We may know where Peter was headed when he jetted off in the Season 1 finale of The Night Agent.
Filming has begun on the second season of Netflix’s hit thriller drama, with the streamer’s start-of-production announcement unveiling that shooting of the new season will take place primarily in New York City with additional filming in Thailand and Washington D.C.
Season 1 of The Night Agent was set in and around Washington D.C. and filmed in Vancouver.
Given that we last saw Peter (Basso) taking off from D.C. in a private jet on his first mission as a Night Action spy, it is safe to assume that he is going to Thailand or a nearby country. That would answer one of the finale’s biggest questions.
Other major questions The Night Agent showrunner Shawn Ryan expected the show to address in Season 2 back in March include, What does it mean that Peter would be a night agent? Now that Rose is going back to California to try to restart her tech career, where does that leave Peter and Rose?
Season 2 also is moving the center of the action from the nation’s capital to the Big Apple as the series is rewarded for its big success in Season 1 — which ranks as the sixth most popular season of an English-language series on Netflix — with more expensive filming locations.
Basso and Luciane Buchanan return alongside previously announced new cast members Amanda Warren, Arienne Mandi, Louis Herthum, Berto Colon, Brittany Snow and Teddy Sears.
The Night Agent is on a very tight schedule as Netflix announced last week that Season 2 will premiere in 2024. Getting a 10-episode season of an elaborate action drama series ready before end of the year will be a major feat, especially given the fact that series on a global streamer like Netflix take longer to release because they also have to undergo dubbing/subtitling for the various territories.
The Night Agent is a character-based, action-thriller whose first season centered on a low-level FBI Agent who works in the basement of the White House, manning a phone that never rings — until the night that it does, propelling him into a fast-moving and dangerous conspiracy that ultimately leads to the Oval Office.
The series is created, showrun and executive produced by Shawn Ryan through his MiddKid Productions banner. David Beaubaire, Seth Gordon, Julia Gunn, Marney Hochman, Paul Neinstein, William Sherak, Nicole Tossou, James Vanderbilt, Paul Bernard and Munis Rashid also executive produce. The Night Agent is produced by Sony Pictures Television.

The Brady organization against gun violence is calling on Hollywood writers, directors and producers to examine onscreen gun violence and depictions of gun safety, asking the creative community to sign a pledge that’s already garnered more than 200 signatures of such names as Judd Apatow, Shonda Rhimes, Damon Lindelof and Jimmy Kimmel and the writers of Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Hollywood has come together to make a change over the portrayal of gun violence onscreen.
Judd Apatow, Mark Ruffalo, Jimmy Kimmel, Damon Lindelof, Adam McKay, Julianne Moore, Shonda Rhimes, Eli Roth, Mark Ruffalo, Amy Schumer, and John Glickman are among the first round of signatures for a petition calling for the film and TV industry to re-examine its influence on national gun violence in the U.S.
The petition, titled “Open Letter to Our Colleagues in the Creative Community,” calls for studios to model responsible gun safety practices in productions and curb portrayals of guns in scenes involving children. The effort, led by activists Christy Callahan, the co-chair of the Brady United Against Gun Violence organization’s Regional Leadership Council, and Robert Bowers Disney, comes after the Uvalde elementary school mass shooting on May 24.
“Considering there have been over 250 other mass shootings so far this year, it’s an almost incomprehensible tragedy.

Kevin Hart drama “Fatherhood” hit No.1 on Netflix in 82 countries after releasing June 18, according to the streamer. Netflix also projects that 61 million households will have seen the movie — or some portion of it — within its first four weeks.
Timed to Father’s Day weekend, “Fatherhood” drew in viewers with a story about a dad learning to navigate fatherhood while coping with the death of his wife. Notably, the number of viewers reported by Netflix does not adhere to the conventional audience measurement tools used by traditional networks. Instead, the number of viewers is based on the amount of subscribers who watch at least two minutes of a piece of content. For “Fatherhood,” that would translate to watching just under 2% of the movie.
“Fatherhood” is adapted from “Two Kisses For Maddy: A Memoir of Loss and Love,” the best-selling novel by Matthew Logelin. Originally set up for an April 16 theatrical release by Sony Pictures,...

