Awards Prediction Commentary: “Mank,” “The Midnight Sky” and “Tenet” feel “safe” for the moment and then there are two interchangeable spots that could go to the documentary “Welcome to Chechnya” or perhaps a bigger film like “Mulan” after debuting on Disney Plus.

The internet found heroes in Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday as Donald Trump agreed to the leading Democrats’ plea for a three-month extension of the debt ceiling and government funding through Dec. 15.
The hashtag #ChuckandNancy was trending on Twitter following the news, but particular interest was paid to a photo of Trump and Senate Democratic Leader Schumer locked in a smiling, semi-embrace during a meeting about the debt ceiling, government shutdown and disaster relief aid for victims of Hurricane Harvey.

2 | Did Hawaii Five-0 just give CBS an idea, teasing a San Francisco-based spinoff? (Would Jorge Garcia’s Jerry be a part if it, maybe develop conspiracy theories about old Alcatraz inmates resurfacing?)

Watch 8 film clips from Fox Home Entertainment's Lego Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Out, now available on Blu-ray/DVD from March 26th. Being a big Lego fan (who isn't, right?), I find the characters in Star Wars extremely cute and the kids will absolutely fall in love with all 22 minutes of the short, and effective release. Guy Vasilovich directs from the writing by Michael Price, with Joshua Walker producing The Empire Strikes Out. Voice talents include Anthony Daniels, Kenneth Colley, Brian Blessed, Julian Glover, Lloyd Floyd, Matt Sloan, Ahmed Best, Lisa Fuson, John Armstrong, Andy Secombe, Tom Kane and Sam Witwer.

Fantasy has a funny way of capturing the imagination of the geek demographic. While readers of Harlequin romances, fans of John Ford westerns, or lovers of historical epics may daydream about their particular field of interest and imagine themselves as heroes or lovers in their genre of choice, 'hardcore' fantasy adherents simply aren't content with wondering "what if?". A true geek's love for his beloved material invariably translates to a real-life imitative lifestyle. A lover of all things medieval visits ye olde Renaissance Faires, complete with broadsword and chain mail. A Trekker wouldn't dream of attending the latest Star Trek convention without his Starfleet uniform, replica tricorder and phaser, and a practiced Vulcan salute. A Dr. Who fanatic has his Sonic Screwdriver and 1/6th scale Tardis. And a huge Star Wars nerd has...well...a seriously-distressing compulsion, to the average layperson.
Such is one of many issues touched upon, but never mocked,...

Way back in 2006, Wisconsin filmmakers Aaron Yoda and Matt Sloan envisioned what it would be like if one of popular culture's most famous archetypes of evil worked the day shift at your local supermarket. A few days of shooting in a neighborhood grocery co-op and one $600 Darth Vader suit later, Yoda and Sloan released what would become one of the first, big online video hits to draw attention from both mainstream media and the early YouTube crowd. Under the banner of Blame Society Productions, Yoda and Sloan went on to produce 20+ episodes of Chad Vader: Day Shift Manager, spanning across three seasons, and garnering tens of millions of views, all with the same premise: "Life is hard when you're Darth Vader's less-talented, less-charismatic younger brother and you manage a grocery store." The happenings of a hapless dark lord with lady troubles and a blue collar job still remain relatively popular,...
