James Tupper's got a knack for mystery.
The 51-year-old actor, who gained notoriety on medical dramas like Mercy and Grey's Anatomy, seems to have hit his stride in the mystery genre with roles in Revenge and Big Little Lies.

Most recently, however, Tupper has transitioned from covering up crimes to solving them, with his latest role as an FBI agent working with an archaeologist (Courtney Thorne-Smith) to solve a murder in Hallmark Movies & Mysteries' Site Unseen: An Emma Fielding Mystery.
"I think Hallmark is doing this really exciting thing right now, where they buy a series of books, they're books for young adults, or adolescents, and they're really fun Agatha Christie-style mysteries," the Canadian actor excitedly told Et over the phone earlier this month. "Revenge" is officially over, which means we're in mourning -- aka eating our emotions in the form of expensive seafood while writing this recap. After four dramatic seasons full of twists, turns and amazing fashion, Emily Thorne's story has finally wrapped up -- and the show ended on a surprisingly satisfying note. Let's just say Emily's revengenda is complete.
Check out our recap to find out which characters bit the dust (spoiler alert: there were two deaths!) and whether or not Emily got the last laugh on ABC's "Revenge."
Victoria Attends Her Own Funeral, Remains Cray-Cray

ABC’s “Revenge” wraps it’s 4-year run on Sunday, which for fans marks the end of Emily VanCamp‘s roller coaster ride as Amanda Clarke/Emily Thorne. Viewers have watched Amanda plot her vengeance against Victoria Grayson (Madeline Stowe) as she sought justice for father David Clarke’s (James Tupper) false conviction and subsequent fake death. But amidst all the deaths, heartache and destruction in Amanda’s life as she crossed enemies off her hit list with a red marker, at the heart of the show was her childhood soulmate Jack Porter played by Nick Wechsler. As the series’ ending draws near,...

When I spoke with Revenge star James Tupper (who plays David Clarke on the ABC series) last month, he teased Revenge‘s craziest scene yet, only telling me that it was a “whopper” and that it happened in Episode 20 of the show’s fourth season. Well, we found out exactly what that “whopper” was in last night’s episode of Revenge, titled “Burn,” but I don’t think anyone (including myself) could have predicted what actually transpired. Believing that it was the only way to ensure that Emily would be taken down, Victoria broke into her old house, Emily’s current home, and blew up the entire Grayson Manor, with herself still inside. That means, as long as Victoria did not somehow escape the huge explosion (and the promos for next week’s episode seem to indicate that she did not), that Emily’s arch enemy and Revenge‘s other...

There's so much plotting and scheming going on in "Revenge," we don't know how these people have time to eat lobster rolls and bury bodies. This week, Victoria Grayson and Margaux LeMarchal plotted to take down Emily Thorne, and the results were explosive -- in the most literal way possible. Check out Moviefone's recap to find out who died, who was diagnosed with a fatal illness, and who's moving to L.A.!
Victoria Makes A Fatal Decision
The press is destroying Victoria's life thanks to Emily, so she teams up with Margaux and Louise Ellis to salvage what's left of her reputation. Of course, Margaux hates Louise with a fiery passion (probably because she tried to murder her in a steam room), but they're forced to work together after Victoria gets punched in the stomach by a hooded figure in a parking lot (as ya do).
Margaux's plan is simple:...

She's baaa-ack! Emily Thorne recently reclaimed her identity as Amanda Clarke, but her new lease on life isn't exactly going as planned. Despite coming clean as David Clarke's daughter, there are still tons of skeletons in Em's closet (along with a bunch of Stella McCartney dresses), and Victoria Grayson is aiming to expose them. This week on a slightly clip show-esque episode of "Revenge," Victoria set her sights on taking Emily down once and for all -- and she has a new minion!
Emily Swipes Left On Her Haters
Emily Thorne might be a full blown vigilante, but Amanda Clarke isn't exactly a saint. Still recovering from Jack Porter getting a DUI during last week's episode of "Revenge"? The feeling is mutual, but we have some good news: Emily Thorne is here to save the day (and hopefully encourage Jack to stop staring woefully at sea glass in his free time). Unless the plan is utter and complete devastation, that is.

Fans of Revenge might have thought the show was going to run out of steam once it seemed like everyone knew Emily Thorne was actually Amanda Clarke. But now in its fourth season, the ABC nighttime soap is executing some of its best twists yet, many of them thanks to the return of presumed dead David Clarke, played by James Tupper.
Originally inadvertently pitted against his daughter, David is now one of her most consistent allies and seemingly safe from danger with the death of Malcolm Black, season four's main antagonist. But is he truly safe? And will he once again struggle with the desire for revenge against Victoria?...