Sony and Higher Ground Productions will have its Kevin Hart drama Fatherhood released on Netflix on Friday June 18, just before Father’s Day.

Essentially, Netflix has licensed worldwide rights, except China which Sony will keep. Meanwhile, Sony will keep the IP and all transactional home entertainment windows outside of Netflix.

“The studio was an absentee landlord. They were nowhere to be found.”
Just before the recent reboot of Hellboy appeared and then flopped at theaters earlier this year, a report came out listing the many ways that the film's behind the scenes turmoil affected the final product. Now, a new report from THR on the making of Men in Black: International has arrived to detail the troubles that movie faced during production, which began back in 2016 when the Men in Black/21 Jump Street crossover project fell apart and Sony decided to just go ahead and reboot Men in Black with new stars instead.
The studio sensed it had an opportunity to reunite Thor: Ragnarok duo Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth together again on screen (and who didn't want to see that?) with what it felt was a decent script for Men in Black 4 penned by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway.

Whereas the original films were centered in New York City, the new take sees Agent M (Thompson) join the covert Mib organization dedicated to policing the alien population hiding in plain sight on Earth. She is partnered with Agent H (Hemsworth) in the London bureau to stop a potential global catastrophe. Emma Thompson and Liam Neeson also star.
Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are producing, and Steven Spielberg is serving as executive producer.

Kevin Hart is ready to show off his serious side.
The comedian will star in Sony Pictures’ “Fatherhood,” a big screen adaptation of the Matt Logelin best-seller “Two Kisses For Maddy: A Memoir Of Loss & Love.” The film, which centers on a widower who must raise his daughter after his wife dies in child birth, is directed by Paul Weitz (“About a Boy”).
Hart just scored a box office hit with “The Upside,” another change-of-pace role. Its success came despite controversy surrounding Hart’s selection as Oscar host. He abandoned the emcee gig amidst blow-back over homophobic jokes he made earlier in his career. Hart had been alternately apologetic and defiant while promoting “The Upside,” a stance that further inflamed the controversy.
Hart will shoot “Fatherhood” after he wraps up the sequel to “Jumanji.” Hart’s other films include “Night School,” “Get Hard,” and “Central Intelligence.”

After proving their onscreen chemistry in “Thor: Ragnarok,” Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth are back on the front lines in the trailer for F. Gary Gray’s latest “Men in Black” entry. This time, the stars are trading in their Asgardian armor for agency issued black suits.

Exclusive: Could this be another horror hit for Platinum Dunes? Sony has just picked up a horror pitch from scribes Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan for Platinum Dunes, the producers behind A Quiet Place, which was released in April by Paramount and has grossed a whopping $331.7 million worldwide. All the more remarkable given that the net cost of the horror film was $17 million.
Although the storyline of the pitch is being kept under wraps, the untitled project is said to be in the vein of I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scream. It’s being referred to as an Untitled holiday movie for now.
Writers Melton and Dunstan, who pitched the project, have worked a lot in the horror genre. They wrote on three of the Saw movies and just finished up on Rate Your Stay at Lionsgate and The Reckoning at Paramount. They also wrote the ABC...

Exclusive: Longtime Sony Pictures exec veep of production David Beaubaire will transition by year’s end into a producing deal, sources said. There has been a series of changes at the studio, but I’m being told this is Beaubaire’s desire. The pieces of the transition are still falling into place. Among his projects have been All The Money in The World, which Ridley Scott directed and which survived the switch from Kevin Spacey to Oscar-nominated Christopher Plummer shortly before the film’s release. He is currently immersed in the relaunch of Men in Black that F. Gary Gray is directing, with Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Liam Neeson, Rafe Spall, Kumail Nanjani, and Sartaj Garewal starring.
