Exclusive: Spotlight casting director Paul Schnee is making his directorial debut in a comedy-drama TV series.
Schnee has directed all episodes of Mother, May I Have a Kidney?, which comes from Filipino-American showrunner Veronica Reyes-How, who is also writing. Schnee’s casting credits also include Winter’s Bone and The Girl on the Train. Production just wrapped.
The show stars Doug Plaut (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Emmy winner Tina Benko (The Greatest Showman), Darius de Haas (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Charlotte Ray Rosenberg and Troy Iwata, and also features Myra Lucretia Taylor, Lydia Gaston, and Drew McVety.
Executive producers are Reyes-How and Plaut for Goldfish Pajamas. Producers are Benjamin J. Murray and Michael Christensen for Incline Productions. Casting is by Rachel Goldman.

The folks behind the daily online show Stars in the House, a series hosted by Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley that features stage and screen actors singing and performing live from home to benefit The Actors Fund’s Covid-19 efforts, are adding Plays in the House to its line-up, matching performers and plays for one-time-only livestream readings.
First up: a one-time only reunion of the original The Heidi Chronicles Broadway cast of the Wendy Wasserstein Tony- and Pulitzer-winning play: Joan Allen, Cynthia Nixon, Peter Friedman, Boyd Gaines, Ellen Parker, Joanne Camp, Anne Lange and Drew McVety.
The Heidi Chronicles will open the new Plays series today at 2 p.m. Et on the Stars in the House livestream channel.

The Hangar Theatre has announced casting for its The 38th season, which will include a thrilling line-up of plays and musicals. The season takes off with Ken Ludwigs knock-down, drag it out farce, Lend Me A Tenor June 21-July 7, starring Emily Skinner, Michael McCormick, Janet Dacal, Daniel Berlingeri, Lindsay Clemmons, Eddie Vona and Judy Levitt. That will be followed by the premiere of a strikingly innovative concept of the Tony winning best musical Titanic July 12-July 28, starring Alma Cuervo, William Youmans, Drew McVety, Christianne Tisdale, Phillip Hoffman, Joneil Joplin, and Robert Cuccioli. The sophisticated comedy Full Gallop August 2-August 11 is next, starring Dee Hoty, followed by the area premiere of the Pulitzer Prize winning musical Next to Normal August 16-September 1, with Andra Burns and Chris Hoch. The final offering is a true American classic, Horton Footes The Trip to Bountiful September 13-September 22, featuring Susannah Berryman.
