He was awarded the OAM (Order of Australia Medal) in the 2005 Queen's New Years Honours List for his services to sport as an Olympic Gold Medalist in the 2004 Olympic Summer Games in Athens, Greece.
He was awarded the Australian Centenary Medal in the 2001 Queen's New Years Honours List for his services to Australian Society through the sport of cycling.
He was awarded the Australian Sports Medal on September 29, 2000 for his services to sports. He won stage of Tour De France World Track Champ Medals in France.
