Like him or not, Morgan Wallen is one of the biggest music artists in the world at the moment, in any genre. The country singer’s relatively young career has been a roller-coaster ride, to say the least, from the genuinely inspired to the boneheaded, and, in one case, shameful. Here’s a closer look at the major times the Sneedville, Tennessee, native has made waves with his music, his actions, or his words.

A federal lawsuit alleges that NBCUniversal, the National Football League, and recording artist Carrie Underwood are among those who plagiarized a YouTube song to create the Sunday Night Football opening theme song “Game On” that precedes the athletic action. Snf is typically one of the primetime ratings leaders during its season and a bright spot for the televised NFL games.
The lawsuit was filed in the Us District Court for the Southern District of New York by songwriters Heidi Merrill, Alex Wong, Jeff Cohen and Niclas Lundin, who claim they created a slightly different version of the Sunday Night Football theme song performed by Underwood. Read the complaint here.
The lawsuit also names various Underwood-affiliated music publishers and her recording company, as well as songwriters Chris DeStefano, Brett James and Underwood producer Mark Bright.

I’ll never forget seeing “Rent” for the first time. My mom used to bring me to shows in New York, so I was used to “Phantom of the Opera” and “Cats,” which are great, but hadn’t really hit home as an artist. “Rent” was the most inspiring musical I had ever seen.
When I was 16 or 17 I was on a trip to New York with my girlfriend at the time and her mother, who was a really devout, reads the bible every day Christian woman. I knew nothing about “Rent” and I was in charge of picking the play. It is obviously a show about AIDS and a gay relationship, and especially at that time, it was a barrier — something that people didn’t really talk about. I brought this woman, and she was terrified, and I was like, “Oh no, what have I done!?” But for me,...

The first of this year's knockout battles on "The Voice" for Monday delivered a first for the NBC reality show. Three artists had to duel instead of a duo because a contender left the program. -Break- Coach Pharrell Williams informed his team that Anthony Riley departed due to "personal reasons." That meant Sawyer Fredericks, Paul Pfau, and Mia Z faced off with two being safe and one going home. Fredericks performed "Collide" (Howie Day) against Pfau singing "I Don't Need No Doctor" (John Mayer) and Mia with "Hold On, I'm Comin'" (Sam and Dave). Pfau was the odd one out and is now done. Related: Who is your favorite 'The Voice' coach of all time? During these knockout rounds this week and next, each coach has Nate Ruess (.fun) as an advisor and one steal to save a performer from elimination. In other battles on Monday: Sonic sang...

VH1′s latest wallow in very recent nostalgia is, by nature, a silly exercise: On Saturday, the five-night anthology will end by celebrating the long-ago year of 2009—you know, that dark age when The Simpsons was only in its 21st season, and commuters who wanted to play Angry Birds had no choice but to do it on the iPhone 3Gs. Those suckers didn’t even have iOS 7!
If it’s going to be done, though, it might as well be done right—which is why there was something vaguely disappointing about the pop-culture milestones celebrated in the miniseries’ fifth and sixth episodes,...

Blind auditions continue along as week two of "The Voice" Season 6 wraps up on Tuesday (March 4), with coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Shakira and Usher trying their hardest to fill up their teams. Unfortunately for one, the night ends with the same team count as it began. Let's get into it.
Up first is 26-year-old rocker Megan Ruger, who uses her rock sensibilities to stand out in Nashville, but says she's feeling stuck there. She takes the stage with Pink's "Just Like A Pill." Right off the bat, there's a really interesting, throaty quality to the opening verse, that's matched in quality by her upper register belting. It's a really terrific audition -- which is why it's a bit of a head-scratcher no one really turns around.
Finally, though, Blake and Usher hit their buttons. Blake tries to play on the Nashville connection, while Usher reminds that she's clearly not a country singer,...

The blind auditions continued on The Voice with two standouts, rocker Megan Ruger and soulful Audra McLaughlin, going Team Blake. Judges Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Shakira and Usher had an uneven night with Part 4 of the blind auditions. Shakira picked up a few artists, as did Usher and Blake, but Adam ended the episode with as many artists as he started with.
Megan Ruger, 26, a young country rocker was first up on The Voice stage. Her pre-audition package was about her relationship with her adoptive father, who adopted her when she was a baby, and their close bond. Megan went with Pink’s “Just Like A Pill,” her voice deep and smoother than Pink’s raspy edge. Blake and Usher both pushed their buttons at the last second. Usher was immediately discouraged when Megan said she was from Nashville, which is Blake’s city of choice, and, indeed, Megan ended up Team Blake.

