Ministry have announced their 16th studio album, Hopiumforthemasses, due March 1st, 2024. In advance of the LP, the industrial legends have offered up the video for lead single “Goddamn White Trash” featuring Pepper Keenan of Corrosion of Conformity.
In line with frontman Al Jourgensen’s M.O. as of late, Hopiumforthemasses looks to be another politically-charged rampage. The song titles say it all: “Just Stop Oil,” “Aryan Embarrassment,” etc.
“Just like you or anybody else, I’m simply a passenger in this lifetime,” commented Jourgensen in a press release. “I’m watching social changes, political changes, and economic changes, and I comment on them because I do have a First Amendment right. A lot of people say artists and athletes should shut up and play ball. No, I’m on this trip too.”
He continued, “If I see something, I say something. That reflects on where each album goes. Instead of...

Filter have announced their first new album in seven years, The Algorithm, arriving August 25th. The band has also offered up the new single “Obliteration” in advance of the LP’s release.
The track is a concise slab of noisy alt-rock that plays down Filter’s industrial leanings for a more pop-based arrangement. Frontman Richard Patrick’s vocals are hot in the mix, cutting through layers of guitar and pocketed drums. Although heavy and generally upbeat, it’s far from a cheery tune.
Sings Patrick: “Ashes circle the drain / And now it’s all that’s left / All that’s left of me / Sink my teeth in the pain / Watching the world go numb / And I’m just one step from obliteration.”
“Obliteration” was produced by Patrick and long-time collaborator Brian Virtue, while German-based filmmaker Atanas Shopski was tasked with projecting Patrick’s post-apocalyptic lyrical content in animated video form.

Filter are back with a bran -new song, “Face Down.” The track follows the band’s previously released single, “For the Beaten,” which dropped in October 2022. Both tracks will appear on the industrial rock act’s as-yet-untitled forthcoming album, due later this year via Golden Robot Records.
The new single “Face Down” features soulful verses that complement Filter’s classic sound, featuring dark, electronic beats, thick guitars, and frontman Richard Patrick’s layered, eerie vocals.
“‘Face Down’ speaks to the hate and negativity plaguing the world today,” Patrick said in a statement. “I wrote it after being inundated with lies, deceptions, and pure vitriol I saw on social media. I’m pumped. I can’t wait for everyone to hear the full album.”
In addition to the new song, Filter will present “California Screamin’,” a global concert stream performed live from Los Angeles via the platform Hitkor on June 17th.

Nine Inch Nails were finally able to celebrate their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction this weekend in their native Cleveland, which included a Saturday night concert that featured the return of several former members from the band’s Pretty Hate Machine era.
Although Trent Reznor and company were inducted into the Rock Hall in 2020, the event was scaled down to a television-only special due to the Covid-19 pandemic; a Cleveland celebration was then scheduled for 2021, only to be postponed again. Two years removed from the induction, the band...

You know what confuses me most about the song “Hey man, nice shot” by Filter? That the song never had a better use in a movie. The only movie it’s known to be in is the movie Cable Guy during the basketball scene. This is just unacceptable. Solid uses of the song in television took place in The X-Files, Supernatural and Tales from the Crypt “Demon Knight.” But how in the world has this song not been better used in a film? I would think that David Fincher could find a scene where this song would fit in perfectly. But

Niecy Nash wants everybody to know every body is beautiful.
The Claws actress, 47, shared an empowering body positivity message on Instagram and Twitter Thursday, along with a series of swimsuit-clad mirror selfies.
“I Apologize to myself! I bought a new swimsuit and tried it on last night, then proceeded to Drag Myself – pointing out every ‘flaw’, every bump, lump, scar, ripple and stretch mark,” Nash began her lengthy post.
But then the mother of three reframed her “flaws” as benefits.

Ariana Grande returned to the silver screen in a new horror film parody "Dog Face Filter," which was presented on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Thursday night. Meant to show the consequences of Snapchatting too much, the gag trailer shows the singer and a friend in their bedroom using various filters on the app. When they get to the popular puppy feature things change and Ariana gets put into a trance, obsessed with how cute she is. "What began as a game, became a nightmare," the voice says. "I love being a dog," Ariana tells her friend as she becomes hypnotized and continues to use the feature obsessively. But by the end of the trailer she soon realizes that the dog tongue, ears and nose are now permanent because "some snaps are forever." Ariana Grande performed her third studio album Dangerous Woman on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday night. She also premiered the trailer of little-known side project: horror film 'Dog Face Filter.'
The gag trailer shows Grande and a friend making goofy faces via the messaging app, adding a cartoonish filter that tweaks the singer's face with puppy features. But the playful vibe becomes sinister when Grande's silliness becomes an obsession. "I love being a dog," she says. "I'm so cute." By clip's end, that freakishly long dog tongue is permanent.

The only thing trailers love to use more than the "Inception" Braaaahm! is a moody, slowed-down cover of a popular song.
"Suicide Squad" is the latest trailer to take advantage of this trend, with its version of the Bee Gees' "I Started a Joke." Here are 13 more movie previews that make good use of great covers.
1. "Creep" in "The Social Network" (2010)
Arguably the trailer that started this trend, this preview uses a children's choir cover of Radiohead's song perfectly -- making us want to buy All the tickets to see the Facebook movie.
2. "Happy Together" in "The Great Gatsby" (2013)
Remember Filter? Lots of drives to high school were scored to this band, but Baz Luhrmann may have found an even better use for their vocal stylings in this kinda badass trailer for his 2013 film.
3. "Once Upon a Dream" in "Maleficent" (2014)
Covering a song from "Sleeping Beauty" in your movie based on that film's villain?...

Chicago – Warner Brothers likes to pull handfuls of titles out of their immensely deep catalog and they’ve come back with a unique, interesting wave of releases at low prices to spice up your Summer this year. The films have little in common (although several could be classified as sci-fi) and vary wildly in quality but all are likely to have a fan or two out there wondering why they haven’t been released on Blu-ray. Now they have.

If you’ve ever brushed off "Supernatural" as just another teenybopper WB show with a couple of pretty boys, you’re seriously missing out on one of the most sharply written, balls-to-the-wall genre shows around. In fact, it’s long surpassed the quality of its forefathers – former TV greats like "The X-Files" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" – for several reasons: While those shows lost momentum over time, "Supernatural" has gotten consistently better with every season.
Sure, teenage girls love it for the eye candy (better this than Twilight!), but the show’s heart is aimed right at horror purists with its complex apocalyptic mythology, geek in-jokes and twisted black humor. And we’d be remiss to not mention the soundtrack, which assembles the greatest collection of classic rock and metal the world has ever known!
While Season Five closed the book perfectly, we at Dread Central can’t help but miss the Winchester boys.

Every week, MTV Newsroom editor Kyle Anderson runs an in-office poll on the topic du jour. The idea is to acquaint you readers with some of the crazy people who inhabit the MTV newsroom. Last week's poll asked the difficult question: what is your favorite film soundtrack of all time?
As you've likely already figured out, that's a particularly relevant topic for MTV Movies Blog. I didn't have much trouble with my pick: "Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight." Here's what I had to say to the Newsroom audience:
"This one is easy for me, though it may earn me a few behind-the-back snickers around the office. The soundtrack to "Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight" remains my favorite to this day. It dropped while I was in high school, and every track was something I wanted to go home and crank up to 11. Let's start with the face-melting crunch: Sepultura,...
