There can never be enough retrospectives on the slasher genre, and Fangoria broke the news about a documentary that looks at my favorite kind of flick. No word yet on a release date.
So this is a totally different approach to the subject matter, with interviewees who are a little cultier than usual and generally not as ubiquitous on genre docus,” he continues. “Hence we have J.S. Cardone, who directed one of my fave slasher films The Slayer and later wrote and produced the Stepfather and Prom Night remakes; Corey Feldman, who killed Jason in Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter; Scott Spiegel of Hostel and Intruder fame; legendary Brit director Norman J. Warren; Friday The 13th: The New Blood’s John Carl Buechler; and such recent genre kingpins as Patrick Lussier, who edited the Scream movies and directed My Bloody Valentine and Drive Angry, Adam Green of Hatchet,...

We first told you about Blood + Roses way back in 2008. Never let it be said we don't keep tabs on things around here for ya! The toothy little vampire flick is available now in the States, and all you have to do to see it is order yourself a copy!
From the Press Release
Blood + Roses, the new British vampire flick from Simon Aitken (one of the directors of the forthcoming Portmanteau horror, Habeas Corpus) and Independent Runnings, is now available to buy exclusively from Amazon.com.
The story is about Martin (Kane John Scott) and his wife, Jane, (Marysia Kay), who are taking some time off, trying to put the past behind them. But when they get to their holiday cottage, they find that they're got little love left for each other. Jane attracts the attentions of another man, Seth (Benjamin Green), a vampire who sees something that he wants in Jane.

I love a good tale of vampires struggling with their inner demons but considering how prominently and thoroughly Anne Rice’s take on that struggle has embedded itself in popular culture, many of the films that have come since the introduction of Louis have been a variation on themes directly drawn from Rice’s work. That’s not a bad thing but after a while, it gets boring.
Enter British filmmaker Simon Aitken who, for his first full length feature, tackles Ben Woodwiss’ script which plays on some of the themes and plot lines were familiar with. But Blood + Roses, as familiar as the story feels, manages to breathe some new life into the struggle to lose humanity completely and take on the life of hunter.
The story focuses on Jane and Martin,...

Women in Horror Month creator Hannah Nuerotica and Fgt editor Heidi get down and dirty about the new GoreZone Women in Horror Month Tribute Video in a no-holds-barred bikini-wrestling match of emotions.
Hannah: On January 8, 2011 Uk MagazineGoreZonelaunched a video called “Women in Horror” (in honor of February being Women in Horror Month). Despite my legitimate skepticism regarding how a magazine indistinguishable from Maxim on the rack would portray a movement rooted in the feminist ideal of equality, yet I remained open-minded. Maybe we would all be surprised and elated to see some true progress taking place.
Heidi: If you’re an artist, a filmmaker, a director, an editor, an actress who doesn’t happen to look like a model, or basically any woman who doesn’t cater to the sexuality of male horror fans, you may find yourself having a harder time getting your projects seen and heard, or getting jobs doing what you love.

I love poster designs for movies. I love the thought that goes into them, the artistry even down to how the text sits on it, but what the heck is going on with this?! The movie looks rather good and you can read our review of it here from when it was released in the UK back in October, but what were the designers thinking when they made this?! Just shoving loads of press quotes on top of it! And have they just superimposed Sally Hawkins on top of it? It looks more like a horror film poster than it does about women’s lib!
It could be that there is a good reason why this looks so bad but I cant think of one! Let me know what you think in the comments section below. Is it just me?

Upcoming Horror Movies.com has a great article on horror releases for the week of February 23rd, of which Colour from the Dark is but one. The trailer for Colour from the Dark puts into a visual sphere what bi-polar disorder must feel like. In one scene things are calm as character Lucia picks vegetables from her farm. Thirty seconds later this proud wife and sister is stabbing friends and family with a pitchfork. Happy then sad and back again. Have a look at the Colour from the Dark trailer below, which stars Debbie Rochon, and then visit the Uhm website to view over fifteen titles that will be released on DVD/Blu-Ray formats this following week.
The plotline for Colour from the Dark here:
"Pietro and Lucia live on an isolated farm with Alice, Lucia's younger sister. Poor farmers, they live tilling the soil. Pietro is a good worker and a strong man who,...

British director Matt Stone gave us some details about his debut feature Ouija Board, a tale of five young people who head into the Scottish countryside for a weekend of drink, drugs and sex. After a fatal accident, the friends decide to attempt spirit contact with a ouija board—and that’s when all hell breaks loose.
The film, which stars Evil Aliens’ Nick Smithers and Colour From The Dark’s Marysia Kay, took Stone four years to complete as he juggled the roles of writer, director, producer, cinematographer and editor. “Ouija Board is adventure-horror,” he explains to Fango. “I’ve sat bored through too many low-budget films. I knew that I had to make this movie fast-paced and exciting, to suck the audience in, shake them up and spit them back out wanting more.”
To achieve this, Stone buckled down and studied the genre, watching as many low-budget chillers...

A new poster has crept on-line for Colour From The Dark, the latest (and, we believe, the best) fright feature from Italian director Ivan Zuccon. You can check out the art for the film (which stars Fango Radio’s own Debbie Rochon) below the cut.
The poster appeared on the website for Wonderphil Productions, which is handling sales on Colour From The Dark. An adaptation of the H.P. Lovecraft story “The Colour Out of Space” (which also inspired the features Die, Monster, Die! and The Curse), Zuccon’s film is set on a farm circa 1943 where married couple Lucia (Rochon) and Pietro (Michael Segal) and Lucia’s sister Alice (Marysia Kay) live. After a strange colored light appears at the bottom of their well, an insidious force begins to infect the farm and the people dwelling on and around it. We’ll keep you posted on the movie’s distribution...
