” finale.

“America’s Got Talent” began the live shows of its 18th season on August 22 with the first round of performances in the “Qualifiers.” On Tuesday night’s show, 11 acts performed for America’s vote and only two of them will advance to “The Finals” when the results are delivered by Terry Crews on Wednesday night. Before that happens, we can reveal that Your favorite act of the night was the dog act from Italy, Adrian Stoica and Hurricane, as voted on by viewers in Gold Derby’s overnight poll.
Adrian and his companion dog Hurricane performed a comedic routine where Adrian was attempting to complete yard duty tasks, but kept getting thwarted by Hurricane’s antics. Adrian believes that what separates him and Hurricane from dog acts on previous seasons is that he allows her to improvise in their performances, leaving room for unexpected and unintended excitement. Howie Mandel tried to play matchmaker on Tuesday’s (August 22) live episode of America’s Got Talent, as he joked that his fellow judge Sofía Vergara is single and ready to mingle following her divorce from Joe Manganiello. The moment came after 12-year-old ventriloquist Brynn Cummings wowed the judges with her performance, which included a funny skit in which she set Heidi Klum up with an eligible bachelor puppet named Lovebird. But Mandel had some advice for her next performance. “You’re adorable,” Mandel said. “I love that you blend magic and ventriloquism. You deserve to be here. I hope America loves you. If I had one word of advice, if you’re looking for eligible bachelors, you should have talked to Sofía because she’s in the market right now.” While some of the audience reacted in shock to Mandel’s comment, Vergara appeared unfazed, responding by throwing her hands into the air and cheering,...
