Warcraft is going to easily be one of the most visually stunning films of the year. I also think it will end up being one of the best video game films made so far.
Today we have a new featurette called “The Beginning” with new footage from the film along with interviews with the cast and crew. This featurette is actually the best piece of marketing for the film I've seen so far. There's also a second featurette that focuses on Paula Patton's transformation into the character Garona.
I also included a series of portraits that focus on the CGI characters of the film and the actors who portray them. They highlight the transformation that took place to turn these humans into Orcs for this film.
The effects of the film were done by Ilm, and they did such an incredible job bringing these characters to life. The detail...

Paula Patton plays Garona Halforcen, the half-orc, half-human warrior caught in the middle of the conflict between the invading orcs and warriors of Azeroth. Following promos for Durotan - The Rebel and Anduin Lothar - The Warrior, are you looking forward to the June release or are you still on the fence? Check out the brand new trailer for Warcraft (or, "Warcraft: The Beginning") below. This is probably the best look we've had of the fantasy adventure flick yet... though the seriously questionable music choices continue. Fans of the video game series seem to like what they've seen so far, but the various trailers/TV spots etc haven't gone down as well with everyone else. These last two Warcraft posters spotlight a couple of characters that have been largely absent from the movie's promotion thus far: Medivh and Khadgar. Both of these guys are Mages that begin fighting for the alliance, but one may have some hidden motives - if the movie follows the story laid out in the video games, that is. No spoilers here, so ask a Wow fan in the comments section to fill you in if you're curious! Director Duncan Jones had a Warcraft movie presentation at Blizzcon yesterday, and during the panel he revealed the characters that all of the lead actors are playing. Up until now the identities of the characters that the actors would be playing have been kept under wraps. The World of Warcraft movie has completed shooting.
Director Duncan Jones announced on Twitter that the four-month shoot had come to an end.
Final day on Warcraft now officially... wrapped!! Off to bed for 3 hours before a meeting in the Am. Goodnight/good morning twitter!
— Duncan Jones (@ManMadeMoon) May 23, 2014
The video game movie adaptation is due for release in March 2016 and has stars such as Paula Patton and Rob Kazinsky attached.
The film will use a mix of live-action and CGI, and the visual effects supervisor Bill Westenhofer has previously said that it will come across as "Avatar meets Game of Thrones".
Few details have been released about the film, other than the fact it will focus on the origins of the battle between Orcs and humans.
Blizzard CEO Paul Sams previously told Digital Spy that the World of Warcraft film will be more than a simple video game adaptation.

The World of Warcraft movie has had its first plot details revealed.
Duncan Jones's adaptation of the popular Mmo will tell the story of the first contact between humans and orcs, focusing on the characters Anduin Lothar and Durotan.
Jones confirmed at BlizzCon 2013 that the movie will feature a mixture of live-action footage and CGI, with the orcs created using a mix of motion capture and animation.
The Source Code filmmaker was keen to stress that he is telling a two-side story and focusing on both races equally. "It's about both sides, you can be a hero whatever side you are on," he said.
Visual effects specialist Bill Westenhoffer, who won several awards for his work on Life of Pi, will provide the film's special effects in collaboration with Blizzard's creative team.
Early concept artwork shown at the event confirmed that locations including Draenor and Iron Forge will feature in the movie.
