Socialite Nicole Richie is returning to U.S. TV - the former The Simple Life star has landed her own comedy.
Richie has reportedly signed a deal with America's ABC network to star in a scripted comedy about a professional working mum.
The mother-of-two, who came up with the initial idea for the show herself, will serve as a producer, along with her manager Michael Baum, reports Deadline.com.
Richie rose to fame as a reality TV star with her pal Paris Hilton after appearing in The Simple Life. She has since made several small screen cameos, including a recent two-episode stint on NBC's Chuck.

Almost a year since it was first reported, Nicole Richie's TV show is back on the headline. The former reality star pitched an idea of a half-hour comedy about a "professional woman with complicated family relationships" but the project went stale for a year before ABC closes a new deal this month.
Deadline said ABC is moving on with the single-camera comedy and has assigned Jeff Rake ("Miss Match") to write the script. The original writer was Daisy Gardner ("Californication") under the supervision of Warren Bell. The Alphabet however retains Jamie Tarses' Fanfare and Sony TV as the producers. Together with Rakes, Tarses would be the executive producers.
Since Richie came up with the idea of the show, she would be credited as the producer along with her manager Michael Baum. No release date has been announced yet.