The fourth season of ABC’s Revenge has, in many ways, felt like a rebirth for the series, and one of the main reasons behind that rejuvenation has been the show’s resurrection of David Clarke. Believed to be dead throughout the show’s first three seasons, David was revealed to be alive in Revenge‘s Season 3 finale and has been a major player in many of the events that have taken place during Season 4. In an exclusive interview with TVOvermind, the actor who plays David Clarke, James Tupper, spoke about his character’s new role in the back half of Season 4, his constantly evolving relationship with Emily, and an upcoming Revenge scene that he calls “the craziest whopper you’ve ever seen.” TVOvermind: You were a guest star on Revenge for its first three seasons, mainly only appearing in flashbacks, until they resurrected your character in the Season 3 finale.

Tommy Flanagan is moving right on over from causing Anarchy on FX to enacting Revenge on ABC. That’s right, the Sons of Anarchy star, who portrays Jax’s VP Chibs on the biker drama, will be joining Revenge for a major recurring role during its fourth season. According to TVLine, which first broke the casting news over the weekend, Flanagan will be playing “the powerful and dangerous Malcolm Black, a high-functioning psychopath with a long memory for those who have crossed him. Self-made, cold and calculating, he is relentless when it comes to protecting both his family and his fortune.” Flanagan’s Black sounds like he will be Revenge‘s main villain for the back half of Season 4, and if last night’s episode, which had a group of attackers trying to capture David Clarke (James Tupper), is any indication, he will probably have something to share about what...

The re-introduction of David Clarke in Revenge Season 4 has produced some mixed results. While it’s been interesting to see just what secrets this changed man (the David we know from flashbacks is gone) is guarding, the biggest secret that’s been holding this season back has been Emily’s, as she has hidden the truth about being David’s daughter. Thankfully, that reveal finally happened in this past week’s episode of Revenge, but probably not in the way many fans were hoping for or expecting. Instead of a heartwarming reunion between father and daughter, Emily’s confession to David was an anger-filled declaration. She had just discovered that David had been keeping photos of Amanda this entire time in a safety deposit box, that he was so close to the Hamptons, and she couldn’t believe that her own father wouldn’t try to come visit her. Emily...

Revenge is off to a good start this television season. The fourth season has seen the return of David Clarke (James Tupper) and a small surge in viewers. After a shaky (and confusing) season 3, the show was a possibility for cancellation when viewership dropped from 8 million viewers in September 2013 to only 4.87 million by the time the season finale aired in May 2014. The six episodes that have aired so far this season have averaged 5 million viewers. Once this season has concluded, there will be enough episodes made to send Revenge into syndication, which means big bucks for ABC. So that could be one reason the alphabet network has kept the drama around. Another reason the series has remained on the air is because of the likable cast. You may remember most of the faces you see every week wreaking havoc in the Hamptons from past television projects.…

The weekend may be over, but it's also the best day of the year: the day we get an extra hour. Some may take that extra hour for sleep. We used it to watch more TV. We also used every other hour for TV, but that's what Sundays are for, right? Tonight, The Walking Dead took a trip to the hospital, and it was even less fun than trips to the hospital usually are. Meanwhile, on Revenge, David Clarke punched our favorite character in the face, and we may never forgive him. Join us for tonight's Rants and Raves! Rant: The Walking Dead: Well, we finally know where Beth is. All this time, she's been in a hospital in Atlanta, first as a patient and then as a nurse. Emily's lies get the one person who has been by her side through everything hurt in "Damage," the sixth episode of Revenge season 4 -- and David still doesn't know that she's really Amanda. Honestly, I thought by this point, he would, but that may be a good thing. Everything about David's story is falling apart at the seams as Emily decides to do some digging into her father.
Meanwhile, Charlotte's wild night out has fatal consequences, but what follows makes her a somewhat tolerable character; Daniel's doing something that's just continuing to take up screen time; Louise is imagining the perfect life with Victoria; and Margaux can't be happier about the live interview with David Clarke. Plus, Ben playing detective actually leads to a pretty big clue, and it's a good thing Jack is there to see it.

Even though David Clarke may have returned back to his home in the Hamptons, that doesn’t mean he’s back to being the man he was, and that’s exactly what Emily and Nolan are worried about in this Sunday’s episode of Revenge, entitled “Damage.” However, as you can see in the two Revenge clips below, Emily and Nolan aren’t the only ones who are concerned about David—Victoria appears to be as well, although her intentions may be much more dubious. The first of the two videos below focuses on Emily and Nolan has they watch an FBI interrogation video with David and read what sound like the results of his psych examination, which state that he has “psychological fragmentation” and “a loss of a sense of safety and trust.” When Emily keeps pushing for more and more information, Nolan asks what she’s looking for.

This bearded grifter has no idea that his daughter Emily Thorne (aka The Artist Formerly Known as Amanda Clarke) is alive and well!