Tonight the Top 12 girls take the American Idol stage for their first taste at live performance.
And speaking of that stage- again - I had a thought today: Isn't this stage only used, typically, during the semifinalist rounds, which usually last much longer than this year's? Are we going to be seeing this stage again? Or did producers sink a ton of money into renovating this stage for one week of performances? Why do I even care?
These are the things I ponder while driving, y'all. Anyway, let's get to it. The girls have Contestant Cams and we've got songs to hear.
Chelsea Sorrell's up first. I'm from the south, but Chelsea? Chelsea's Southern. So Southern I can barely understand her. She tackles Carrie Underwood's "Cowboy Casanova." When you do a song by an Idol, the same rule applies regarding performing a current hit: you best do it better than the original.

Tonight, the remaining 10 contestants are revealed. Finally. And Ryan promises another twist we won't see coming.
American Idol's skipping the formalities and jumping straight to the action and so are we.
We're picking up right where we left off with a blubbering Adam Brock. We get to hear again that the one thing he'd do if he could do anything is sing. Steven says he loves to watch a man cry, so he hates to do this, but Adam's made it to the Top 24. J.Lo wipes away a few tears, too.
Jeremy Rosado makes the long walk next. He wowed the judges in his final audition and received a standing ovation from all three of them. There's a lot of soul in this 19 year old. J.Lo says he's a nice kid and calls his final audition transcendental. "There's no way we wouldn't want you in the Top 24 this year,...

Ryan introduced us to the city of Pittsburgh tonight, telling us that the trip was so successful they all wondered why they'd never been there before. “Everything we do, we do it big,” said one hopeful. (Texas called. It wants its slogan back.)
Without the pomp and circumstance of the season 11 premiere - and without the need for bloating the show to fit a two-hour time slot - we jumped right into the auditions.
Hallie Day Audition
First up was Heejun Han. When he hit the screen I thought “is this guy high?” And then I thought “No, just socially awkward.” And then I thought “No. Definitely high. This is going to be awful.” Then he sang. Somehow we’re supposed to believe that 1) no one has Ever heard him sing before, and 2) he had no idea he could sing in the first place. I'm completely confused by this guy.

It hurts me to even imply there's something that might not be perfect about this movie I love so much, but if I'm being honest, without Edwyn Collins, The Cranberries and Dire Straits (not to mention my beloved Toad the Wet Sprocket), this movie is just a lot of whiny teenagers and some quarters glued to the floor (though I'd love it dearly stll--i don't feel that I need to explain my art to you, Warren). I made special effort to disclude movies that would be absolutely nothing without their soundtracks (Singles, The Harder They Come) and this didn't fall in that realm for me, but even I, ardent lover I am, have to admit the soundtrack weighs more heavily on the scale than content.

I'm sorry. I know this to be one of the most divisive movies in 'jibaland. But dear Christ did it pretentch me into nothingness.

I usually go into writing my "Vampire Diaries" recaps with a snarky and silly attitude, but right now I'm feeling more nervous than anything!
It's no secret that "By The Light of the Moon" is Tyler's (Michael Trevino) big transformation episode, and judging by the clips we saw of Mason's first turn, it's going to be a hell of a night.
There's plenty going on in Mystic Falls that doesn't involve Tyler. Stefan is trapped in the tomb, Elena is still on a suicide mission, and Jeremy and Bonnie and Luka are part of the most lopsided love triangle ever.
I spent a few days with the cast of "The Vampire Diaries" on their set in Atlanta this week and got some fun insight into the shooting of this episode, which is definitely my most anticipated episode yet. Can they pull off this wolf-out? Let's see.

The '90s were a great time to be in a band, especially in the post-grunge era. Since it took the rock world so long to figure out what to do with itself following the death of Kurt Cobain, just about anybody could get song on the radio with a slightly crunchy guitar riff and an earnest chorus. That's not to say that everything was hacky; in fact, some of the stuff that came from that era was great. One of those great things? Better Than Ezra, who first broke big with the single "Good," which owned modern rock radio in the summer of 1995. The band's videos also dominated MTV, especially "In the Blood" and "Desperately Wanting," that latter of which came from the group's 1996 record Friction, Baby.

Colbie Caillat seems like a poster-child for Southern California. She's tan with sun-kissed blonde hair, and her style is laid-back and casual — and her 2007 album, Coco, proved that her music was no different. There's that same aura of sunshine and sweetness to her songs, which was exemplified by the hit, "Bubbly."
Fast-forward two years later to the 24-year-old singer/songwriter's second album, Breakthrough, which was released Tuesday (August 25). Although her first single from the record, "Fallin' for You," has the same happy-go-lucky vibe as her first hit, Caillat says she tried new writing techniques and instruments, like violin and cello, for a more mature version of her signature sweet sound.
