Debuting in 2016 with Captain America: Civil War, Chadwick Boseman became an integral part of MCU as T’Challa, aka Black Panther. Thereafter, the actor reprised his iconic role in Black Panther (2018), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and even in Avengers: Endgame (2019). Later on, although Boseman was supposed to continue his role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the actor unfortunately met with an untimely death due to cancer.

"Black Panther" had a strong supporting cast all around, but by far the breakout character of the movie was Winston Duke's M'Baku, leader of Wakanda's Jabari tribe. Unlike most of Wakanda's people -- who pay tribute to the panther god Bast, follow the leadership of the royal family, and hail the Black Panther as their protector -- the Jabari worship the gorilla god Hanuman, and retreated from the rest of Wakandan society centuries ago to live under their own leadership.
The Jabari have a lot going for them: badass battle cries, furry armor, war paint, great views from their mountaintop locale, and a healthy vegetarian diet. But easily their greatest strength is their charismatic leader, who has been both a foil and an ally to the Black Panther, and is played by an actor who steals every scene he's in.

How can you do a Black Panther movie without Chadwick Boseman? The shocking news of Boseman’s death in 2020 raised many questions about the sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Realizing that there’s no replacing Boseman himself, Kevin Feige and director Ryan Coogler decided against recasting T’Challa and allowing a different character to become the Black Panther.
Of the many characters in the MCU, the Black Panther may be best suited to legacy. After all, we know from the first film that T’Challa was just the latest in a long line of Panthers, that he took the mantle never thinking that he would be the last. But even that presents a problem, as Killmonger burned Wakanda’s crop of heart-shaped herb, the Vibranium-laced plant that gives the Panthers their powers.
With these challenges in place, there was really only one...

“With the Strength of Ra!” For this month’s installment of “TV Terrors” we revisit “Mummies Alive!“, an animated series for kids that aired in syndication back in 1997.
It’s hard to put a finger on why “Mummies Alive!” never really clicked with audiences. Sure, now it’s considered a cult classic and is mostly adored by horror geeks and nostalgia buffs, but back in 1997 “Mummies Alive!” arrived with a roar, and landed with a splat. I blame the lack of success on bad timing. I peg it mainly on the arrival of the 4Kids brand, as by the middle of 1997, 4Kids Anime had made its explosive debut in America with “Pokemon.” Once 4Kids introduced networks to licensed content that brought in big ratings, suddenly the conventional Saturday morning cartoon was dead.
Kids were just more interested in pocket monsters than undead monsters. It seemed to happen almost overnight, and...

In "Thor: Love and Thunder," Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Jane Foster aka the Mighty Thor (Natalie Portman), Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), and Korg (director Taika Waititi) travel to Omnipotence City, the gathering place for deities of all pantheons. They're visiting to ask Zeus (Russell Crowe), the king of the Greek gods (and master of ceremonies), for help in their fight against Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale). The stands are full of figures of worship from all across the universe when they enter the arena.
We've got Zeus and his Greek pantheon including Dionysus, Athena, and Artemis. We've got the Kronan (Korg's people), a god made of rock sitting on a throne of scissors, the Egyptian and Wakandan cat goddess Bast, an Elche goddess, Quetzalcóatl from the Aztecs, and others that we're probably familiar with. There are the gods of emotion that our heroes disguise themselves as, a creature called Fur God,...

Netflix's new series "The Sandman," based on the comic book series by Neil Gaiman, introduces the world to a special set of seven siblings: The Endless. Each of the Endless represents something that is immutable and permanent in the human experience, and they are Death, Dream, Despair, Desire, Destiny, Destruction, and Delirium. Each has their own realm and powers, operating in their own unique way, though they are not exactly gods. They do, however, interact with gods and other religious figures throughout the comic series, including the fallen angel Lucifer and the Egyptian goddess of cats, Bast. They have powers that rival those of the gods,...

Gorr the God Butcher has always been destined to kill a lot of gods in Thor: Love and Thunder. As we saw in the trailer for the upcoming movie, the corpse of the mighty Falligar the Behemoth is evidence of the alien’s immense hatred of deities, and his bid to rid the galaxy of anyone fashioning themselves into a god. When it comes to the inhabitants of the Marvel Cinematic Universe though, you’d be forgiven for the inevitable confusion surrounding one crucial question: Who can actually be defined as a god?
Well, we’re defining a god as any being that holds incredible power, and usually immortality. They are often worshipped and surrounded by rich mythology, getting placed on a pedestal. They have a distinct purpose as well, whether that’s to shape worlds or to become a cultural influence and represent a particular societal value.
